i hate it but i'm uncontrollably drawn to it
Wednesday is the last day to sign up for the 3k "race" at the early entry fee of $15. After that it's $25 an no promise of a free t-shirt. Brent and I are definitely running, and Jerome is going to get his ass kicked if he doesn't.

There are a few more races coming up I plan on doing too. But 3k isn't too bad. Hell, girls cross country in high school ran 4k. Girls!
August 11th is a good 3 K racehttp://www.cherokeeroadrunners.org/events.htm#HOGS
And so begins today's demasculating of Jerome ... thanks, but no thanks. My ass is now available for kicking ...
I'm calling your wife and telling her to make you go
that's below the belt
when and where is this run?

That is early.on another note, does anyone watch Rockstar:Supernova? They sure pick some crappy songs. Do they realize they are auditioning for guys from Motley Crue and Metallica? Coldplay is gay.

The only question is whether she'll play the young sexy widow who may or may not have killed her husband, or the young sexy detective who just broke up with her partner and now is going undercover in the world of high-class hookers. any way you can get a link / transcript from the chat? i'm not an espn subscriber so i can't get to it, and i've got a major post-Qdoba dump to take care of
nevermind, i didn't realize i didn't have to be a subscriber to read the chat
anyone should be able to read it right now I think. It's going really slow, they are having some server issues it looks like (503 Service Unavailable errors). I just hit refresh a bunch until it comes up.Nothing terribly interesting on there so far.
Meh, I'd do her.

oh yes, she could get it

Joe (Philly): I loved the world cup, and am thinking about continuing to follow soccer through the English Premier League. How can I pick a team to root for and remain a somewhat-principled sports' fan when I know nothing about England?SportsNation Bill Simmons: (2:40 PM ET ) Intriguing question, I have been wondering the same thing. I was thinking about just picking the team that Michael Davies hates the most, just for comedy's sake, but that's too easy. if anyone wants to make the case for an English premier team for me, email me. I might make the leap. Soccer's growing on me, you don't have to pay attention, it's easy to follow, no sideline reporters, no commercials, no annoying announcers, the crowds are fantastic ... there's a lot to like. Brian Washington DC: I agree with you on the soccer "growing on me" thing, but what holds it back is that it is terrible to bet on. no?SportsNation Bill Simmons: (2:46 PM ET ) Yes. it's the worst sport ever to wager on, it's like trying to figure out how to use HTML. They need to solve this. I actually wanted to bet on France last weekend and couldn't figure out how to do it.

Phil, picking an EPL team is easy. you can do pick by1. The team with the most of your favorite players2. The one with the coolest logo or craziest fans3. Or you can never go wrong with rooting for Liverpool, the best team in the world. The only thing is if you are rooting for Chelsea, you are rooting for the Yankees of the EPL, except they are funded by Russian oil money

Okay, so I've always had my reservations about internet dating or whatever you wanna call it, but what the hell, I'm stuck in the middle of a goddamn desert for 3 months or more, surrounded by about 10,000 dudes and maybe 75 girls, none of which are worth a second look, so I figured I'd take my chances. I'm not really at liberty to elaborate too much, but it's worth mentioning that it works out better than I hoped it would. It looks as though my booty call this weekend will be postponed though due to a 36,000 acre wildfire which has pretty much closed off all the roads out of this God-forsaken hellhole. Now for my words of encouragement; no matter how bad you think things are going, they could be worse- you could be living in 29 Palms.

Right on, Stew!
For those that care: U of L head football coach Bobby Petrino has signed a 10-year contract extension with the school, which will take him through the 2015 season.
My day is complete knowing Petrino is staying. What a relief!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then you'll be happy to know that here's an ESPN article regarding the extension:http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/...tory?id=2517825

Holy fuck...a Frenchman with balls.http://news.yahoo.com/s/space/20060...paresforbigjump
Bobby P is a young coach with lots of energy and should have no problem getting top talent at UofL....on the offensive of end. He kind of reminds me of Hal Mumme only he can run the ball too...and a slightly better defense. Looks clean though and shouldn't land you guys on probation.
I am surpirsed someone hasn't made a nattysci private game yet.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060713...t/quad_babies_7Woman who gave birth to triplets 3 years ago gives birth to quadruplets now. Normally this story would not be posted, be it for this line:"She wanted to run," said her husband, Afredo Anzaldo, 45, who lays carpet for a living.ha ha ha ha ha.....
In other news, see "An Inconvenient Truth". We're all going to die.
Couple of comments:1. That online RISK game will officially ruin my life, career, and socializing.2. Never compare Mumme to Petrino, that's got to be the goofiest comparison of all time. Mumme had a couple of halfway decent offensive seasons because he had one or two really good players. Petrino has developed the most dominant offensive strategy in modern-day college football. As soon as he loads it with ultra-NFL types like USC does (which I don't know if UofL boosters have that kind of money - and then he would be like Mumme), then I pity those teams that play them, especially my lowly Bearcats.3. Congrats Al Gore, you told us all something we didn't know, we're all gonna die... I was worried there for a minute that I was a Highlander. And yes, I'm speaking directly to Mr. Gore because he invented the internet and has it wired directly to his consciousness.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,203298,00.html
I agree with you Brock. You shouldn't compare Mumme to Petrino. I think Guy Morriss would be a better comparison.
I was comparing the too because they both only care about offense, which I believe is obvious because UofL's defense is bad.
once mumme lost couch, he was worthless, so far luckily petrino has had ragone and now brohm, so he's always been blessed with a great QB. he probably will be able to land high-end recruits from now on b/c they'll always be in a january bowl b/c the big east is weak in football, plus w/ the new contract there's not too much of a threat of the coach jumping ship to bigger and better programs.
If you are going to compare a UL coach to a UK coach use ROn Cooper
I always enjoy a spirited UK-UofL argument!

