The Conversation Killers

I decided to do some custom stats here for the Baron. I found all the posts on weekdays from 8am to 6pm and the time of their next post, grouped them by the user and found the average. The number is the average minutes from the time someone posts to the next post. So here are your top conversation killers:

People that have been posting the longest will be screwed as it wasn't uncommon for 3 or 4 days to go by without a post back in the day. I might try to filter those out too. Maybe instead of the average I should find the median instead of the average...

"Maybe instead of the average I should find the median instead of the average..."

ugh, i need to make it easier to edit posts that I make, because that's even bad for my editing standards. Whatever.

Phil on Monday, April 24, 2006 at 6:14 PM

btw if I don't take away weekends and at night stew is an amazing 4 hours between his post and the next one.

Brock on Monday, April 24, 2006 at 6:29 PM

Is Wes exempt from this statistic?

Phil on Monday, April 24, 2006 at 6:35 PM

fuck, left him off...he was at 31 tied with his brother.

i had to skip a bunch of people because people like "krazybitch" and "flamebait" where all over the place.

Brock on Monday, April 24, 2006 at 6:43 PM

Another interesting stat would be to see the rate of posting over the life of NattySci.com. I can guarantee that the posting rate when up lightyears when Joe, Douglas, and Barry started posting regularly. I'm sure there are various "landmark days" in which posting either skyrocketed or died for periods. It would be interesting to see what happened around that time.

The Natty Sci Epochs
1. PreCambrian - Jan 2004, just Philco
2. Paleozoic - Feb 2004-Sept 2004, lots of posts with minimal comments
3. Mesozoic - Oct 2004-March 2005, Dark Ages-one post months
4. Cenozoic - April 2005-Today, rebirth and expansion!

Something like that... I'm hungry and my creativity is null.

Jay on Monday, April 24, 2006 at 7:06 PM

Why don't you try putting some of that creativity into curing cancer.

Jay on Monday, April 24, 2006 at 9:00 PM

I have to say, that was the best "How I met your mother" since marshgammon.

Phil on Monday, April 24, 2006 at 10:17 PM

oh man, great, how i met your mother went right back into "shit i can imagine myself doing." good times!

Who are the most unsexy men:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12190404/

I have a million problems with this list. First of all, if I had some Chinese ninja midget with a gun to my head telling me I had to be fucked by one of these guys in the ass, I'd probably choose Gilbert Godfrey over Michael Moore or Rush Limbaugh, therefore, I don't think he should be #1. I mean, yeah, he couldn't keep his mouth shut about it, but if anybody found out that Michael Moore fucked you in the ass; you'd be ruined for life.

Talk about awkward, your move Sherlock.

Bigworm on Monday, April 24, 2006 at 11:33 PM

douglas on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 9:38 AM

what hernandez said was legendary, and he most definitely deserves a t-shirt. the thing is, he's exactly right, women don't belong in the dugout, he's just saying out loud what every athlete already knows. i hate policital correctness.

what happened last night on How I met your mother???

Phil on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 9:46 AM

Basic plot was that Barney hired ted a stripper to take to an awards show to make Robin jealous.

Pretty good episode - a return to what made the show good in the first place.

douglas on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 9:47 AM

so mcbigboobs didn't come back into the picture at all?

joe on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 9:49 AM

it was a prstitute not a stripper. Huge difference.

Jay on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 10:01 AM

Who didn't see the plot twist coming from a mile away, though?

"You mocked something I hate by referencing something I love!"

joe on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 10:04 AM

Was that the hair reference?

Jay on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 10:08 AM

Yeah. Something about the scene in empire when darth vader has the helmet put on, and relating it to the dudes hair.

Wes has always been a UK baseball fan

douglas on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 10:55 AM

even before it was cool to be a uk baseball fan. i could've played ball there and walked on, but that was when they sucked

joe on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 10:56 AM

hell, was it matt fritts from male and matt roberts from manual that went to play there?

joe on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 10:58 AM

someone found nattysci.com through a search of "myspace retard condom crack drunk"

douglas on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 11:03 AM

yup, actually roberts went to unc-asheville first with marshall reese, then fell in love and transferred back home, i think to uk. fritts is a douche. he was roommates with pitts's buddy galvin their freshman year, and pitts always talked about how much of a girl fritts was, always primping and shit like that.

douglas on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 11:03 AM

fritts was a walk on too, i think he actually saw some PT too, but he was always way overrated b/c he went to male. i definitely should not have gone to waggener

Bigworm on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 11:34 AM

Wes has always been a UK sports fanatic. Pretty funny when I talk to UofL fans, how they are so proud that UofL is building a solid sports program. Now UK is building a solid program other than basketball and everyone is trying to call me out.

Well I got news for all of you cocksuckers.

BLOW ME.

Bigworm on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 11:36 AM

I wouldn't say it is cool to be a UK baseball fan. LSU, Texas, and Nebraska are still the big boys...but I am proud of my basketball school. Who knows, we might even win 6 games in football this year.

Marc on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 11:43 AM

If Natty Sci ever goes too mainstream, we can do something like this.

Bigworm on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 11:52 AM

Just so you guys know, Abby did get that rotation in the United Kingdom, and I think she is planning on leaving at the end of May.

Brent on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 11:52 AM

How long will she be there?

Green Baron on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 11:55 AM

That Cameron video is hilarious, especially when you think that every aspect of that banana that he claims was ordained by god, was actually selected for by man. Un-modified bananas are not like that.

Jay on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 11:56 AM

Wes, will you get to stay at your house? Or is she going to make you move in with your parents and padlock the doors?

Jay on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 11:56 AM

Happy birthday to Al Pacino, Hank Azaria, and Jason Lee.

Green Baron on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 11:59 AM

Here's a trivia question for you Phil, how many kernels did the original corn cob have on it before it was selected?

Bigworm on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 12:09 PM

She will be there for 4 months or so.

Jay - of course I can stay at my house. Abby and I never had people over at first because we didn't have the sitting room and because we live next to some old people so we didn't want to keep them up all night because we are really fucking loud. Abby has said many times people can come over, however, when I have to start limiting my friends based on not having space in the house it isn't worth it because we never exclude our friends from anything. It is also worth mentioning I have a dog who is very skittish towards men, and if anyone did anything to my dog, I'd probably kill them, without asking questions. So as silly as it may seem, by not having people over I am promoting human life.

Brock on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 12:13 PM

Wes probably just doesn't want people puking in his yard, pissing on his garage, punching holes in the walls, smashing their asses through windows, and screwing on his kitchen couch.

Brock on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 12:15 PM

Or.... making love to his toilet, running around with his bullhorns on their head, playing with his vintage pistols, throwing darts in his walls, screwing on his pool table, or in his computer room.

Jay on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 12:15 PM

Woah, easy chief. I was just joking around.

Brock on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 12:20 PM

I think this is just the early stages of instituting a playoff system (I hope)

http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?...p&type=lgns

With one of the bowls holding two games (although with a "different name and sponsor"), the BCS bowls are locking down a system where the final 4-8 teams play in their bowls for a title.

Phil on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 1:20 PM

i asked the trivia question "what pc manufacturer is running ads claiming they are 'Easy to Buy, Easy to Own'" to 8 of my coworkers and none of them were able to guess it either.

I feel vendicated.

joe on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 1:25 PM

Tumbleweed sucks!! And Wes, when you don't have enough room you put up a tent. Sacrifices. Every one has to give a little. And quit talking in the 3rd person. Last, "Now UK is building a solid program other than basketball and everyone is trying to call me out." What have they done? They won some baseball games and I watched the baseball team play Florida a month ago, they looked pretty good, okay. Tennis finished second in SEC. What have you got? UL went to the baseball regional a few years back. Our tennis team won the Big East. Where are we going with this? fuck you Wes, you ain't got shit.

douglas on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 1:28 PM

i do like UL tennis, that's the only UL program i like

joe on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 1:29 PM

They have a bunch of foreigners.

joe on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 1:33 PM

Don't even get me started on UL volleyball and field hockey. We will demolish you all there.

Phil on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 1:53 PM

holy shit, TMQ returned to ESPN.com

Jay on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 2:20 PM

Hmm...I think joe as some anger towards wes.

Bigworm on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 2:21 PM

Joe Burket and Every other cocksucker on this mother fucking board -

Everyone is trying to call me out because I am showing support for my school. I told you cocksuckers that Texas was going to win it all and you guys told me I was a fucking idiot. I am showing support for Vince Young and I am sucking his cock all of a sudden. SO FUCK ALL OF YOU ASSHOLES, WHO'S THE BIG WINNER NOW.

So what if they have only won a few fucking games, if it was UofL you assclowns would be talking smack left and right and I would just laugh. UofL fans like to build up their school larger than life, probably because you play second fiddle in the state and you are in Big Brother's shadow, so for every victory no matter how small it's a fucking larger than life muther fucking championship caliber win. I am not even trying to compare the two schools asshole, I am just saying "hey as a sports fan of UK check us out and show some support". We are known as a basketball school so finally some other athletic teams are doing well...take fucking notice. No it's not going to a championship but they are righting the ship in Lexington and I am glad to see it.

Women's hoops is on the rise, Men's golf is pretty good, basketball was subpar by our standards, football is finally taking a turn for the better with getting quality recruits (I still think Brooks isn't the right guy for the job, however, he atleast is building the program the right way) baseball and softball are up, so as a whole, the athletic department is improving. All I am saying is I am a proud fan of my school.

IF YOU CAN'T TAKE THAT THEN FUCK YOU ASSHOLE.

douglas on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 2:25 PM

well said wes, from one uk fan to another, i wholly agree. on a side note, that post is fucking hilarious. i could see your fingers smoking from trying to type that in fast.

