Making it happen now!

Phil on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 4:27 PM

Pretty sure I just heard someone in the Vikings game yell "Learn the fucking rules!"

Brock on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 4:54 PM

My aunt and uncle are in Buffalo and watched the game. They say its a madhouse.

Brent on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 9:11 PM

Phil, you're going to find yourself in a rare situation where you have to root for the Cowboys on Monday night. If they win, you win the weekly pool.

Brent on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 9:11 PM

BTW, that's the lamest football video I've ever seen, even for the Bills.

Brent on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 9:13 PM

Actually nevermind, looks like that Chris McDonog guy will win.

Brock on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 9:14 PM

The Ric Flair cameo on the Cleveland Show is pretty comical.

Phil on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 10:00 PM

all the bills haters gave me the edge. Luckily I hate both the skins and Cowboys.

Phil on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 10:14 PM

Someone connected to Kansas State seems to think that Louisville and Cinci are going to be the first two into the Big 12

Brock on Monday, September 26, 2011 at 11:02 AM

The only reason you hear Cincy is because its a K-State source. The Huggins connection. Honestly, there are so many rumors now that someone will be right by default.

douglas on Monday, September 26, 2011 at 11:55 AM

I can't imagine ul not ending up in big 12

Phil, you didnt see anyone get murdered on the schnitzelburg pub walk Saturday?

Phil on Monday, September 26, 2011 at 1:30 PM

Never made it out. But my irrational fear of drinking in germantown is looking more and more rational. Ever since Declan got fucked up I've been iffy about that general area.

Brent on Monday, September 26, 2011 at 1:40 PM

I was just reading about that...one punch. Damn.

I don't know what is more sweet. First place or beating Joe to move into first place. Nemesis.

joe on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 7:49 AM

I'll be ready when the playoffs come around.

joe on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 11:00 AM

I don't know what game excites me more this weekend:

St. X - Trinity
Bellarmine baseball alumni game
UL-Marshall
UK-LSU

Brock on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 12:22 PM

St.X-Trinity is this weekend? I am surprised I didn't know this. Probably because it will be a slaughter. We will be in town for a wedding Friday night. Obviously my cousin is not a Trinity grad.

Phil on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 3:34 PM

Joe sent me this text:
Larger margin of victory? LSU or Trinity?

joe on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 3:37 PM

the radio started it with who scores more points this weekend.

joe on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 4:00 PM

I'm going Trinity. Last year the rivalry game required a running clock at the end meaning 45 point lead. LSU has a really strong defense, but the offense isn't exactly dominant

Phil on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 8:30 PM

google has released google gayday

Brock on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 11:53 PM

Phil on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 12:50 AM

Indeed

Bigworm on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 8:40 AM

LSU, have you seen UK play.

Bigworm on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 8:44 AM

Probably buying a car this weekend. Anybody want to chime in on what I am looking at:
1) 2011/2012 Hyundai Sonata 2.0 turbo limited
2) 2011 Ford Taurus Limited
3) 2008 Infiniti M35x
4) 2008 BMW 528 xi

The Infiniti and BMW are both cpo cars while the other two are new. I drove 1 and 2 yesterday, and to be honest the Hyundai has the edge. It's a nice car.

joe on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 8:53 AM

#1, I like the idea of a new car. The 2008 Taurus I didnt like and I still hold a grudge. I had bad blind spots historically with the Taurus.

Odds that both LSU and Trinity put up 50 points?

Bigworm on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 8:58 AM

LSU might not put up 50, UK lost 49-0 in Baton Rouge last time but Miles called off the dogs. He could have scored 100+. I don't think we crossed mid field until the 2nd half if at all.

I wonder how many defensive TDs LSU will have against UK? Over under at 2?

joe on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 9:10 AM

will both teams win by more than 45?

Bigworm on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 9:12 AM

Trinity is going to beat the shit out of St. X. I would say be careful because it is a rivalry game, however, Trinity is just too damn talented.

LSU and Bama are the best teams in the country, UK is one of the worst. LSU wins by at least 45, unless Miles calls off the dogs early.

Bigworm on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 9:13 AM

I'd be shocked to see UK on their side of the field in the first half.

joe on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 9:18 AM

45 is trinity's magic number, because at a 45 point lead the clock doesnt stop and that is embarrassing.

I see trinity outscoring LSU, but I see X outscoring UK.

Bigworm on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 9:50 AM

Oh the point differential will be higher in the LSU game.

The only saving grace for UK, is the game is at 12:20. Thank God it is not a night game, as I'd just feel sorry for UK walking into Death Valley with the crowd having tail gate all day long.

joe on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 11:01 AM

chris mentioned venturing to baton rouge this weekend. could be fun. Joanna might not be safe there in her UK blue.

Wrecking Crew on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 12:13 PM

It would have been fun to go see the slaughter, but I have a clinic that morning and a high school game that night, so I don't think we'll make it. HS games on Saturday fucking blow.

Brent on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 12:13 PM

Something about owning a Hyundai doesnt sit well with me. I know they have changed their image but maybe that's just for the newer generation. Im stuck in my ways.