So I had the new 99 cent chicken sandwich at Wendy's. I give it a 6/10. The bun is terrible (same one from Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger), and you get a piece of iceberg lettuce on it with some mayo. The actually quality of the chicken wasn't too bad. Overall, an incredibly boring sandwich. It might be good if you order it plain with some honey mustard to rub on it.
I rate it a little higher. For 99 cents it is fantastic.
Weather holds up, Thirsty Thursday anyone?
i can't make it 'til after 7, which completely takes the dollar drafts out of play, hence the thirsty thursday, but i could come by after 7 if people are up there
you talking about the riverbats game? i might be up for it. it's around 5? how much to get in?
gates open at 5:30 and it is I think 6 bucks to get in
$5 if you get the grass tickets, which is what I always do and usually sit wherever the hell I want.
Joe - I felt the sandwich itself is probably a 4. I bumped it up to 6 for cost reasons. I still don't know why Wendy's doesn't have Spicy Chicken Nuggets. They are sitting on a gold mine.
That is a fantastic idea, phil.
It is no 99 cent quarter pound double stack

http://news.yahoo.com/s/wlwt/200607...lo_wlwt/9508381Now, I know thugs are stupid, but come on? From a fine for littering to attempted aggravated murder of a police officer which can run life in prison? Why can't we just fry these people up front. Their should be a stupidity court, and if you are considered too stupid to enter a plea, you should be killed. I think this dude qualifies.
Green Baron, for once I agree with you.
and I as well
Jay,not the first time you've agreed, and I'm sure not the last. I'd cite the reference, but I'm lazy.
u have agreed with him before, cuz i remember you saying before "for once I agree with you baron," so this is like the second time
It is crazy when you actually think about how people have no respect for life. I mean really a fine for throwing down a can warrants you taking out a gun and shooting at someone. Crazy stuff really.
Brock - if you are still on we can play a 2 man game of risk.

i'll forever know Royce Clayton as the guy that struck out against that 40-yr. old rookie pitcher whose name I forgot, the one in the movie "The Rookie."
Picture of that iPod + Nike contraption that theoretically could be cool if Nike didn't make such shit running shoes:http://www.appleinsider.com/article.php?id=1882
I just heard about the Reds move... its been a hot topic up here. I think it may pay off. The Reds have a solid replacement for Kearns in the outfield with Freel, and Clayton for Lopez is an even swap in my opinion. However, they racked up about 4 pitchers in the deal, so I think they got the best of it.
Wes, I'm in for a game if you still are. I'm playing like 4 games at the moment that haven't moved from the 1st round, so it sucks.
u gotta hope the Reds are smart enough this year that they'll make smart moves now that they're actually in contention
Brock tomorrow at 9:30 or so let's set up a game and go from there.
If they let me back out of one of these neverending games.
Not to justify the shooting someone for something petty like a litter fine, but usually its not the initial thing that pisses you off its the incident after the fact. For instance, when someone cuts me off in traffic that usually just pisses me off, its the middle finger followed by mean mugs and shouting words that sends me into a fire engine red rage that makes me want to make the motherfucker bite the curb...Im just sayin.
Yah, but murder in a road rage carries 20 years max if you play your cards right, you'll be out in 10. Attempted murder on a police officer carries a life sentence. Getting pissed off so much for a $50 littering fine that you want to risk that? that's just fucking stupid. You kill a bad driver, and you did a civic service. I think you'd pass out of stupid court, and most likely real court too.

That was pretty funny Baron. Philco, you think you could swing by and pick me up Saturday morning? Marc, you need a ride? Adrian will probably just ride his mountain bike if he's not too busy douching his vagina.
Bobby Flay has a new TV show on the Food Network, where he challenges different cooks/chefs to a cooking throwdown on the spot to see who can make the cooks/chefs signature dish better.Pretty entertaining actually and if you love food it is a good watch. So far, he is 1-1. He won against the Chowder King but lost to some girl for a wedding cake (for the record, tonights show was his first wedding cake he ever made). If you don't know who Bobby Flay is....then bite me.