Bigworm on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 2:27 PM

In 5 years UK volleyball will be vastly superior to UofL because UK hired an ex-nebraska assistant, which are always ranked #1 by the way. So take your Russian women and go drink some shitty vodka with Taras.

Barry on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 2:29 PM

easy wes. the only reaon i talked shit about uk football yesterday was in response to your comment.

Bigworm on Monday, April 24, 2006 at 9:45 AM
So are any of you UofL fans concerned about your defense this year?

Barry on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 2:29 PM

that's reason, not reon

joe on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 2:36 PM

I believe you inserted UL into the conversation, if I am not mistaken. I, as a natty sci person, had to bust your chops anytime you make a college sports reference because we continually harrass you for bandwagon comments, not because we are UL fans. you came back with, "Pretty funny when I talk to UofL fans, how they are so proud that UofL is building a solid sports program. Now UK is building a solid program other than basketball and everyone is trying to call me out.

Well I got news for all of you cocksuckers.

BLOW ME." So who is comparing the two? You go on to comment showing support for my school. You mention UK and Texas. Who is your school? I hear Wisconsin has a good hockey team, they your school?

Bigworm on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 2:39 PM

Barry it is a simple question. Are you concerned? I was simply asking because we all know that the offense is high powered, so after losing the all-american who anchored down the defensive line are they worried they won't have another player like him to step up?

We all fucking know that at LSU all-sec caliber players are a dime a dozen, however, at schools like UK and UofL who do not boast that type of tradition, big time players are harder to come by.

adrian on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 2:40 PM

ummmm...i bought a new cell phone today...just in case anyone was wondering

douglas on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 2:41 PM

fuck wisconsin, they're overrated, boston college will take them down, and don't sleep on north dakota.

Bigworm on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 2:48 PM

Cockboy - I guess you better throw me down for Bandwagon teams for:

Boston Redsox - because I only started with those guys about 10 years ago.
Texas - college days - Adrian can back me there
UK - I am a redneck so it is infused in my DNA from birth.
Notre Dame - Who doesn't like the Irish, but I guess you will label me as a CW convert since he came from New England.

I am not comparing the schools. I was just mentioning that if I were a UofL fan talking up school you guys would be dislocating your jaws to try and deepthroat the dick a little deeper. It's not a comparison of the schools, but another response to a blatant attack on Wes Goodloe (how do you like that 3rd person CockBoy!)

Bigworm on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 2:51 PM

No additional schools/teams for me, because with a list like that I don't think I can fit any more dick in my mouth.

FAGS!

joe on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:00 PM

That was a pretty good list of bandwagon schools. UK your just throwing yourself under the wagon though. Douglas, Wisconsin might be overrated, but they won the champioship this year. And for the record guys, if being gay ever becomes cool, Wes was gay way before it was cool. I don't want to offend you by saying your hopping on the dick sucking bandwagon.

Bigworm on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:01 PM

Not even response worthy.

douglas on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:02 PM

i have no idea who the fuck won the championship, i just looked up rankings and saw north dakota and boston college. i don't even know when hockey season is. is the hockey season going on now? i don't think it is, i guess it's not if college already has a champion

joe on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:03 PM

The frozen four ended a couple weeks ago

douglas on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:03 PM

actually, i don't want an answer to that question, because i don't give a fuck when hockey season is. in the infamous words of 'the rock,' it doesn't matter when hockey season is. hockey doesn't matter at all. it's almost as gay as soccer.

douglas on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:04 PM

too late i guess

joe on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:04 PM

Soccer is gay

Bigworm on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:05 PM

Not as gay as CockBoy.

Church on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:05 PM

Wes, you forgot that UK is superior to U of L in soccer. Right now, our claim to fame is our current wins in golf and tennis.

Barry on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:05 PM

ok wes, my apologies. i thought perhaps you were talking shit. in answer to you question, worrying about u of l's defense is being in high school and worrying about how you're gonna fuck that girl from assumption. there's no point in it, she's just gonna suck anyway.

Bigworm on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:05 PM

Hockey doesn't matter because it only matters to Russians and Canadians.

Bigworm on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:06 PM

barry, what girls from assumption did u mess with in high school. trust me, they fuck

Brock on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:12 PM

Alright, to resolve some of these issues, I think Joe needs to hand over the Pikachu sitting on his mantle to Wes for a little while.

Pikachu, the official Peace Pipe of Natty Sci.

douglas on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:12 PM

Bigworm on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:15 PM

I don't need a motherfucking peace pipe. It's all good, if Joe can't take a few CockBoy comments and me calling him gay like he is me, then we wouldn't be part of Natty Sci now would we?

We all know that no one should get offended by this shit. It is what it is....shit.

joe on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:15 PM

there are 2 pikachus

joe on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:16 PM

The day is flying by and I am laughing my ass off for hours. This is fun.

Barry on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:16 PM

i actually spent most of my time with girls from mercy actually and even there i got no play not even a bj...not even close. i just thought that analogy would be funny. feel free to substitute "assume the position" for mercy, sacred heart, "pregnant nation" or whichever school you choose. assumption was just the first one that came to mind.

Bigworm on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:17 PM

Brock I have been to the bottom of the atlantic (stupid curse, uk probation). It isn't much fun down there, however, atleast my teams resurfaced...whereas, you might be there for a while.

Just fuckin' with ya.

Brock on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:20 PM

Hey, we went from Huggy Bear to Mickey Mouse, but watching Cronin recruit is like watching Bird shoot three's... its just magical. I think the little guy will surprise a lot of people by putting a competitive team on the floor next year and a contender the following year.

Barry on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:21 PM

plus douglas, the fact you were a "public school reject" may have helped get you laid. there are some spoiled little princesses at those schools that want to get with "the bad boy" and daddy wouldn't be pleased if she got knocked up by some "public school reject." so how is baby's mama anyway?

Brock on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:21 PM

Mercy chicks are dirty, dirty sluts.... Philco can back me up on that one

Bigworm on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:22 PM

Cronin' is a good coach no doubt, however, the only reason you guys get a contender is if OJ and company end up in Cinci...which isn't probable, though not impossible.

Adrian - what cell phone did you get.

Barry on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:22 PM

would that be an olivia reference brock?

Brock on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:23 PM

OJ just got put on suspension from North College Hill High School for 180 days... the dude is going into the NBDL, no one gets him.

Phil on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:24 PM

It was still pretty funny.

joe are you ever going to get a phone?

Jay on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:45 PM

Wow, I am laughing my ass off now. And all I know is that all mercy girls are crazy. Yes shannon, even you. (I don't know if she still reads the site, though) The sanest one was Beavin, and she was a hardcore lezzie. (I only say that because she rejected my advances)

joe on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:45 PM

I don't think so. If you don't know where I am there is a reason.

Barry on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:50 PM

so, you're just going to be a bum and use b-mac or douglas' phone whenever you're at a bar and need to meet up with somebody...or when hurricane season comes around and i get a drunk dial to see if i'm dead...on second thought maybe you don't need a phone. more drunk dialing might be a bad idea

joe on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:51 PM

I do what I can. I let Douglas drunk dial for me usually. He is better at it.

Barry on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:53 PM

by the way hurricane season is not too far away and in case you haven't heard the levees won't be ready by then. i'm going to buy a canoe for a friend in new orleans she's getting married in december, so it's an early wedding present.

Barry on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:54 PM

and i did say a long time ago that nagin would get re-elected. there's still a run-off but don't be surprised.

joe on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:54 PM

What a thoughtful gift. nothing says congratulations like please don't die.

Bigworm on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:56 PM

Barry's just doing what he can.

Adrian - do they have any other decent phones out right now. Since Abby is going to the UK I need to get her a phone that has world capability instead of just the US. Also, only 6 more days till I can get rid of my shitty phone and upgrade it without paying out the ass for it.

Barry on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 3:59 PM

i don't know if i can afford a canoe though...maybe an innertube

Barry on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 4:00 PM

better yet...noodles

Brock on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 4:00 PM

I think Floaties would send the message without the big pricetag

adrian on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 4:01 PM

I called up cingular customer service (611) from my phone and asked them what is available for me. I told them i was interested in the slvr and he said he would give it to me for 50.00 cheaper than what the site advertised. So it went from 199.99 to 149.99. Then i asked him if i could keep my same plan because i was reading the best buy website and they were selling the slvr for 129.99 but you had to get a new plan. I guess the customer service dude thought i was asking for a price match so he said he would knock it down to 139.99. I was like "ummmmm....ok can i keep my same plan?" So he said yes and asked me if i wanted it delivered or to pick it up at a cingular store. He put it in the system and i went to pick it up at the cingular store.

So after tax I paid like 148.00. Not bad. They have a shit load of phones at the Cingular store so you should be able to find something. The Razr's are also nice if you like the flip.

joe on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 4:03 PM

I got a nice rotary phone at home

joe on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 4:06 PM

Get them the kiddie ring with the animal head on the front that makes noise when you squeeze it

douglas on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 4:07 PM

yeah, the drunk dial to barry to make sure he was alive was pretty good

joe on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 4:09 PM

That one ranks up there with a good one to Dave once asking if he was still married, any kids and who has puked in my house.

Brent on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 4:10 PM

Joe this had me on the floor:

"Wes was gay way before it was cool. I don't want to offend you by saying your hopping on the dick sucking bandwagon."

Guys, I dont think I will be able to make it to trivia tonight. Next Tuesday will be on like Donkey Kong; it's my last final!

Phil on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 4:11 PM

no problem, it looks like it will be up to Marc and myself to consume $50 worth of $2.50 imports! Although Wes you were good looking out on Sunday so you are more than welcome to partake in the drinking of $2.50 imports.