Phil on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 12:44 PM

Wes is married, he doesn't need to impress girls with the badge on his car. Other than that I've read the Hyundai is the way to go.

joe on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 1:23 PM

office conversation overheard today:

person 1: what part of india are you from, I can't pick up an accent or anything

person 2: puerto rico

douglas on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 1:28 PM

hyundais are actually really good cars now. the same company makes kias, so hyndais are like the acuras to hondas, or lexuses to toyotas. my dad has one and he loves it, and that's like an 08 or something. the newer ones are even nicer. i do understand the old stereotype about them though

douglas on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 1:29 PM

and as someone who was at the UK-Florida game last week, and seeing them get thoroughly embarrassed at home, seeing them go into death valley, regardless of the time, will not be pretty. florida pretty much only ran the ball the end of the first half and the second half, essentially calling off the dogs, and they still kicked UK's ass.

Phil on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 1:36 PM

Joe, how's your team doing in preparation for our big game on Sunday?

joe on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 1:51 PM

let me check with my players.

joe on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 1:54 PM

sounds like one of our better defensive skaters is questionable. He is currently at the orthopedist for a shoulder injury from sliding into 3rd base.

joe on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 1:55 PM

there is still a bounty

Phil on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 2:11 PM

We may be short ourselves it is looking like

joe on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 2:25 PM

we are about to celebrate the anniversay of the great flood of st. matthews. Anyone up for some canoing?

Bigworm on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 2:53 PM

Just test drove a 2008 Audi A6 3.2, 2008 528i xDrive, and a 2008 Inifiti M35x. They all ride pretty sweet, however, they all have 40-47K miles on them.

I am pretty blown away by the 528ix balance and weight distribution. They even have some really nice used 335i, the nice 3 series with the turbo engine but I just don't think that is the way to go if I want to have more kids.

joe on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 2:55 PM

"if I want to have more kids."

GET IT!

Bigworm on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 2:57 PM

That's great stuff Joe. Maybe your brother should buy one?

joe on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 2:59 PM

I doubt either you or chris have much to say about that

Bigworm on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 3:09 PM

Yeah not so much.

Wrecking Crew on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 3:14 PM

Bigworm on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 3:16 PM

Douglas, about as cool as you can do is a MB R350

Brent on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 3:22 PM

Wes, if I were you, I would get one of these...you have a family now and can't put a price tag on safety.

joe on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 3:38 PM

there is a yellow F650 that rides down breckinridge lane often.

Bigworm on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 4:45 PM

Brent that thing is awesome, I just saw it on MSN today as it was listed as one of the cars that is worth the price. I think it is like $625K or somewhere in that ball park.

Bigworm on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 4:45 PM

If you go F250 you better get a dually and a diesel.

Phil on Saturday, October 01, 2011 at 1:04 AM

latest rumors
The Big 12 would add BYU, TCU, West Virginia, Louisville and Cincinnati, thereby killing the Big East in its current version as a football conference. The Big 12 would then invite Notre Dame into the league for its applicable Olympic sports, but football would remain independent.

The Big 12 would then be at 14 schools and Notre Dame would agree to a situation similar to what Kevin White agreed to with the Big East in football, i.e. Notre Dame would play three Big 12 teams per year.

Notre Dame changes up its Thanksgiving week routine and Texas becomes an annual series there, replacing the Longhorns game with Texas A&M. That's the hope from Texas at least.

Notre Dame would have the first right of refusal to join in full with football should the next conference realignment step force Notre Dame into a football conference, i.e. suddenly there are four 16-team super conferences and break away from the NCAA.

Bigworm on Saturday, October 01, 2011 at 3:33 AM

I have a hard time seeing Notre Dame aligning itself with the Big 12, they fit better with the Big 10. Of course, that is just my opinion.

Wrecking Crew on Monday, October 03, 2011 at 8:35 AM

joe on Monday, October 03, 2011 at 9:00 AM

I will still swing as hard as i can all the time.

douglas on Monday, October 03, 2011 at 11:06 AM

i'm still pretty sore, my shoulder especially. i damn near threw my arm out on that diving play i had. i got way too excited when i dove for that ball and actually got it i got over excited on the throw

douglas on Monday, October 03, 2011 at 11:07 AM

you missed scroggin pitch an inning, he actually struck out the first batter, got the second to pop up to first, and the third only got on b/c of an error at shortstop. he actually didn't do too bad, however he said yesterday he was supposed to go bow hunting but wasn't sure he'd be able to pull the bow back his arm was so sore

joe on Monday, October 03, 2011 at 11:24 AM

had I not had UL tickets I would have stayed and pitched an inning. Honestly, I'm glad I left because if I did pitch my arm wouldnt be right for a month. I definitely wouldn't be able to play softball tonight.

Police are investigating a shooting at a horse farm on L’Esprit Parkway in Henry County.

Kentucky State Police received a 911 call Sunday alerting officers that the farm’s manager, Gregorio Figueroa Calderon, 29, had been shot.

Calderon was transported to University Hospital in Louisville for life-threatening injuries.

Four unidentified Hispanic males in a white Jeep topped with black canvas are wanted in connection with the shooting.