anybody go to the game last night?
I was there with some work people. They don't know how to drink except teh one that brought a flask
so is anyone going out tonight, or is everybody staying home and resting for their jog in the morning
I might be game for something.
In just under two weeks, intel is releasing their new processor (Core 2 Duo). The 300.00 mid level chip out performs AMD's top of the line 1000.00 chip in 35 of 37 different benchmark test and consumes less power. The prices will range from 180.00 up to 1,000 on release. This processor will be perfect if you are into video editing, photoshop, programming, watching videos, vidoe encoding, gaming, watching porn, etc.... I have been waiting for this chip for over a year now and the time is near!
Brock - if you want to play a game of risk let me know. And let's try to devote the day to it so we don't have to wait forever for a turn.
Lets play drunken risk tonight
Hey UK fans, Freedom Hall is booked for the IU-UK game this year, so the game will be played in Rupp Arena.
Hey I have Risk!
Adrian, Is that the Conroe processor?Wes, I'm not even at work yet... so I may be unable to play today... I'll probably have to work.
That's okay, I am owning this kid I am playing against right now. It's on a 2 player game but in 4 turns I already own South America, Autralia, and I am 4 countries away from taking over Asia and the United States.
Yeah
Gas prices on MSN are delayed by a lot. Filled up over 3 hours ago at a station for 2.99, MSN has it listed at 2.83, which is what it was yesterday.

I like yesterdays headline in the paper:Big blue not such a big deal to recruits
tubby's never been a coach that's been as successful with top recruits as he has been with under the radar guys, he's builds a program, he doesn't like one or two year players that jump to the pros, with that being said, he always has a solid team on the floor every year, even if he is losing the "top" recruits to N. carolina, Duke, Kansas, or whoever. Fact of the matter, were any of those teams in the final four last year, kansas was on a fluke a couple years ago, and n. carolina won a couple years ago, but what happened to their team? It completely dismembered and they had a very down year last year, Kentucky had its first down year last year in a very long time. Duke's been flaming out ALOT the last several years, with early exits in the tournament, etc., all with the 'best' prospects.
I thought rondo, crawford and morris were all top recruits?
they were, it was the #1 recruiting class in the country two years ago, but crawford was never going to be a one and done player, and he even said in that article 'look where that class got me.' prince was a top 5 recruit as well, but he never had any intention of leaving early, same with bogans.
#1 recruiting class in the nation lost inthe 2nd round of the tourney
Mr. T. is looking to O.G.:http://news.yahoo.com/photo/060714/...HNlYwNnYWxsZXJ5How did he go to the bathroom with all that shit on?
1865 Annie Jones Virginia, bearded lady 1910 William Hanna animator (Hanna-Barbera) 1912 Woodrow Wilson "Woodie" Guthrie folk singer (This Land Is Your Land) 1913 Gerald R Ford [Leslie King], 41st VP (1973-74), 38th pres (R-1974-77) 1918 Jay Wright Forrester invented random-access magnetic core memory 1947 Steve Stone Cleveland Ohio, sportscaster (Monday Night Baseball) 1948 Tommy Matola rock manager/CEO (CBS records) 1952 Chris Cross rock singer (Arthur)
exactly
Rondo, Morris, Crawford, and Ramel were actually all top recruits. And during their first year we made it to the elite 8 and lost to Michigan State in the tourney trying to make the final 4, not the Sweet 16. We lost in the 2nd round this past year to UCONN, and the only thing I can say is how badly we missed Azubuike and I believe Tubby didn't realize KAZ was gonna jump well to be honest beceause he wasn't ready.

We definitely need a foreign coach....or me, or Mike Ditka.
i haven't taken my shit yet so I haven't read the mailbag, but the only reason simmons said he was enjoying soccer was b/c you could have it on in the background, not pay any attention to it, and stay completely up to the minute with the action b/c the announcers went nuts every time there was a goal. the only time you had to pay any attention was during the penalty shootouts, which is the stupidest way to determine a winner ever. After 15 innings in a baseball game, they don't have a home run contest to decide the winner, they don't throw footballs through tires to find a winner
footballs through tires to settle a tied game ... I love it!!! I'm writing into the NHL for that one ... Can you see a bunch of hosers on ice skates trying to throw a football?
So I created another risk game. I am wes011 if anyone wants to play.
Jerome, I don't think the NHL is going to care much about your football throwing contest.
Thanks for the news on Arena Isaac. I wanted him gone.
It would be more appropriate for two guys to just fight to the death by using their skates as knives... that's what most people care about anyway.
Personally I want Portugal's coach. (He won a cup with Brazil)
Brock up for Risk?
Sure, what the hell
make a game.
Alright Rommell let's play.
I made a game. I'm Rommell.
Yeah I figured as much.
I just got slaughtered..whenver you were rolling 2 and 1 one defense i was rolling 3-1...so we would split. Fucking Germans....oh wait.
I have a feeling you are gonna win this one pretty quickly.
Marshall Tucker BAnd is playing 4th street tonight
The commentators only go nuts if you're watching it on a foreign network. The English commentators are usually lost and say little if anything.
Wes, he's fixed the chat option on the game.
You're turn!
Ok, I played my turn, I'm back fulltime... I finished everything and the rain killed softball this weekend. Fuckin' rain.
Philco - maybe you can make a link on the upper right hand side for the risk website. that would be fantastic.
Worked all day and night, had a few drinks at O'sheas and Im still running you pussies.