7:00 PM at Wicks.

We went into the last round in 3rd place (not bad for marc, myself and a late arriving wade). We went for the gusto on the last question and got it wrong. We could have gotten 3rd, but fuck a big bunch of that.

joe on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 4:17 PM

what was the question? or is it worth repeating

Phil on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 4:17 PM

Brock!! Congratulations!! UC just landed one of my hometown boys for football. His name is Lance Jeter and he has just accepted a football scholarship. Known mostly for his basketball dominance, Jeter brings skills that were unmatched in a hotbed for high school football. His Mom is a teacher at my hometown's elementary school and works with some friends of mine. Raw talent ...

Brock on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at 9:47 AM

I saw that this morning on the UC boards, they are talking about him walking on for basketball. I think that's unlikely though since we just signed 4 guards plus J-Town's Tilford from last year. I just wish this guy was 6'11".

Jordana Brewster...So hot, want to touch her boobies

douglas on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at 10:09 AM

Jerome on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at 2:36 PM

good lookin' out, Phil ... I thought I would have to spend the weekend pondering over the first draft choice ...

No doubt the Texans are contemplating the Young-Bush scenario. But when it all comes down to it, they have to realize that if you have Young, you won't get Bush. Likewise, if you've got Bush, then the prospects of Young are gone.

I'm glad I'm not Houston right now.

Would anyone else care to comment on Young-Bush?

Phil on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at 2:38 PM

I'm in favor of Young-Bush. Although a good tight end generally is a better long term investment.

He wants a shit load of money and rumors of him holding out. Word on the street is mario williams going #1.

adrian on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at 3:18 PM

Williams is definately the best Defensive End in the draft. He is that NC State guy right?

Phil on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at 3:23 PM

there was an interesting story on ESPN the past few days regarding super bowl teams and #1 draft picks. Pretty much the only guys taken in the first few rounds to be on a super bowl winner in the past 30 years was emmitt smith and marcus allen.

joe on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at 3:24 PM

williams is the NC State guy.

Phil on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at 3:33 PM

here's an article mentioning the impact of running backs:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft...&id=2419503

interesting tidbit:
The highest franchise and transition numbers (the average salaries of, respectively, the top five and 10 highest-paid players at each position) belong to quarterbacks, followed by ends, linebackers, offensive linemen, wide receivers and then running backs.

Bigworm on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at 3:56 PM

As much as I like Young, I seriously don't think I'd ever draft a QB in round 1. I'd have to go with defense as my first choice.

It was like the "Lazy Sunday" sketch - very cool at first, and then, the subsequent overkill on the internet made me not like it. By the way, I couldn't even make it for 15 seconds watching that thing without turning it off and repeatedly slamming my head against my desk.

Lendale White was on t.v. the other night and he was talking about his workout with the Kansas City Chiefs, and how of all the coaches Dick Vermeil was the most forward. He told him staight up that if he played really good, he might last six years, and that more that likely he would be be recruiting a new RB in about 4 years. So I think you gotta go with a DE or MDL, if your building up your team. Defense wins championships. There have been so many busts at QB, but how can you not pick Young after watching him play superman, put his team on his back, and win the National Championship. And just to pad my stats, Fuck!

Marc on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at 11:17 PM

Natty Sci down! You see, you don't go into work one day and the whole place goes to shit.

On a different note, here's my grandma's obituary and visitation info for those who wanted it: http://www.legacy.com/louisville/Ob...rsonId=17549894

Thanks for being good looking out, guys. I do appreciate it.

Jay on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 10:09 AM

I'm glad you liked it, adrian. And it looks like today is going to be another dead day on the sci. Marc, 7 is way to early to go out. I'm sorry, it just is.

Jay on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 10:10 AM

Whatever you need, Philco. Natty sci looks after each other. While we call each other gay.

Phil on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 10:20 AM

my little sister is flying in and I'm tracking her flight here:
http://www.flightview.com/

Kinda a cool site. She's on American Airlines Flight Number 3547 (AA3547) which has just crossed from Arkansas into Missouri on it's way into Kentucky at a heading of 61 degrees doing about 511mph.

douglas on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 10:34 AM

that's a really good article about louisville, kinda makes me real proud to be a louisvillian. especially when the guys cracks on hoosiers, only someone from KY would truly appreciate that.

Bigworm on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 10:38 AM

And yes that is a really good article about Louisville. I didn't realize that bars actually stayed open till 6 am on derby weekend.

joe on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 10:40 AM

is that a challenge?

Jerome on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 10:41 AM

On behalf of "the powers that be," I would like to apologize for todays downtime. Apparently when Phil didn't show up for work, two models working for the marketing company next door decided to take things into their own hands by using our power systems and backup generators as dildos. The brunette rammed an entire circuit board up her saying that it was the only thing she could find that was as wide as Philco. That caused the initial failure. So then the redhead decided to squat on the backup system because she likes how Philco backs her up. But she squirted on the UPS shorting it out. All is fixed now and they are on their way to the airport to see if they can find Phil before he picks up his sister.

So again, apologies for the nattysci.com interruption of service. We have credited another 6 months of free service to the nattysci.com account and we are sending out free admission to the next GBITT event for all members of this site.

Jerome on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 10:43 AM

I don't really know what a "gauntlet" is, but I think Joe and Wes just threw it down! Derby drunk fest 'til 6 am?!!?!?

joe on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 10:57 AM

Don't die?

douglas on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 11:07 AM

how did u not know bars are open til 6 on derby night??? i thought you were the legend in your prime? i've already conquered the 6am bar closing back in college. joe knows what im talking about, of course he was too young at the time, but that's when we got back from st. louis from a baseball road trip where i dropped a bomb to win a bet with cuban, and we got back at like midnight, went straight to the liquor store and then to scroggin's and got horribly, horribly trashed. cuban puked at @mosphere, i was totally fucked up, we hit up all the bars on baxter, i crashed around 7am at scroggin's house on the floor b/c bmac wouldn't share the fucking couch.

douglas on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 11:07 AM

don't die is the only rule that applies to derby partying

joe on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 11:15 AM

I say we definitely go out Friday and Saturday I guess we will stick with the traditional derby cookout at my place. Always a good time.

"82. Matt Anderson, Detroit Tigers (No. 1, 1997)
Anderson threw about 100 mph (105 on the Fox radar gun) at Rice, so the Tigers made the perplexing decision to draft a relief pitcher with the top pick. Like the time they hired Bo Schembechler as team president, this one didn't quite work out."

Bigworm on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 1:34 PM

joe on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 1:53 PM

douglas on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 1:53 PM

he knows me, i played with his brother at derby city for two years, plus from st. matthews. not well or anything though, i've never hung out with the dude in my life except once when i messed with some ballard chick who was friends with his girlfriend. he's very anti-social. i think it'd just be funny if he gets all famous and someone does one of those profiles they do before playoff games and shit about players and they highlight his traumatic experience of vandalism on his field, and how he used that for inspiration

douglas on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 1:53 PM

sowers cy young, i hate to say it but the dude's legit.

joe on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 1:59 PM

Here is an invitation to a derby party I got from a girl at work.

Well, it has been decided folks. Mike and I are having a Derby Party, that is if you jokers decide we are worthy of spending a Saturday night with. It’s not so much a party as just an excuse to barbeque, drink, and engage in pointless conversations. It is of course on Derby Day, Saturday May 6th. I haven’t really set a time because you all know you are welcome whenever. What time is the Derby anyway?
Please just let me know if you are planning on attending. We want to make sure we have plenty of eats and drinks. Feel free to bring significant others or any friends who don’t have anything else better to do because they are losersJ Just kidding…

ADP, they do 401k's and payroll accounts for companies thru out the nation. bottomline stats, 50K base, no more than 40 hrs. a week (a definite plus for someone who's used to 60 hour weeks), full tuition reimbursement, lots of room for advancement, pay raise every 12 months, pretty solid, so needless to say, it went well and now i hate my job more b/c i'm just here until i hopefully (knocking on wood right now) get a job offer.

Other than the fact that thismovie has Justin Timberlake in it, i could still see it. Christina Ricci as a nympho? And Sam "Mother-Fucking" Jackson. Hell Yeah.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0462200/

Marc on Friday, April 28, 2006 at 9:46 AM

I'll rent the United 93 movie. Won't got to the theater multiple reasons. I'm cheap, I know how it ends, and just in case my eyes get some "dust" in them no one will be around. Other then that, I know it's too early for a lot of people, but we all knew a movie would be eventually made. I actually expected a made-for-tv-movie a year or two ago. This is a way for some to grieve for and honor the passengers of United 93, as well as the rest of the lives lost. So I won'tjudgeanyone for seeing it, or making it.

douglas on Friday, April 28, 2006 at 10:11 AM

yeah, it's nice they want to honor them, etc., oh wait, no they don't, they want to make money, so they construct a story 90 minutes long based on 2 minute taped calls they have to loved ones as they're about to die in the single biggest terrorist attack against the united states. yes, a movie was inevitable, i realize that, but i just don't think i like Hollywood making money by telling the story of an event where they ultimately have no clue what the fuck went on, and in turn passing it off as "a true story."

joe on Friday, April 28, 2006 at 10:14 AM

1. Flight 93 - horrible movie according to reviews
2. Let's Roll: The Story of Flight 93: this is the only other one i can find; is one made in the UK

I plan on seeing it in the theater and I am shooting for opening weekend because 10 percent of opening weekend sales will go toward the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pa.

Bigworm on Friday, April 28, 2006 at 10:33 AM

Well I think for a lot of Americans, it is too early, I think it is well deserving to be made into a movie and can't wait to see it.