Investigators continue to follow leads to determine the identity of the perpetrators.

Then I got in a pickle between third and home and my way out of the pickle was to turn into the throw and get hit by the ball. It worked but I have a nice bruise on my arm.

Phil on Tuesday, October 04, 2011 at 12:36 PM

So douglas' b-day saturday, you sure you ruled out fireworks already.

douglas on Thursday, October 06, 2011 at 12:38 PM

i just had my lawn redone recently, and the company that did it left a sign in my yard. i had it up for maybe two or three days b/c i was too lazy to walk outside and pick it up and walk it back in. i got a letter a week later, after i'd already taken it down, saying i needed to take the sign down b/c that's strictly prohibited. i don't feel like seeing what angry letter i'd receive if we play w/ fireworks

douglas on Thursday, October 06, 2011 at 12:38 PM

Laura took keira to a dog show up at the KFEC. There is a dock jumping event where dogs do a long jump into water. Keira randomly entered it and came home with a blue ribbon with a jump of 14 inches! No other dog entered her division. if this happens 4 more times she is officially labeled a champion dock dog. All the other dogs were jumping 10+ feet putting them in another division.

joe on Friday, October 14, 2011 at 11:26 AM

i would think 14 inches would be equivalent to falling off the dock.

Phil on Friday, October 14, 2011 at 12:29 PM

douglas on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 1:05 PM

it's easy decision for bengals, they're paying a shitload for a guy not playing, they're getting rid of cap space and gaining a first round pick and future considerations. raiders are desperate. i guess mike brown finally found a deal good enough for him to get over himself

UofL AA board approves contact extension for Charlie Strong. Deal is for seven years.

douglas on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 1:51 PM

i can't believe they're giving him an extension already. granted i'm bias, but his current contract wasn't up for another couple years, and i know there's been improvement since the kragthorpe era, but i don't know if it warrants an extension yet. he must've been getting interest from other schools

joe on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 1:54 PM

Phil on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 2:26 PM

from deadspin today:
You are chosen to compete against 9 other people. All ten of you are locked in a standard Home Depot. The place is dark except emergency lights above exits. The goal is to kill one another to become last man standing. Last person alive gets to leave.

You are allowed to choose 3 pieces of equipment to aid you. Anything with a bar-code counts as one piece of equipment. For example, if you choose a nail gun, then a container of nails will be needed, so that would equal two pieces of equipment. You can use only the equipment you choose, no scalping from dead guys.

What three weapons would you choose and what would be your strategy?

joe on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 2:53 PM

The WD 40 for the fires?

I was thinking about what to use to wear as protection, but maybe a good hideout is the way to go. It seems the fires and stairs setup would be good combo with the nail gun too but if you need the wd40 for strategic fires then you'd be left to burn

Phil on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 3:10 PM

Wait, I just found the Survivie-All Vest III. I don't see how you don't start with this bad boy
http://www.homedepot.com/Tools-Hard...catalogId=10053

The SURVIVE-ALL VEST III is a patent-pending product designed for use by any person. It is best described as a post-disaster survival kit that is a wearable vest. It is constructed of lightweight durable black nylon mesh. It is constructed to be large enough to fit over clothing. The vest is one-size-fits-all in design. The medical belt is available in small, medium, large and x-large The vest has black cargo style pockets sewn on the front. There are three pockets on each side. The top pockets are the smallest and they increase in size with the bottom pocket being the largest. Several large storage compartments made of durable nylon forming a backpack are attached to comprise the back of the vest. The vest includes Velcro components to lock supplies into the pockets. Contents: Emergency Power Station, Foldable multi-tool, Whistle With Thermometer & Compass, Duct Tape, Safety Glasses, Gloves, Dust Mask, Emergency Space Blanket, Toe and Hand Warmers, 1 Person, 3 Day Supply of Food and Water consisting of three 1200 Calorie Food Bars and 12 Water Packets. Also included 6 First Aid Kits which consist of: Bleed Care Kit, Burn Care Kit, Cut, Scrape & Sliver Care Kit, Eye Care Kit, Fracture Care Kit, and a Sprain Care Kit.

Brock on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 3:13 PM

The Palmer trade include TWO first round picks from the Raiders. That is amazing! Also, the Bengals were not paying Palmer anything this year. He was breaking the contract by not playing, so they didn't have to pay. HOWEVER, the Bengals were required to keep salary cap room ($10million) to cover Palmer returning anytime during the season. This deal immediately opens the cap room, relinquishes the Bengals from paying Palmer (since he never played), and they get two first round picks.

If they were smart (and they aren't), they would make a big trade for an impact player this year with that new salary cap room and one of those first round picks.

Phil on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 3:21 PM

People who bought the vest also bought a Crane 1-Gallon Cow Shaped Cool Mist Humidifier, HoMedics 2-Speed Neck and Shoulder Massager with Heat, and a Coleman FlipLid 6 qt. Cooler with Molded Beverage Holders.

That's some solid apocalypse planning right there.

adrian on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 3:25 PM

I honestly don't know if raiders picking up Palmer is a good or bad thing for them.