Bigworm on Friday, April 28, 2006 at 10:34 AM

For some reason, people don't actually remember events unless they are made into a movie.

Marc on Friday, April 28, 2006 at 10:48 AM

Douglas,
"i just don't think i like Hollywood making money by telling the story of an event where they ultimately have no clue what the fuck went on, and in turn passing it off as "a true story."

Hey, i liked JFK (even though it had Kevin Costner), I like Farenheit 9/11 (even though it had Michael Moore), and I liked Timeline (even though it had Paul Walker and kinda sucked.)

Marc on Friday, April 28, 2006 at 10:50 AM

I spasmed andblanked ona third, wwhich will boundto come to me. So i listed a movie that Ilike but hate to admit that i like. It's so cheesy bad that its good.

douglas on Friday, April 28, 2006 at 10:52 AM

haha, timeline's not too bad, i didn't like jfk and I especially didn't like Fahrenheit 9/11. 9/11 is nothing but an attack on pres. bush and i hate the fact that there are enough liberal hippies in this country to make that movie a success and give michael moore any type of legitimacy when his views are so far left, much farther left than any democrat, that some people have expressed his views as being closer to communism than democracy. i don't like oliver stone either b/c he just came up with some stupid conspiracy theory that made no sense, much like that "world trade center" movie he has coming out soon, and it's crap that people buy into it

douglas on Friday, April 28, 2006 at 10:53 AM

and to further express my point, i hate hippies. one of the best south park episodes ever was when cartman tried to kill all the hippies.

Marc on Friday, April 28, 2006 at 11:02 AM

I'm bored and though about going to see an early movie. but low-andbehold everything at the theaters sucks. I did see 16 blocks was playing at Village 8. Lynnie said it was good, and it got decent reviews. Any of you people who hardly do any work and make your own hours wanna come with? If so I can push back my time.

Oh and 4th street was not much. got outta my last final at 8:15PM. That fucker was long and hard. (that's what she said.) I had a decent time with Doug and Mudd. I'll say this though, there must be a lot of plastic surgeons making bank in Louisville. I saw so many huge beautiful breasts that I'm thinking someofthese ladies musta had help. But nonetheless... Kudos God. Kudos plastic surgeons.

Bigworm on Friday, April 28, 2006 at 11:03 AM

Corporate Barney - Most awesome guy ever.

Just living the dream.

Marc on Friday, April 28, 2006 at 11:07 AM

Oh wait The Sentinel is out. I LOVE 24, and this movie looks kinda like another Jack Bauer vehicle. Imight do that one inside, or ifIfeel up toit, in addition to. That's right I rock. Just like corporate Barney.

Bigworm on Friday, April 28, 2006 at 11:11 AM

How does the director not know what happened on the plane? The director spent a lot of time researching this event and talked to the loved ones who had phone conversations with others. Don't get caught up in the minute details. So what if Johnny whipes his forward on the big screen instead of scratching his balls...those are the details they don't know about. This movie also unfolds with the air traffic controllers and others who finally realize WTF is going on.

Plane gets highjacked - people are wondering WTF is going on, accessing the situation

People make contact with family via telephones on plane and cell phones - find out other terroristic attacks

Heroism - People realize WTF is going on and decide they aren't going to die without a fight. Sacrafice themselves and save the lives of other Americans.

Bigworm on Friday, April 28, 2006 at 11:14 AM

All I know is, I bet there will be a lot of people crying during this movie. On yahoo, this movie is rated an A- by the movie critics, ranging from B- to A. In fact, one critic said if you survive the last hour without tearing up/cryingyou are "made out of granite".

Barry on Friday, April 28, 2006 at 11:23 AM

hell of a lot of Jagerbombs, maybe we should try this for GBITT 2006-07

Phil on Monday, May 01, 2006 at 8:53 AM

as of right now only Spitz, Dummervil, Brandon Johnson, Stanley and Travis Leffew are with teams I believe.

Marcus Vick is also still unsigned.

joe on Monday, May 01, 2006 at 8:55 AM

Louisville Fire should sign Vick

Bigworm on Monday, May 01, 2006 at 9:34 AM

Marcus Vick would be a joke as a professional football player. It is true that that kid does have ability, however, his off the field antics, as well as, the lack of class he showed Dumerville is the reason nobody wants that headcase. He is definately more trouble than what he is worth, so perhaps he should just head up his brother's posse.

joe on Monday, May 01, 2006 at 9:37 AM

CFL?

douglas on Monday, May 01, 2006 at 9:40 AM

shit dog, he should be a muhfuckin' rapper, cuz he's hardcore and shit

Phil on Monday, May 01, 2006 at 9:43 AM

I think the Falcons should sign Marcus Vick. The big knock I have on Michael Vick is 1) he's fragile and 2) once his ass inevitably gets knocked out for 3-4 games some big white dude has to come in and the Falcons suddenly needs to become a pocket passing team. So they sign Marcus Vick for the league minimum and let him back up his brother. And structure his bonuses like so:

If he doesn't get caught trying to intentionally injure anyone during a game + $250,000
If he doesn't get caught with any drugs during the seasons + $500,000
If he (or a member of his posse) doesn't pull a gun during the course of the year + $500,000

Hell, the falcons also drafted Jimmy Williams out of VT who is also a world class fuck up. The VT to Falcons world class thug pipeline would only rival the UC Bearcats to the Trailblazer connection.

Jay on Monday, May 01, 2006 at 10:09 AM

I would like to wish a happy birthday to D'Arcy (38) of the smashing pumpkins.

joe on Monday, May 01, 2006 at 10:21 AM

Alex Van Pelt NFL quarterback (Buffalo Bills) is 36. Curtis Martin NFL running back (New England Patriots) is 33. Austin Croshere NBA forward (Indiana Pacers) is 31. Darius McCrary Walnut CA, actor (Edward Winslow-Family Matters) is 30. Kimberly Grigsby Miss Virginia Teen USA (1997) is 27.

Phil on Monday, May 01, 2006 at 10:29 AM

Alex Van Pelt is actually only the offensive quality control coach for the Bills (seriously).

Brock on Monday, May 01, 2006 at 10:36 AM

Your rant was almost complete Phil, except... its UC to the Denver Nuggets pipeline. If you are going to pull a burn, know the facts.

Phil on Monday, May 01, 2006 at 10:42 AM

I'm not terribly sure what they do, but most teams have one.

Phil on Monday, May 01, 2006 at 10:45 AM

huh, I could have sworn that at one point the trailblazers had something like three bearcats with police records or something rediculous like that.

so much so that when I tried to figure this out I stumbled upon a newspaper article regarding a potential kenyon martin to the trailblazer trade and i believe the quote was "one would think portland would have learned to avoid headcases from the Bearcats."

please note: I in no way am implying current coaches / players are thugs.

Brock on Monday, May 01, 2006 at 11:05 AM

Current Denver roster includes: Kenyon Martin, DeMarr Johnson, and Ruben Patterson. They contained Danny Fortson for a long time. Patterson is the only bearcat to play for the trailblazers in a while. Van Exel my have played a season there once, but at no point has any team had 3 at once like right now.

Brock on Monday, May 01, 2006 at 11:06 AM

I was looking up Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children on IMDB, and there were some interesting cast choices. (For those of you who don't know Advent Children is an animated movie sequal to FFVII) Rachel Leigh Cook is the voice of Tifa, and the guy who did the voice of wolverine in the X-Men legend games is Vincent Valentine. Phil, you'll be happy to know that Aeris is back, but she's played by Mena Suvari. I didn't recognize the guy who was the voice of Cloud, but he has been in several live action movies.

A co worker and I went to the king bufet for lunch and our complemintary fortune cookies were great. The chinese word on mhy cookie was Yu which means Fish. And my coworkers cookie was Tang which means sugar.

So as we were paying i asked the chinese girl how to say fish sugar in chinese and she said "Yu Tang" pretty quick as i was paying. I almost pulled a nut because i was laughing so hard. I fucking dropped my debit card and i couldn't breathe. I asked her again how to say it and of course she said it again. It was even funnier the second time she said it.

I know, i am immature.

As some of you may, or may not, know I am going under the knife tomorrow. In the rare case that I do not survive this ordeal, I wanted to let you know that I really like almost everyone of you (Farnsley knows what I am talking about). I would also like for it to be known that should I meet my untimely end tomorrow, I want to be stuffed (like a bear) and placed in my cubicle. I would also like for the members of my immediate group to sing (on a weekly basis) old Irish drinking songs, as well as offer me various flavors of alcohol and cigars. Also, I would like my body to continue to attend our weekly meetings as a source of inspiration and for its comedic value. My wife has been made aware of my wishes. Speaking of my wife, I would like for one of the more trustworthy members of this tightly knitted group to make sure that Burket stays away from her. I can't go off into the afterlife knowing that degenerate is with her and my beloved children. It just does not sit well with me.

Bigworm on Tuesday, May 02, 2006 at 3:33 PM

So what do you guys think about a "private party" at O'Sheas one night?

douglas on Tuesday, May 02, 2006 at 3:44 PM

a private party could be fun, as long as i get to beat up anybody that tries to intrude

Brock on Tuesday, May 02, 2006 at 3:54 PM

Does this "private party" involve nude female guests?

Bigworm on Tuesday, May 02, 2006 at 3:56 PM

According to Tommy Oshea, we have to spend about $150/hr on their products. I also inquired if it was possible to get a private party for Derby Weekend. That way if possible, we should be able to avoid high cover charges and apply that money to "product". Here is their appetizer list:

O’Shea’s Irish Pub
Party Price sheet

Wings……$59.99……per 100
Pepper Balls…$42.99…Per 100
Chicken Strips…$59.99…per 50
Potato Skins……$49.99…..per 50

Crock pot Spinach Artichoke dipWith nacho chips………....$42.50
Crock pot Con Queso dipWith nacho chips………….$42.50
Beer Cheese (3lbs.) W/ Crackers ..............$42.50
Honey Dijon Chicken Skewers...........................$59.99 per 50
Chef Thomas Jackson can prepare any other dish that you might want for your gathering feel free to call with any questions.

joe on Tuesday, May 02, 2006 at 3:59 PM

Joe, I have a feeling that you, like many others here, will be asking "what are we doing Saturday" all the way up to Saturday morning with little response, much less a tangible idea.

Green Baron on Tuesday, May 02, 2006 at 4:33 PM

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060502...lYwN5bnN1YmNhdA--

Ok, I'm not surprised by John Daly being addicted to something...everything, it was the $5000 slot machines that got me. Are you kidding me? These things exist? Man, you got a serious problem when you have enough money to casually spend on this machine looking for the big bucks that you already have.

Wing Commander on Tuesday, May 02, 2006 at 4:57 PM

I find this amusing:

"According to Tommy Oshea, we have to spend about $150/hr on their products."

Any given Friday or Saturday we can beat that number collectively by double, and with the way I tip those waitresses, someone should have gotten naked by now. I say it is time to open up a competitive pub called:

Patty O'Natty's: For the drinking man, and loose women.

Opening weekend promotion, at 1AM the waitresses take their tops off and deliver all food with only their "Nacho Thong" on. Also, we have free Sybian rides for the ladies...can't forget about the ladies.

Wing Commander on Tuesday, May 02, 2006 at 4:59 PM

Mmmmmm Nachos.

Who is coming to trivia tonight? We have $50 to spend on $2.50 imports bitches.

Bigworm on Tuesday, May 02, 2006 at 5:01 PM

Good call Wade. I should make it this time and we can discuss the idea of a private party.

Wrecking Crew on Tuesday, May 02, 2006 at 7:35 PM

I think we all know what is going to happen on Saturday. We'll end up cooking out at Joe's since nobody else has a place big enough that will allow all of us over. The drinking will start earlier than usual and continue for most of the night. Lots of food will be consumed. We'll rehash old stories. Play some cornhole. Drive to Wicks if anyone's sober enough, or walk to Brendans if we're not. If it's really exciting we may play RISK. Someone will crash at Joes. Someone will puke. Phil's car will be there in the morning. And most of us will have hangovers. Oh yeah, and there may be a horse race we watch on TV.

Jay on Tuesday, May 02, 2006 at 8:54 PM

Bigworm on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 8:53 AM

Check out these citations from the article.....what?

"Underage drinking is worth nearly $23 billion a year to the alcohol industry, or 17.5 percent of all money spent on spirits in the US annually, researchers from New York's Columbia University report."

"And abusive drinking by both underage people and adults may account for nearly half of all money spent on alcohol each year."

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060502...age_drinking_dc

joe on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 9:25 AM

Can we get Chris Redman and Jerry O'Connell for GBITT in the future?

douglas on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 9:34 AM

i only want jerry o'connell if he's bringing his fiancee.

joe on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 9:35 AM

adrian on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 9:35 AM

If we get Redman, then we need to get Couch and play some UK vs UL football.

Bigworm on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 9:38 AM

Jerry O'connell rocks...and we must remember...he is the original "The man the legend" atleast where the idea came from.

Bigworm on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 9:39 AM

Fuck Redman and Couch...we have the greatest Bellarmine intramural qb ever to step foot on the field in Philco.

joe on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 9:41 AM

I don't know guys Bmac was a pretty good QB and Jay's QB rating is through the roof. I think we need a Jay vs Redman in the 40.

douglas on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 9:49 AM

u guys would be proud, scroggin just asked me who o.a.r. was and was thinking about going to check out their show at 4th street tonight, and i quickly responded, "they're nothing but a sell-out college fraternity band that is only listened to on campuses by pretentious fraternity pricks who think they're cool by listening to what they view as 'alternative' music."

Phil on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 9:52 AM

On the other hand, there will be a large amount of drunk (and mostly like completely baked) chicks at the concert.

But tonight is the midnight magic show at the monkey wrench! Or so I'm told.

anyone doing anything for lunch today?

Phil on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 10:04 AM

oh, and I know I was being set up for this, but I'll take the bait:
I think b-mac threw more interceptions in one game than I did in my career at QB.

Of course, I am also tied with Chris Burket for the Bellarmine Intramural record for fumbles at 1.

adrian on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 10:06 AM

Phil, you were very accurate from ten yards and closer.

Jay on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 10:06 AM

Wishbone is the only song by Dropbox that I have heard, but I think it's a pretty kick-ass song. I can try to get redman to come to GBITT, but I don't know about Jerry "Trip McNeely" O'Connell. I'm we could just call up Tim Couch on our own, it's not like he's doing anything now. Is he still the QB for the Browns? If so, it's not like he's doing anything now.

joe on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 10:07 AM

GBITT red carpet gala

Jay on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 10:08 AM

Joe was right, I do have an excellent QB rating. And I'll challenge redman to a forty. And, the more we drink, the more it would go in my favor, because I'm pretty sure chris is a lightweight. With booze.

Bigworm on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 10:08 AM

Last I heard on the UK board is Tim had some tryouts this offseason with the dolphins for sure and a few other teams. He is still trying to recover from his injury.

Of course I tell all the UK fans that "Tim is done. Let it go" and it really pisses those guys off.

douglas on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 10:13 AM

as much as i hate to say it tim's done, he got cut by the packers two years ago when they really needed a backup, and the bears never picked him up and instead went with kyle orton, if he's not better than kyle orton, then it's time to hang 'em up.

Jay on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 10:16 AM

So, we should have no problem getting him to GBITT.

joe on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 10:19 AM

If you ever testify in court, you might wish you could have been as sharp as this policeman.

He was being cross-examined by a defense attorney during a felony trial. The lawyer was trying to undermine the policeman's credibility....

Q: "Officer -- did you see my client fleeing the scene?"

A: "No sir. But I subsequently observed a person matching the description of the offender, running several blocks away."

Q: "Officer -- who provided this description?"

A: "The officer who responded to the scene."

Q: "A fellow officer provided the description of this so-called offender. Do you trust your fellow officers?"

A: "Yes, sir. With my life."

Q: "With your life? Let me ask you this then officer. Do you have a room where you change your clothes in preparation for your daily duties?"

A: "Yes sir, we do!"

Q: "And do you have a locker in the room?"

A: "Yes sir, I do."

Q: "And do you have a lock on your locker?"

A: "Yes sir."

Q: "Now why is it, officer, if you trust your fellow officers with your life, you find it necessary to lock your locker in a room you share with these same officers?"

A: "You see, sir -- we share the building with the court complex, and sometimes lawyers have been known to walk through that room."

The courtroom erupted in laughter, and a prompt recess was called.

joe on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 2:50 PM

So a guy at work is burning me season 1 of entourage. Also another guy at work randomly brought in a copy of "where the buffalo roam" for me saying I just thought you would like this movie. That is a Hunter S. Thompson movie, Fear and Loathing guy.

Phil on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 3:19 PM

i'm surprised jerome hasn't handled brock's comment yet...

Jerome on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 3:27 PM

Well, looking young and being ancient isn't just a black or asian phenomenon. That Bowflex babe does alright for 50 and I think she's the starting point guard for some Aryan league hoops team.

But see you gotta remember ... any ninja named "Gumble" on television has already made some deal with the Dark Lord for eternal youth, fame and fortune. The price is that he gets ridiculed by his people for being a cream filled sellout.

Brock on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 3:27 PM

I've got to get me a pair of those jumping stilts... unfortunately I'll need to drop at least 20 pounds or they won't work properly. Can you imagine playing basketball with guys all wearing those things. SWEET!

Jerome on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 3:28 PM

If Phil played hoops with those stilts, he might actually touch the net

Bigworm on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 3:28 PM

Brock - those things are fucking awesome. I am going to have to drop some weight before I can get them though...maybe instead of an xbox 360 I can get a pair of those.

Brock on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 3:29 PM

I just got back from running. This is the first time I have gone in close to a year. I probably only ran .5 miles (maybe .6) but I feel like crap. There was some nice uphill action, though. And some old guy on a riding mower wearing a face mask gave me a thumbs up. So I've got that going for me.

Phil on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 4:50 PM

once you get the friendly head nod from runners in the opposite direction you know you've made it. But a thumbs up is a step in the right direction. I'm off to go running myself in an hour.

Jay on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 5:01 PM

I was just flipping through the tv, and Lynyrd Skynyrd was on CMT. Not only were they on CMT, they had two douche bags singing with them, and it sounded like they "countried up" sweet home alabama a little bit. Not that it's that hard to do, but I still almost threw my remote through the tv.

Bigworm on Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at 6:42 PM

Tommy O'shea says that O'sheas can accomadate us on Derby Day if we like. We must spend about $150/hr and we can do 2 or 3 hours if we like. Let me know if you guys are seriously interested in doing something because if so, if we get 10-15 people that go $30 that pays for it right there.

Marc on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:21 AM

I'm interested Wes.I'll bet most everyone else is too. I mean we could spend $30 each just going to two bars with covers. (O'Sheas, Flannagans, Molly's, Willy's will all be at LEAST $10-$15 cover) that night. Not to mention the food we can get, oh yeah and booze. We know Wicks will be free if we choose to go to another bar. I say we do it, but that's just my bet. I'd be happy at Joe's too. But if we are thinking about going out to bars at all, then this is the best idea.