Phil on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 3:26 PM

I think its the worst trade since the Hershel Walker trade.

Think any team is hustling to add Carson Palmer to their fantasy team unless they are desperate?

douglas on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 3:31 PM

i'd have to say like a hatchet, or an ax small enough to throw. if there's emergency lights, there'd at least be enough light to see people close, and if someone's coming at you with something big, you could throw that at them. the wd40 and lighters are a good idea, your own personal flamethrower, but i'd say a fire extinguisher might work better, you spray that, blind them, and then hit them with the hatchet. plus you don't give away your location with a big ball of fire.

Brock on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 3:34 PM

Palmer is going to be rusty. I doubt he does anything spectacular this year. Although the Raiders do have some strong young talent at WR. It could go either way next year: Palmer has a good season in a new setting (Matt Hasselback) or pulls a Kerry Collins and takes a dump on the field. Honestly, Palmer has never been the same since those cheatin' Steelers ruined his knee. He's gun-shy now (Footsteps Palmer?).

Brock on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 3:37 PM

A hatchet is over-rated. Imagine having one of those carpet kickers with claws extended swiping through the air Wolverine-style.

Phil on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 3:48 PM

There's always the trusty chainsaw. But even still, I'd rather have a projectile weapon.

I'm going Survivie-All Vest III, the Hilti DX 460 F8 Powder Actuated Tool Value Package (comes with 400 nails) and 750 square feet of bubble wrap.

Find myself some place nice and quiet up high, and then line the entrance to this area with the bubble wrap. I'd have multiple days worth of food and water, and an early warning system. With the food and water by day two or three you should be left with only a handful of people that are injured, hungry and exhausted.

douglas on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 3:48 PM

or if you get one of those extended paint rollers to do ceilings and high walls, you could put a knife on the end of it or something, of course then you'd need duct tape or something to hold it together, so that's 3 things there

Brock on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 3:53 PM

Tree-trimmer with saw blade. Some even have tiny chain-saws

joe on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 4:01 PM

fireextinguisher, lighter and flammable stuff. set the entire place on fire and hide in a corner with the fire extinguisher.

Phil on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 4:02 PM

Hmmm, my bubble wrap would not help against the building going up around me.

douglas on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 4:02 PM

http://www.homedepot.com/Outdoors-G...catalogId=10053

this would be good, plus it's got rope w/ it. you don't want anything with a motor b/c it draws attention to yourself, you get one of these and no one gets within 7-14 feet of you, plus if you're good enough you can lasso fuckers first

Bigworm on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 6:51 PM

I guess I'd go with:
1) http://www.homedepot.com/Kitchen-Cu...catalogId=10053

2)http://www.homedepot.com/Tools-Hard...catalogId=10053

3) http://www.homedepot.com/Paint-Spra...catalogId=10053

So I guess the idea is that I will have a backpack full of awesomeness that I can wear on my back to double as some sort of armor. I will have a plethora of butcher knives that will rip into the flesh, and some spray paint shit that I can use to blind people. My pack contains plenty of items that can be used for make shift weapons, food, water, and even some emergency lighting if needed.

Bigworm on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 7:02 PM

I figured that I'd keep it simple, I mean it would suck to choose something complicated and then have to put it together under the emergency lights as I guess you'd be a sitting duck.

they have a massage therapist that goes to the different locations. she's a cute asian girl. sarah refuses to do it with patients, in her words, she didn't go to school all those years to learn how to rub people.

At which point the assembled media members probably tugged on their collars cartoonishly. We were set to excuse Pitino's analogy on a technicality—he had only been married 27 years when he had his affair—but then we looked closely at his words. He's not talking about a 15-second fling, but actually leaving the love of your life. And he's right. Brent on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 12:12 PM

You are going to try and run a 19 min 5K but only a 1:50 half. Why dont you try and break a 1:40, that seems a little more reasonable.

Brent on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 12:18 PM

Adrian, I think its a good idea to do the plyometric routine once a week and then you should go to track on Tuesday night at 7:30 at Waggener high school. If you want to run a sub 19 5K, you better be ready for some pain.

Phil on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 12:22 PM

Brock, did you crack 19 at the desales invitational sophmore year or were you one of the poor bastards that hit 19:00?

Phil on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 12:30 PM

my favorite element
http://canv.as/ugc/original/efaad43...6a0187cb1d.jpeg

joe on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 12:42 PM

Phil, what was your PR? I think soph. year I was around 18:10 at seneca. Then I quit caring so much and put on weight. running was easier at 130 lbs vs. 160 lbs.

Phil on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 12:53 PM

17:36 at the horse park, and I had a couple of other times around there I think at CovCath. Whatever races allowed us two varsity teams. I took me FOREVER to break 18 though. I hit 18:03 or less at least 6 times it felt like. I think Father Hemmerle might have flubbed my time from an 18:00 to a 17:59 once on a Tuesday race just because he knew I was getting frustrating.

adrian on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 1:13 PM

Joe what road bike do you own? I will need to get one next year.

joe on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 1:17 PM

I dont have a road bike. I would borrow my uncle's 1981 schwinn road bike. I'd be riding next to these guys with ironman road bikes and I'd be chugging along on my schwinn.

douglas on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 1:19 PM

i remember being able to do a sub 19 5k once upon a time

Phil on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 1:19 PM

NattySci.com may be down for some scheduled downtime in a bit.