Marc on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:25 AM

We should do that OR.... what wassuggested at lunch today, and use the O'Sheas party idea for the next Natty Sci holiday. Hmm....let's see when is that? Oh wow! Is that my birthday on Friday the 26th (or Saturday the 27th, if it makes it easier) Wierd! Oh and make it a surprise party. I don't want to see it coming. lol

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 8:38 AM

Well I am not suggesting that we don't go to Joe's or wherever first. I just think that if people want to go out, this is a pretty good option because none of us are willing to pay $10-15 bucks to get in the door, but I think we are all willing to spend $30-45 bucks on booze once inside.

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 8:39 AM

$30-45 bucks on booze/food

joe on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 8:53 AM

Not that this isn't a good idea, but I like Marc's idea of doing it some other time. Give us a little more time to figure things out and such. Generally, we have made Derby in the past into a 12+ hour day. Plus, If we go to my place first I think some people will not eat or drink as much at O'sheas. That is my 2 cents. Believe me, I have no problem having a party moved away from my house, as long as it isn't 4th of July.

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 9:11 AM

Joe - that works for me. We can do it farther down the road sometime. I just think that if people want to go out this is a good way of doing it. Not that we would be there all day anyways, but say if we left your house and went to a bar around 7 pm..then we would start the day out early and our cover could be applied to bar product. I love going out on Derby, but I don't like paying high cover prices just go get in.

Of course, we can say fuck it and start our own Irish Pub (Natty O' Patty's) and rock it out from there.

Check out some of these designs these guys want to turn into t-shirts. You guess it, he is a UNC fan.

Adrian, thanks for the race video.

Watching that race again is great because Secratariat jumps out and races with the rabbit horse and then lives him in the dust and they have to keep switching camera angles just to keep all the horses on the screen. But the best part is the home stretch when he lights up some kind of rocket fuel out of his ass and makes the pack making the turn look like they are in slow motion. Undoubtedly the greatest horse racing performance of all time.

douglas on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 9:48 AM

i'm sure we'll all be straight drunk before we even go the bars, so i know my bar tab probably wouldn't be $30 on derby night, but you're right, it is a very good idea. we can't get started too early though, b/c this is the greatest party night in louisville, and we need to prepare for a long haul

joe on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 9:51 AM

Phil on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 10:41 AM

So I ended up going down to see O.A.R. last night. Ran into Scroggins briefly, so he made it down there.

The good: When they played songs that I knew they didn't sound like a bunch of faggity jam band frat fuckers. They sounded like their older albums where they were probably drunk while recording. To me that's a good thing.

The bad (besides the obvious being at fourth street issues): I only knew three songs (Black Rock, Hey Girl and Crazy Game of Poker) so most of the songs were foreign to me. They did play that song wes likes and it sounded pretty good.

The best part was that Dixie's boyfriend (he goes to school with one of amy's friend's boyfriends - small fuckin' world) actually gave me a high five when Hey Girl came on and said "THIS IS MY FUCKIN' JAM" and started dancing around.

Phil,
I know this is late but i just read your trivia question. Was the question which winning horse other than secretariat posted a better time that two minutes?

I know in 1973, Secretariat and Sham (the second place horse) both had under two minute times.

I am not quite sure about Monarcos. I know he won the derby and posted a very fast time.

Anyone care to look into this because I really don't feel like doing the research.

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 12:17 PM

Adrian I questioned taht at 10:36. I'm with you.

Phil on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 12:20 PM

actually, sham's time was 1:59.80 so I guess three horses have times under 2 minutes.

Monarchos was 1:59.97

adrian on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 12:22 PM

Good look up phil, and here is a question.

Who won the very first Kentucky Derby?

adrian on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 12:23 PM

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 12:23 PM

Actually that is what makes Secretariat's 1973 win even more impressive, according to historians, beceause they were neck and neck at the wire and both came in under 2 minutes.

Monarchos had the 2nd fastest winning time but the 3rd fastest time.

Jay on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 12:30 PM

I'm kind of late, but Phil, I posted that star wars thing at 10:00. Reposting is gay. Just like O.A.R.

Is there a way to find out how many posts have both o.a.r. and gay in them?

Brock on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 12:40 PM

The reason Aristides' time is so high is b/c the Derby used to be 1.5 miles instead of the 1.25 miles it is now.

adrian on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 12:43 PM

I also thought it was because the first ky derby was fixed and the "expected" winner was so far back, Aristides slowed down to try and let the other horse win. But since he was so far back he went on and won.

Barry on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 2:54 PM

jenn sterger had an article on si last week but there were no pictures of her and i didn't think anybody actually cared about what she had to say, so i didn't post it.

Barry on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 3:05 PM

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/20...spot/index.html
you knew this one was coming

"Why do you continue to malign our 'Canes? Nine overall 2006 draftees and a record 12 consecutive years with a first-round pick indicates that UM is still elite. Granted, we need to show better on-field results than we have the past two years, but don't be surprised by an imminent return to form in 2006!
-- Rich Lillis, Miami

You're absolutely right, Rich. Nothing says "elite" like losing a bowl game 40-3 and falling at home to a 7-5 Georgia Tech team. It's almost like watching Michael Irvin, Bernie Kosar and Alonzo Highsmith reincarnated"

Phil on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 3:12 PM

barry, i think you means this article:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/20...lbag/index.html

Barry on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 3:16 PM

oops

Phil on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 3:20 PM

check out the description of the owner of the trailer in this article regarding stolen art in the New York Times. There's a phrase I didn't think I'd see in an art article in the Times.

Phil on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 3:21 PM

damn it: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/05/04/a...nyt&emc=rss

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 3:32 PM

I just want to say..thanks Raja Bell.

joe on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 3:35 PM

go figure, the other guy on here that said he liked o.a.r. reposted something. whats that make him.....gay!!! Oh and that marriage thing.

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 3:36 PM

And he is posting again.

Way to go Jackass!

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,194251,00.html

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 3:37 PM

All I know is, whenever I drive you drunk asses anywhere. Windows are down and we are jamming O.A.R. the whole fucking time.

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 3:38 PM

O.A.R. is gay but Metallica is cool? Make sense out of that.

Brock on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 3:44 PM

On a similar topic, POISON is coming to Cincy this summer

http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/16003C78DAC04B82

Its Mullet-time!

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 3:45 PM

Metallica was the biggest sell out in the history of bands. That's right LARS you sold fucking out, when you made your first music video..ONE! If you want to talk about ass ramming homosexuals with shitty music start and end with Metallica.

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 3:45 PM

Poison are even bigger queers than Metallica..if that is possible.

joe on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 3:46 PM

I never said anything about O.A.R. selling out. My argument the whole time starting at O'sheas was that O.A.R. didn't sell out because they always sucked and were always gay.

douglas on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 3:51 PM

they are gay

joe on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 3:57 PM

yes metallica never should have cut there hair. However, they fucking rocked hardcore for how many years? I think they deserve to do almost whatever teh fuck they want. almost.

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 3:57 PM

O.A.R. could very well be homosexuals no doubt, but I still like their music. Too bad I didn't make it to the concert cause I could have been rocking with the rest of the queers, who likes women! Sweet I'm a lesbian.

On a side note - any guy who wears leather pants is gay!

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 3:58 PM

Joe - it's good to stand up for gay rights like you are doing for Metallica.

adrian on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:00 PM

Um....I bought a new sound card the other day....

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:01 PM

And some of their music is good. But they are indeed gay - see above statement for reasoning.

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:02 PM

But it is a well known fact that I do like gay music.

joe on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:04 PM

anything and everything from the 80s in music is therefore gay

Barry on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:04 PM

metallica's selling out was a lot more than just cutting their hair. And Lars can eat a big fat dick. The really sad part of it all is that I actually bought St. Anger. Easily one of the worst cd's i've ever bought.

joe on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:06 PM

the haircut was the beginning of the end.

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:07 PM

90's still rock though!

joe on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:07 PM

still supporting metallica now is like rooting for your favorite player well past their prime. I'm still hoping Rickey Henderson finds a way back on the field. Barry, Junior Seau still hanging in there?

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:08 PM

Is anyone going to Genny's tonight?

Brock on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:09 PM

Metallica is Gay, O.A.R. is gay, Soundgarden is gay, Aerosmith is gay, Jimi Hendrix is gay, Beatles are gay, gay, gay, gay.... we get it fellas.

joe on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:11 PM

dave mustaine was too gay for metallica. Wow, megadeth is super gay

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:12 PM

Whoa Whoa Whoa. Jimi is the exception to the wearing leather rule. C'mon Desert Fox, there is always an exception.

joe on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:15 PM

We can listen to him but we can't actually hear him

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:19 PM

That's right Joe. We can listen just can't hear Jimi and that is why he is never going to be gay.

Brock on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:19 PM

Any critique of music that links Hendrix to inferiority automatically nulls that person's opinion of music forever. Thus, you might as well stop talking... 'cause you just voided yourselves. Blasphemers!

joe on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:20 PM

he is above and beyond us

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:20 PM

However, the beatles are really super duper gay. Almost as gay as the word super duper itself.

joe on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:21 PM

gay as all the other boy bands

Brock on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:22 PM

Hey Phil, you should create the stat of who wrote the word "-ay" in their post the most, much like the F-bomb post. That might reduce its application to everything... similar to the "skeet, skeet, skeet" period.

joe on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:24 PM

I am making a good run at the overusage of the word gay

Brock on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:29 PM

A good run?? This is more like a habit or addiction.

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:33 PM

Brock you are the only one to mention Hendrix in a negative standpoint, Joe and I both respect Jimi though we cannot understand Jimi.

adrian on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:33 PM

Name three songs of Jimi?

adrian on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:34 PM

"hold on wait, let me look it up real quick"

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:35 PM

The Wind Cries Mary
Purple Haze
Foxey Lady

3 songs that everyone knows - without looking that shit up.

Brock on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:36 PM

I was referencing the "leather pants" comment to point out the general ignorance of blanket "gay" accusations.

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:37 PM

Brock - do you own leather pants?

Brock on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:37 PM

Its sad that Jay isn't here to join in this discussion... he usually gets bored with the sports talk, but he's not here for the music.

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:38 PM

Jay would say that Jimi is awesome and call you gay.

Brock on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:38 PM

Of course not, but I don't claim that all who wear them are gay.

Brock on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:39 PM

I would never call Jimi that word... it was implied by Joe and yourself in the leather pants comment.

Brock on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:42 PM

Thanks to O.A.R. and leather pants, May 4th is one of the top posted-on days.

I'm also proud of moving into the more than 2 posts-per-day ranks.

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:43 PM

Well when I first thought of that comment I was thinking Kirk Hammett, Judas priest and if you look back through the comments after you pointed out Jimi the first thing that came out about Jimi was he is the exception to the rule.

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:44 PM

So does anyone want to go to Jimi - just don't wear leather pants.

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:45 PM

Shit, I mean Genny's!

Brock on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 4:45 PM

I'm sure there are many other exceptions to that rule, I just can't think of any right now.... mainly because I don't focus on who wears leather pants, because that, in itself, is... well... gay.

Jay on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:00 PM

I was actually working the last part of the day. And wes, you can stop bringing up the stone roses. YOU LISTEN TO O.A.R. AND PUDDLE OF MUDD. They are the two gayest frat bands EVER. And, in order to drive us around, you would actually have to leave your dog.

Jay on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:00 PM

I meant house.

Brock on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:05 PM

Ok, maybe Jay shouldn't jump in... a little heated there big guy?

Jay on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:08 PM

Dude, I'm just saying.

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:14 PM

Stone Roses Suck!

douglas on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:17 PM

jay, don't lie, u meant the wife

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:17 PM

yes i do own CDs of those bands. Blurry still kicks ass! Atleast it's not the stone roses or violent femmes.

Jay on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:17 PM

Touche, Wes.

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:18 PM

Hey amigo, whenever you guys are in my situation and your wife is going abroad for several months then you would do the same. And if not, then maybe you shouldn't have married her in the first place.

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:22 PM

Jay - my favorite CD is Oasis What's the Story Morning Glory.

English rockers who would probably fit in very well with the nattysci way of life.

Bigworm on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:24 PM

Douglas - atleast I don't pull the line "baby's momma probably wouldn't like that". It's one thing to be a bitch and lose your edge when you get married, but when you are single?

So don't even play the wife card.

Phil on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:25 PM

Liam Gallagher credits the Stone Roses as the most influential reason as to why he got into music.

Just saying.

Brock on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:25 PM

Wes, the only reason the guys rag on you is because of your "I'm never gonna get married" stance for ages past. Its sad that drunken claims of glory will haunt you forever, but we all have 'em.

Green Baron on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:26 PM

WTF?? Man, I got to move to Japan:

http://www.ifilm.com/ifilmdetail/2681076

No nudity, but probably NSFW nonetheless; unless watching Japanese chicks orgasm is totally cool with your boss.

douglas on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:26 PM

when do i ever play that card? usually if i ever say that, it's immediately followed up with, "well i don't care, she'll get over it." i'm the absolute last person anyone would ever call whipped

Jay on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:27 PM

Wes, Phil is right. The Stone Roses were rockers, and they did influence a generation of british music.

Jay on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:28 PM

Hey douglas, you are kind of whipped by baby mama, but considering that you're going to marry her some day, it's okay.

Brock on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:29 PM

I can actually hear Wes screaming "Jackpot" from the Baron's video.

Wing Commander on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:29 PM

Rare footage of Phil after I left the night that we hung up his plasma:

http://www.nothingtoxic.com/media/1..._of_Hard_to_Get

I swear to God, one of you mentions OAR again on here, and I will suspend service to this hosting account so fast, it will make you think Jay tripped on a power cord. Think Google search terms people, the band name which shall not be said should not be one of them.

Queers.

douglas on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:30 PM

don't you ever utter such nonsense ever again! i'd be the absolute worst husband ever

Jay on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:30 PM

Thanks to O.A.R., Stone Roses, and everything and everyone being gay, today is the second highest rated day for comments. I know joe already pointed out that today made the list, I'm just saying it is now in second place.

Jay on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:31 PM

Wade, I made that comment before you posted yours. Mea culpa.

Jay on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:32 PM

You might be the worst husband ever, but since when has that stopped anybody from getting married.

Brock on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:33 PM

I don't give a shit about OAR, but threats of cutting off Natty Sci.... those are fuckin' fightin' words my man! THROW DOWN!

douglas on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:33 PM

i'm smart to enough to stop myself before such tragic events occur

Brock on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:35 PM

Douglas, you're dooming yourself... we've heard all these words before.... many, many times before...

Jay on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:36 PM

Hey douglas, if you're in vegas, drunk, are you telling me there is no way you could be tricked into saying "I do"?

I'm just saying.

douglas on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:40 PM

i've been to vegas, where i've been completely obliterated, stories i defiitely can't share on the internet, and not once did i ever come close to throwing my life in the shitter, no offense married people. and as brock put it, i feel that i am dooming myself, so no longer will i speak such utter mistruths regarding the "M" word except to say i hope no one's holding their breath for me

Jay on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:41 PM

Yeah, but when you went to vegas, baby mama wasn't with you.

Jay on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:41 PM

And remember, the two who were the most vehement about not getting married were the first two to go down.

Brock on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:52 PM

And with Jay, the discussion comes full-circle. Its almost like we need references for this. "Not getting married" by Wes Goodloe and Chris Burket. 2000.

Jay on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:53 PM

Speaking of which, Brock, when are you going to tie the noose, I mean, knot?

Brock on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:57 PM

When will then be now?? Soon....

Jay on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 5:59 PM

When did it happen? Just now sir.

Green Baron on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 6:02 PM

You guys shouldn't have mentioned tied the knot. Brock is now putting on leather pants and cranking up the O.A.R.

Jay on Thursday, May 04, 2006 at 6:37 PM

They just showed Sway from MTV in a fighter plane piloted by crazy ass Tom Cruise. Does he want to die?

Bigworm on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 7:58 AM

Tom Cruise has a pilot license Jay..unfortunately he will be fine. I think he is just reliving the glory days of Top Gun....not that anyone on here would want to re-live the glory days of their youth or college.

Isaac - OAR isn't gay enough for Brock.....I am thinking he is probably wearing assless chaps and rocking out Judas Priest, as much as Judas Priest can rock it out atleast.

And yes it is true that the drunken English hooligan brothers that formed Oasis were inspired by the Stone Roses, I just like to ignore that little fact and for the record I only give Jay shit about the Stone Roses because I have been doing it for about 8 years now and changing that would mean accepting that I am getting old which I refuse to admit. Hence the reason why I still try to drink like I am 21.

And I have a new theory on Metallica. Although their music is sucking a ton of ass right now, those guys aren't gay. I mean really, the Black album alone says these guys are fucking studs. They are just on a bad acid trip that has lasted for several years now and at some point during this experience they saw some dude in assless chaps rocking out to Judas Priest so they think that is how society is suppose to be. Brock didn't you go to watch Metallica in concert? Damn you Schweitzer, not only did you ruin the Godfathers of Metal, you aren't going to take my advice from New Years? That's right Schweitzer it's great in the fire come on in!

Bigworm on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 8:05 AM

Brock - however on one very drunk night you received a signed paper by yours truly that I will get married by 25. Had I not, you would be trying to whore me out every night we went out till I finally got married. Wait a minute?

Bigworm on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 8:09 AM

Oh yeah and I also like Jimmy Buffet music. Who doesn't like Buffet? His concerts are a lot of fun because everyone is drunk and he is leading the way.

joe on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 8:12 AM

Personally, of the good metallica CDs, I would rank the black album pretty low.

adrian on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 8:25 AM

Sad But True is more than enough song to rank the black album equal to all other metal-lica albums.

adrian on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 8:28 AM

Also name a better metallica song to air drum to other than Sad But True.

Phil on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 8:38 AM

anyone else get a phone call from marc at 2am?

joe on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 8:43 AM

Did anyone see the time snoop dog dig sad but true?

joe on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 8:45 AM

http://youtube.com/watch?v=wdNKEuLw...ad%20but%20true well now you can

adrian on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 8:58 AM

Intel Conroe chips will be here in a couple of months. If you are into video editing, gaming, or just want an overall kick ass cpu, the wait is almost up. AMD can kiss its ass good bye.

Bigworm on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 8:58 AM

Joe - the reason why you rank the Black album pretty low is because there is not much crazy go kill your mom and beat your dad metal music blaring.

adrian on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 9:00 AM

Actually most metallica fans will rate metallica black low because it was definately the most commercialized album of metallica's.

adrian on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 9:01 AM

People have different taste. Me personally it is my favorite metallica album.

Bigworm on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 9:01 AM

The best part of that video is the pimp staning next to the "D to the O the double G ya see"

Bigworm on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 9:04 AM

That's right Adrian, because Metallica produced a product that more people would enjoy instead of just metal heads.