Brent on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 1:51 PM

Adrian, if you want an entry level road bike without the cost, I suggest bikesdirect.com. There you can spend about $400 for a decent entry level bike, comparable to a trek 1000 for half the cost. If you decide you like riding and want to get a nicer bike, expect to drop about $1500.

Brent on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 1:52 PM

1981 was a good year for the Schwinn

joe on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 1:58 PM

20+ years of aging in a garage wasn't good. You and I blitzed the first 5k in that duathalon. I was smoked in the bike and you kicked my ass in the lst run

Brent on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 2:59 PM

Yeah we ran 6:30 for that 5K

joe on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 3:21 PM

all I could think after that first 5k in the duathalon is that oh my god I did that way to fast I am going to die.

Brock on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 3:54 PM

My best time in HS was 18:12. I ran a ton of Tuesday races around 18:45. My objective was to stay under 19. 6-7-6. However, I always ran the first mile fast and paid for it on the hills. The DeSales run I did sub 19, but Hoban finished behind me due to Hobanitis.

Michelle and I ran a 5 miler back in April. She was 3 months pregnant, so I kicked her ass. With no training whatsoever, I managed a 9:11 pace with a 45 minute time. http://besttimescct.com/results/richland11.txt

We bought Tommasso road bikes for Jack-and-Back. Michelle got the slightly better model for less than $700 and I got the base model for under $500. The construction is good on both, but the derailleur and shifter are crap, so you could get a solid base and splurge on those parts. Even though I had to replace the chain halfway through because those gears suck balls, it held up for the 150-mile ride.

joe on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 3:56 PM

I'm with chris, I've destroyed my joints. I don't know if I could get back into serious running if I tried.

Phil on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 11:54 PM

Went to Rupp tonight. Guy behind me yelled "John Wall!" well over and over again. At one point instead of the blue / white cheer he managed to get john! / wall! going.

Arena was about half full so the guy had everyone's full attention. It was pretty impressive. Poor tayshaun prince prince barely got any love at all. My TAY! SHAUN! chants went on deaf ears.

Phil on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 11:59 PM

T-will also had an awesome dunk. I fully expect it to be on deadspin

joe on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 8:18 AM

I'm getting too old for softball doubleheaders. my knee is killing me, but it was worth the pain to hit a walk off bottom of the last inning rbi single to beat a little league rival.

adrian on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 8:53 AM

Phil why did you go to Rupp?

Phil on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 9:50 AM

drunkenly agreed to go. I figured the game would be like a WWE game and would be quite fun.

I probably had more fun than anyone there, and talked shit about the villians more than anyone else. Seemed like 99% of the fans there couldn't care less about the kentucky allstars besides John Wall and Enes Kanter.

joe on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 10:25 AM

can anyone explain a connection between a knee injury and calf cramping? the more my knee hurts the more cramps I get in that calf.

i was at rupp as well phil. i heard the john wall chant. i was in the third row behind the basket near the villains, you might've seen the guy behind me yelling at the villains. his favorite was "hey rudy, your last name is GAY!" that was always good for a chuckle. he got corey brewer laughing at the free throw line when he yelled "you're too skinny brewer, eat a hamburger"

Phil on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 12:49 PM

Nice. You see the little kid schooling the villians? He was a fucking baller.

with Louisville looking like they are going to CUSA 2.0 because their football isn't very good I hope this plays out:

Charlie Strong: [at a team meeting] Can I have your attention, please?
[picks Will Stein and leans on it like a walking stick]
Charlie Strong: I have something I think you all ought to know about. It seems that Texas doesn't think too highly of our worth. Despite being superior in every athletic, academic and media reasons, they feel that WVU is going to somehow make their league more stable,... and leave us in the CUSA 2.0.
Teddy Bridgewater: Even me?
Charlie Strong: Even you, Teddy.
Victor Anderson: What if we DON'T finish last?
Charlie Strong: After this season, you'll be sent back to playing ARMY or Louisville will just give up football all together
Dexter Heyman: [Dexter stands up] Well then I guess there's only one thing left to do.
Teddy Bridgewater: What's that?
Dexter Heyman: Win the fucking Orange Bowl

The rumor now is that WVU is being considered because they have a wrestling program and Louisville doesn't

joe on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 2:13 PM

big 12 has iowa and iowa state, they dont need more wrestling schools.

Phil on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 3:29 PM

They don't even have dedicated wrestling facilities. Cornel to the big12?

joe on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 3:38 PM

Good call Phil. Cornell, the only college in the nation with an arena dedicated solely to wrestling (per Cornell Jeopardy).