Of course, the "hardcore" Metallica fans claim that they sold out when they made their first music video....ONE....but those people are just mad that their "favorite small time band became to big to fit in their back pocket" according to Lars.

joe on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 9:04 AM

wow I was typing that same thing wes

Bigworm on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 9:09 AM

Want to watch Google's stock fall?

http://news.moneycentral.msn.com/pr...&ID=5697729

adrian on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 9:10 AM

Wow wes, what did that take you a whole two minutes to rip that quote off the internet and pass it on as if it was your point...come on...come on

Bigworm on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 9:10 AM

Joe - great minds think alike.

Bigworm on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 9:12 AM

Adrian - that quote came from Lars when Mtv was covering the whole Metallica Roasting thing, the same show where Snoop did Sad But True. Didn't rip it off the net, I watched the show a few years back and am blessed with a decent memory.

adrian on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 9:15 AM

Google stock falling...damn my wishes are finally coming true...now only if starbucks would topple then that would be proof that GOD answered my prayers.

Bigworm on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 9:16 AM

Adrian - it takes to long to rip shit off the net and isn't as much fun to use someone else's thoughts. If I wanted to plagarize I'd write a book, like that Harvard chick.

Bigworm on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 9:19 AM

I agree. I am convinced starbucks is trying to take over the world.

joe on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 9:19 AM

If I didn't plagarize I wouldn't have a college degree.

Phil on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 9:19 AM

Bigworm on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 9:29 AM

Great Philco - I never read The Onion (I am a stern hoosiergazette supporter and will be until the second coming damn it) and now you convinced me that they are aliens who are capable of reading our innermost thoughts. Damn you aliens.

Working in general does suck. I don't ask for much..just to be the sole jackpot winner of about a $400M dollar powerball lottery.

Bigworm on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 9:31 AM

Cinco de Mayo day! So should we do Ernesto's for lunch today?

Jerome on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 9:39 AM

Nah ... I'm boycotting all immigrant staffed restaurants today. I'm 'Merican and the rest o' them's just MORANS

Bigworm on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 9:41 AM

Wow...good point Jerome. They try to hurt out economy..we hurt theirs. Tit for tat. Try sending money home now without any coming to your restaurant.

Bigworm on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 9:42 AM

With that being said, i don't really care about that so if anyone wants Ernestos hit me up.

so what's the deal for tomorrow? when we getting to joe's? do we need to bring anything? who all's going? i'm only here for another hour or so so I need answers....

Phil on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 10:04 AM

I think the dude that draws BC has finally lost it: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/fun/b...p?date=05042006

Bigworm on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 10:10 AM

Adrian - I found this on the front of CNN, since we were talking about this the other day I decided to post it.

"Sudan's strife-torn Darfur region appears to be on the verge of a breakthrough peace agreement after three years of violence that has exacerbated what the United Nations calls the worst humanitarian crisis in the world, officials said today. The United Nations says 180,000 people have died from illness and malnutrition since rebels began attacking in February of 2003, and some 2 million have been forced from their homes."

Phil on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 10:11 AM

i'm up for whenever on Saturday.

Sometime around 2? 3? What time is derby?

Bigworm on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 10:14 AM

Yeah is anythign going on for Derby? Whatever is cool with me?

joe on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 10:14 AM

first race is at 11 derby is at 6:04. Bring stuff. I'll light the grill.

douglas on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 10:17 AM

we need a bookie

joe on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 10:18 AM

what do a fat bitch and a brick have in common? both will eventually get laid by a mexican.

Bigworm on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 10:19 AM

Desert Fox - can you get us covered with a bookie? This isn't incriminating at all is it.

Brock on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 10:21 AM

Unfortunately, my bookie passed away this past summer. That was my grandfather's deal... so both of those good men are gamblin' it up with Jesus now.

Jay on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 10:22 AM

Back to wes's first post of the day- I assume that Tom Cruise is a decent pilot. I'm just saying, if I was crammed in a tight space with him I would probably kill myself. Tommorow, I will bring some burgers and chips (left over from Phil and Edoug's cookout) maybe some liquor.

Jay on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 10:23 AM

Oh, because we don't have ernesto's today, we're eating La Fiesta Grande. GO IMMAGRANTS! Woo-hoo!

Bigworm on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 10:24 AM

Joe - what time can peopel come over?

Phil on Friday, May 05, 2006 at 10:24 AM

Does anyone have some extra coaxial cable? I'm gonna try to run a tv outside if the weather is nice. My cable in my room isn't long enough to make it to the window. If I can get some more I can make it out the window. If no one does I'll just pick some up somewhere. Can we expect an appearance from the Marcus Brody experience and their number 1 fan?

7. John Rocker
A guy so obnoxious he pulled off perhaps the most incredible feat in sports history: making Mets fans seem classy by comparison.

Had we known how much we'd miss seeing him fail, we might not have taken such glee in seeing his big league career crash and burn.

While mooning might have been inappropriate for Bobby Knight as he left an international basketball tournament, it pretty much summed up a lot of people's feelings when a fan ran onto the field at Dodger Stadium, dropped trou in front of Rocker and slapped his own butt for emphasis.

Phil on Monday, May 08, 2006 at 5:45 PM

Basketball is not jumping out of bounds and yelling "timeout." The play is a bullshit play. You might as well be able to call timeout after you shoot the ball in hopes of a do over.

The difference is that a defender can steal a pass and call the timeout when going out of bounds, so this isn't an advantage for the offense over the defense. Its a reward for a hustle play.

Brock on Monday, May 08, 2006 at 7:05 PM

In your logic, they should rule out timeouts all together, b/c if you get caught in a trap, and call a timeout... you basically get a do-over of the play. Same with timeouts for inbounds.

With 20gb hard drive - 499.99
With 60gb hard drive - 599.99

That is freakin' insane.

I agree with Brock. In my opinion it is silly to not allow the person falling out of bounds to call the time out and here is why. You must have control of the ball to be granted a timeout, which of course is determined by the referees.

1. It is a hustleplay that rewards the person most likely busting ass to secure the ball.

2. If this is not allowed then what else isn't allowed. So are the out of bound lines counted as a plane like in football. If a person is standing inbounds and does the MJ move where you hold the ball behind you (out of bounds) is that a turnover.

3. What about the 3pt shot? So you start behind the line, yet your momentum carries you in front of the line so is that not a 3PT shot.

I understand your feelings on the subject Phil, but IMO if they were to change a rule like that they would need to evaluate the rest of the games. That is personally one of my favorite plays in the game.

Phil on Tuesday, May 09, 2006 at 9:33 AM

You got some good points there wes. I also think it's a hustle play.

Maybe I'd be ok with it if every once in a while when someone like Beau Zack does it and lands before calling a timeout that they call a turnover and then charge them with a timeout.

Jay on Tuesday, May 09, 2006 at 9:50 AM

Did anyone else think How I met Your mother was gay last night? They need more of Barney and Marshall's antics.

joe on Tuesday, May 09, 2006 at 9:52 AM

I hope the writers learn from their mistakes

Phil on Tuesday, May 09, 2006 at 9:53 AM

didn't see it. was it like a wedding one or something?

Jay on Tuesday, May 09, 2006 at 9:57 AM

No, I don't want to spoil it from you, but apparently, ted never learns from mistakes.

Happy birthday to Rosario Dawson and Gostface Killah.

Bigworm on Tuesday, May 09, 2006 at 10:02 AM

You don't understand how badly I wanted Lilly to "drink the milk". I was sitting on my floor with my fingers crossed saying "Do it. Do it." repeatedly while Abby was starring at me wondering why. For the obvious of course, because that means that Barney, Ted, and Marshall would all be hanging out and Barney calling the shots.

Those episodes would have been Legen............Dary!

First of all, I just want to apologize for any grossly inappropriate comments I made Derby Day. The time after slamball is a little hazy until we watched How I met your mother. Between the EtOH and shot I took to the head, my memory is shot.

How I met your mother was gay, but Two and a half men did not disappoint. It was actually very reminiscent of us giving tips to 14 y/o on how to cop a feel.

Just a technicality, Wes, the football goalline is a plane, not the out of bounds lines. As long as your toes are in, the ball can be out of bounds. I hate the falling out of bounds timeout, but if your giving credit for hustle plays then the jump ball needs to be addressed as well. Are all loose ball timeouts being addressed (ex. falling on the ground and calling a timeout before the jump ball)?

Bigworm on Tuesday, May 09, 2006 at 10:41 AM

As long as you have control of the ball and call a timeout it should be granted.

Chris - the jumpball is addressed..they alternate the posession arrow.

Yeah that is true chris, however, in football if you run out of bounds with control you keep possession unless it is a turnover on downs. People use that to stop the clock (like a timeout with being charged for one). In basketball it results in a turnover, so it is a decision that must be made to determine should i burn the timeout and keep possession now, or give them the ball and burn that timeout when I am dead tired.

Bigworm on Tuesday, May 09, 2006 at 10:43 AM

Two and a half men was pretty good last night.

joe on Tuesday, May 09, 2006 at 10:48 AM

All sports should be enclosed playing surfaces

Wrecking Crew on Tuesday, May 09, 2006 at 10:51 AM

By addressing the the jump ball, I mean rewarding the defense for making a hustle play. Alternating possessions only rewrds the hustle play 50% of the time.

Bigworm on Tuesday, May 09, 2006 at 10:58 AM

This is pretty funny..yet terribly wrong.

http://www.break.com/index/amazingracist58.html

Bigworm on Tuesday, May 09, 2006 at 10:59 AM

yeah but the offense can also jump out of bounds and call the timeout. It's a hustle play period, not just a defensive hustle play. Whoever is "hustling" gets the call.

Bigworm on Tuesday, May 09, 2006 at 11:00 AM

enclosed with an electric fence and the use of trampolines or other people launchers should be used at all times. Instead of kicking extra points, people should be launched threw the uprights..like Mtv use to do on that silly couples contestant shows.