Brock on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 9:11 PM

The problem with your "Major League" scenario is that UC is in the same desperation boat, sits atop the conference undefeated, and already beat Louisville. Suck it Tom Jurich, Cincy hired former Mizzou assistant AD, Whit Babcock... the puns in use are endless and look who has a toe in the door of the Big 12. Honestly, staying in the Big East is better if they can hold AQ. Legit shots at BCS and don't have to deal with Texas bullshit. Madison Square Garden sounds so much more fun that a Kansas City arena.

joe on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 9:47 PM

Basketball seats are sweet. Kentucky ale taproom directly behind me with wood ford lounge not far away. Oh yeah and 34 rows from the court.

Phil on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 10:29 PM

right now it seems like Wvu, cinci and louisville altogether is the least drama, drama version. Other option Ive heard is WVU, Louisville and BYU in football / ND in other sports

Brock on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 1:49 AM

Joe, how many seats do you have? Are you in a section that requires a substantial donation on top of seat cost?

joe on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 6:29 AM

2 tickets, laura's student tickets. Regular student prices.

They were saying undergrad students needed IDs, but it wasn't enforced last night I don't think. I dont know how they would tell between under grad and grad student tickets. Phil was old enough to be the dad of some of the students in our section.

Phil on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 12:29 PM

First thing Pat asked tme when I got home was if they were checking IDs

Phil on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 12:54 PM

tell pat grad the school is saying grad students dont need IDs but undergrad does require an ID (one student ID per 2 tickets i believe).

Phil on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 1:44 PM

He was curious about the process of student ids and whether we had to enter through a specific door. I told him they were grad school tickets so we didn't have to jump through any hoops.

joe on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 1:59 PM

I have reason to believe that somehow they screwed up laura's tickets and we shouldnt be down there.

Phil on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 2:48 PM

those reasons being?

joe on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 3:02 PM

knowing where most grad students seats are and looking at the crowd that was surrounding us.

Phil on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 3:18 PM

Hell, I was the third youngest person in our section ahead of you and the kid I kept saying "fuck" around until they left at half time

joe on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 3:38 PM

we were the awkward aged people. looked like a lot of parents of college kids and then real college kids, and then us. There were the people I was talking to when we were leaving who were using their daughters student tickets who is a senior at UL. I babysat her, her older brother and her younger sister.

Poop of the week on the jamboroo is a special runners version

Last winter I was training for a marathon, and that in itself has lead to some unbelievable shits, but this particular one stands out. Five miles into a long run, the rumbling from below turns into sweaty cramps, thank god, there was a gas station in sight. I raced in the front doors, and went right to the back as quick as possible while holding my cheeks together. It sounded like a upside chocolate volcano, and it covered everything, of course the toilet is broken. I get everything ready in the stall and bolt out of the store. Safe. Next week, same run, body reacts the same way. As I am crossing the parking lot, I see the gas station guy literally vault over his counter, and he runs out of the store screaming, "No, no, no, no, NO!" I put up my hands and say sorry, I will buy a Gatorade this time, he screams "No, you defiled my store one week ago, you are banned forever!" I had to the poop in the woods, double humiliated.

emai lat work:

To all

As the season and weather changes, so has the timeframe of sunrise and sunset. With these changes we ask that everyone be observant of their surroundings as they come and go. We have heard of recent reports of violent acts occurring in and around the 4th Street Live area. We would like to share some preventive safety tips, to arm you with helpful ways of avoiding dangerous situations.

Remember, there is usually safety in numbers. Wait in a coffee shop or in a well lit area for the public transport to arrive
Always be alert in parking lots, specially when it's dark. If you are afraid, don't be too shy to ask someone to escort you to your car.
Always approach your vehicle with the keys ready.
Always check your car before entering .
Windows should be up and doors locked even when driving to avoid unwanted passengers at intersections.
Never leave your car unlocked.
Don't use music devices with earphones when walking in isolated areas at any time.
Don't presume that because your area has been "safe" thus far, that it will continue to be so.
If you see or sense problems on your way, just change your route and - prepare to run or defend yourself.
Be alert at all times.

If you have any further safety questions or concerns, please contact the office Safety Officer

Wrecking Crew on Wednesday, November 02, 2011 at 8:09 AM

If you didn't know (I didn't until I finally looked it up), it's the equivalent of wearing pink in October. Don't shave to show your support for men's health issues, specificly prostate cancer. Since some men wear pink, do you think any women partake by leaving some parts unshaved?

I'm not sure you'd call it racism, but the "Compare a black QB to another black QB" and "white basketball player to white basketball player" (or wide receiver) always rubs me the wrong way.

When Teddy Bridgewater signed up people were comparing him to Randall Cunningham, Michael Vick, Warren Moon, and Vince Young. I'd get on there and make comparisons to the whitest people out there just to fuck with their heads. Crum should have compared him to Marcus Maybin just to fuck with them

Instead of immediately discounting people i think a simple phone call with the words "So does my mom" and hanging up. I could see that as being an asshole and helpful at the same time so the next time they apply for a job they would know not to put that shit down.

adrian on Thursday, November 03, 2011 at 6:33 PM

I watched the UK game. First half they looked like "special" people humping door knobs. They did end up winning by a shit ton but it was against Transy do that win was taken with a grain of salt. By mid season the Cats should be playing very well together and cause some damage in March.

Phil on Saturday, November 05, 2011 at 4:00 PM

that wasnt a push off!

joe on Saturday, November 05, 2011 at 4:05 PM

joe on Saturday, November 05, 2011 at 4:11 PM

both teams down 2 timeouts in the first quarter. good management of the game

joe on Saturday, November 05, 2011 at 4:14 PM

I hate myself for dropping the reference "they arent freshman anymore" when referring to UL's youth.

joe on Saturday, November 05, 2011 at 4:23 PM

ESPN article discussing how WVU big esast title shot was hit with a major blow and explains what WVU has to do to have a shot but then doesnt mention anything about UL sitting in 2nd

joe on Saturday, November 05, 2011 at 4:38 PM

Sorry Brock, I want Pitt to beat Cincy to help the Cards out.

joe on Saturday, November 05, 2011 at 4:42 PM

Houston Nutt is crazy

Brock on Saturday, November 05, 2011 at 4:44 PM

Cheering for ACC traitor?!

joe on Saturday, November 05, 2011 at 4:45 PM

So when UL kicks their ass next week it feels better

joe on Saturday, November 05, 2011 at 4:45 PM

Personally I wish they both could lose

Brock on Saturday, November 05, 2011 at 4:59 PM

That's ok. UC has to lose twice for it to matter with UofL. Yaknow, that whole tie-breaker thing due to BEATING the c.a.r.d.s

Phil on Saturday, November 05, 2011 at 5:44 PM

Louisville being #4 wouldn't be so bad. They play a Big 12 team in NY City for that...

Phil on Saturday, November 05, 2011 at 7:06 PM

that fucking horse had a nice kick

Phil on Saturday, November 05, 2011 at 7:09 PM

joe on Saturday, November 05, 2011 at 7:12 PM

mike smith and chantel sutherland?

Phil on Saturday, November 05, 2011 at 7:15 PM

yeah, mike smith beat her in the kick. Well, the horses did.

Just seemed...odd.

Brock on Saturday, November 05, 2011 at 10:28 PM

Joe, thanks for rooting for Pitt. What NFL teams do you pick tomorrow so I can make good picks?

Phil on Sunday, November 06, 2011 at 12:08 AM

hey brent, just say your text - my phone died. We went to Joe's and had the mother of all cookie cakes

Phil on Sunday, November 06, 2011 at 1:21 AM

I'd rather watch a tampon commercial before I see another Dr Pepper 10 commercial. How they think men would like that piece of shit boggles my mind

joe on Sunday, November 06, 2011 at 8:19 AM

That cookie cake is worth trying again. I'm tempted to try other fillings with the ice cream like chocolate syrup, peanut butter or sprinkles.

joe on Sunday, November 06, 2011 at 1:17 PM

If anyone is watching saints Chris is ambulance not sideline. Some dude just carted off with a bad injury.

Phil on Sunday, November 06, 2011 at 1:33 PM

I was actually just going to text you about that

Brock on Sunday, November 06, 2011 at 1:35 PM

Joe, you picked Houston over Cleveland for only 3? That is the biggest margin thus far. Seriously, let me know your picks. Is it possible to torment you more? Give it time.

joe on Sunday, November 06, 2011 at 1:37 PM

Did I pick that?

joe on Sunday, November 06, 2011 at 2:25 PM

Bobby Curtis used to run for st. x. he was the 3rd us male in the NYC marathon and 15th overall.

Brent on Sunday, November 06, 2011 at 2:38 PM

That has to be a record for Saturday posts.

Phil on Sunday, November 06, 2011 at 2:52 PM

I think curtis won the NCAA championship a few years back in the 5k.

When I was in line at the uscan at kroger it was chaos. Some dude had a cart full of shit, someone else couldn't figure out how to scan himself out, someone was paying with change and another person was just moving slow as balls. Slow as balls guy is the first to finish out of the group and I slide into his spot with my basket of items (12ish things).

I beat them all using my mad target skills. Credit card scanned and signed before even the chick who was paying could finish. Dude walks up behind me to grab my scanner is just like Sam Elliott - cowboy hat, mustache and voice. He puts his stuff down and says "Now there's someone who takes some gosh darn pride in what he's doing. Nice fuckin' work"

Possibly the greatest complement I've ever received.

Cookie cake ice cream sandwich so much better today

Brock on Sunday, November 06, 2011 at 4:59 PM

joe on Sunday, November 06, 2011 at 5:02 PM

Adrian took pictures

Phil on Sunday, November 06, 2011 at 6:04 PM

adrian on Sunday, November 06, 2011 at 8:40 PM

joe on Sunday, November 06, 2011 at 8:53 PM

Andre

Bruce

I want to make a UK one that says
Brian

I think it'll be a big hit

Sigh

Next time it won't be just a fender bender.

Phil on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 11:18 AM

I take fender bender back. The escalade they were driving around in and Terrence Jones fled from for perfectly valid reasons got fucked up. That could have been pretty damn bad if they weren't driving that beast of a car

My family went on a burger crawl tonight. Hit up Jack's, the Bambi Bar and the old Kaelins. Ordered a couple of burgers and split them among us. We ranked them on 1) Quality of bun 2) Quality of toppings 3) Quality of side dish 4) Overall burger deliciousness 5) Atmosphere

Jack's was pedestrian. Bambi bar was a solid #2 but Kaelins blew them all out of the water. That's a damn good burger. Our quest continues though

Answer: 1 in every city but your home city and buffalo.

is this you under a pseudonym, phil? question from simmons's mailbag...

Q: Suppose it's the pre-Viagra era and you are basically impotent. Once a year your wife gets all dressed up and goes out "with the girls", but is always dropped off the following morning by a guy with a mullet driving a Cadillac. While deep down it bothers you, you really don't want to say anything because you know that if she leaves you, you're definitely not getting anyone else. Isn't this what it's like being a Buffalo-resident Bills fan during that week when your team heads to Toronto?

The entire thing made me nervous and hungry.

The Denver pick tonight moves me past Brent into second place overall in the Pick'Em league. Thanks Tebow, but you are still a douche.

I went with Denver over the Jets more for the reason that New York is terrible on the road rather than Tebow doing anything stellar.

Brock on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 3:33 AM

There are people posting on Facebook that the "power of faith" is the reason for Tebow's success tonight. I would like to stab those people. So if I pray enough, will I become 6'5" 240?

douglas on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 7:53 AM

that annoys me too. what kills me about tebow that i find funny is that by all accounts he seems to be good dude, people that know him have only good things to say, and he's not out there claiming he's the best player ever or anything. it amazes me that people hang on to his faith to either hate him so much or love him so much. he can't just be a good guy who's not bad at football. he's not the greatest player b/c he prays, nor is he the worst player b/c he doesn't fuck bitches

Brock on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at 7:39 PM

That sounds like a good argument to dismantle the BCS and go to a playoff. The current system is totally screwing the SEC.

adrian on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 9:15 AM

Joe can you send me the path we took on our run Saturday?

joe on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 9:18 AM

I'll give it a shot

Phil on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 12:13 PM

Saw a nasty wreck on I-71 today. Car slammed into the wall where it merges with I-264. Every time it rains there is another car in that ditch. I'm thinking with the economy in the shitter people aren't getting new tires and brakes and it is turning the morning commute into bumper cars out there.

I'm going to work from home if there is more than an inch of snow I think. Maybe tarc it

Phil on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 1:06 PM

Someone is royally bitching at work that we are having a pot luck dinner because she is being forced to eat food prepared by strangers

joe on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 1:27 PM

I dont trust all of my coworkers cooking. I skip most potlucks

Phil on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 1:31 PM

Yeah, but you don't bitch about it to the whole office. Jerome can vouch for the insanity

douglas on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 1:43 PM

i love how when we have potlucks i've set a standard for myself that everyone else brings food, and i eat it. it's a pretty good set up we've got going

joe on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 1:48 PM

At Chase I was the "bachelor" so they sent the leftovers to my desk so I could take them home with me.

joe on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 1:50 PM

my buddy terry arranged it all. He made people believe that I was incapable of anything domesticated and I would get things like Qudoba catering to take home.

douglas on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 1:57 PM

so this just happened a couple blocks from my office:

i keep hitting refresh on the CJ expecting to see the accident I saw. Nothing. I guess that means no one got hurt I guess which is good

Brent on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 6:02 PM

I bring large compartment plates to every potluck and people worship me because of them. Of course, there is always a whiner in there, "We already have plates" but compartment plates rule the potluck. Buy some tomorrow Phil and let me know how it goes.

Jerome on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 6:07 PM

I have to agree with Brent there. The compartment plates are the best - and this comes from a fat kid.

Phil on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 6:15 PM

Brent on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 6:05 PM

Brock, how much is it? I assumed it would be just another $26. BTW, Stupid Giants, if they would of won, I would of won two weeks straight.

Wrecking Crew on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 11:26 PM

It's been a while since I've gotten to play our holiday touch football game. Of course, it gets a little dangerous in a little alley when everyone playing gets too big.

I liked
6. A Nerf ball is okay but you should own a leather football. A leather football is one of the things every home must have, like a dishwasher and a bourbon distillery in the garage.

Brock on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 9:12 AM

Actually, if the Giants would have won, we would tied this week and I was only 2 points off on the MNF score. For the overall winner, I calculated something like $300. Since there are only 16 weeks and 26 participants, that means 10X $30 left at the end.

joe on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 10:22 AM

I made a spreadsheet for the actual winnings. the dude in charge has it. Brock, how do you want your money, all at once? You are currently up 30 bucks. Phil and douglas, you all still owe 30. Brent, you owe 4 dollars.

Brock on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 10:31 AM

All at once, there will be more weekly winnings, I suspect.

Phil on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 10:37 AM

it's only 10-3. Come on. At least the cards don't lose by 50 like UK does

Phil on Friday, November 25, 2011 at 12:09 PM

joe on Friday, November 25, 2011 at 12:16 PM

Black on black tarc bus racism was hilarious on the ride home from the basketball game. Girls were lost and didn't know the way home and one yells call that white boy to come pick us up.
