Sister ... you're allowed to swear?

Phil on Monday, March 13, 2006 at 3:42 PM

Sister ... you're allowed to kiss?

I contend that is the worst forced relationship in a sports movie EVER. Even more so than that one chick in Hoosiers.

Phil on Monday, March 13, 2006 at 5:13 PM

ahem, quiet day...

douglas on Monday, March 13, 2006 at 5:33 PM

i've been back up for awhile, but i had to go drop off some files with a lender so i was gone, but it seems to be a quiet day, and i'm bored with another hour at work, which means no good for edoug.

Phil on Monday, March 13, 2006 at 6:37 PM

newsvines has an interesting pick 'em game too. basically you get 300 point to buy teams, and you get a point for each win the teams you buy. Duke costs 130, UK costs 32.

Kinda interesting

I filled out an NCAA bracket today, and I have LSU, Alabama, North Carolina, and Villanova as my final four, with LSU and Nova in the final game and Nova winning it all. As you can see, I don't really know how to fill out a bracket.

Phil on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at 9:52 AM

big jay, did you ever check out the Jesus RPG thing I posted?

douglas on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at 9:55 AM

LSU and Nova aren't bad picks, but alabama and UNC probably are. i do like the SEC favoritism however.

Jay on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at 10:01 AM

No, access is blocked from work.

Phil on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at 10:05 AM

alabama made a decent run in the tournament last year, right? If I recall correctly the guy who won the tournament challenge at ESPN was just a big tide fan, and based everything around the "well, if alabama is going to lose, that team is worthy of a national championship" theory.

joe on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at 10:20 AM

douglas on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at 10:43 AM

crazy night, u know how it is, i boxed this chick out and acted as my own inverse wingman, i was unstoppable. she's from tokyo, so now we're starting a LDR. she thinks i'm from england, i used a shitty british accent, but now whenever i go to japan, she'll be so horny to see me and she love me long time.

joe on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at 10:48 AM

wow douglas. so how many LDRs are you juggling?

douglas on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at 10:57 AM

not sure, i need to break them down in an excel spreadsheet, the only way math helps you bang bitches.

joe on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at 10:59 AM

I am living proof that math doesn't help you bang bitches.

Phil on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at 11:01 AM

So I got my wallet and keys back from Republic Bank. Brian told me that it was just shipped to them as "Republic Bank Lost and Found." Everything but the $4 bucks was in there. I repeat, $50 wicks gift certificate has been recovered.

It easily cost more than $4 to fed ex the package. We discussed asking for the envelope or box, but when Mr. Brian Sizemore went "I recognize you from your picture" Jerome and I wanted to get the hell out of the mail room.

So our theory on the whole situation - drunk person grabbed my wallet and keys by mistake or maybe because I stole their bitch one night, took off with a laugh and woke up with it the next day and was worried they were going to go to jail for stealing all my shit. So, they must have figured the only way to return it anonymously would be via the mail...

douglas on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at 11:02 AM

i took b-mac to a group of 3-4 very attractive girls, and he stood there with his hands in his pockets watching me talk to them, and then asked how I knew them.

And these girls would LOVE b-mac. They are a bunch of fourth street materialistic whores. Well, my buddy Beth is a nice enough girl, but she will not be shy about saying she wants to marry someone with money and that's about her most important goal.

douglas on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at 11:50 AM

the thing about bmac is he wants a chick to make just as much money as him. bmac is just as materialistic, he wants a yacht ASAP. hell, he can easily afford to move out but his sense of money is so warped, he wants to pay off all of his student loans before he moves out, even though the interest is tax deductible. half his paycheck every month goes to paying off student loans and he doesn't save much i don't think. plus he won't bone a chick anymore unless she's a keeper, or she has a kid and is his sister's best friend.

Brock on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at 6:15 PM

It looks like a legitimate run. I don't know if he's really trying to become president or just send a message like in Brewster's Millions, but I would lean toward him seriously considering a run. If his webstie continues to get posted everywhere, he may actually get some support.

Maybe I should make a run at it?

Two possible upsets
1. Michigan State over UNC
2. Bradley over Kansas
thoughts?

Brock on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at 10:11 PM

Church,

1. Mich St over UNC - ABSOLUTELY! UNC is talented, but they are young. The Spartans are loaded with veterans that made this run last year. I wouldn't be surprised to see them make a run. Its almost dependent on which UNC team shows up. MICH ST by 5

2. Bradley over Kansas - You show me this matchup 5 weeks ago, I would have jumped all over Bradley, but Kansas has been on fire lately and guess what? The MVC is WAY over-rated. I'm not saying they can't win... well, yes I am... the MVC is a media darling. I'd look for teams like UNC-Wilmington or San Diego St. to make upsets before Bradley or N. Iowa. I'm also bitter, so take that for what its worth. KANSAS by 8

Phil on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 10:26 AM

the real upset picks:

so it seems the hot pick right now is "should i take ORU over Memphis" as I joked about last night. I think this is stupid. EVERYONE has memphis loosing early. They are the only #1 seed not in the ESPN national bracket: http://games.espn.go.com/tcmen/nationalBracket

Assume your goal is to win the national bracket on ESPN ($10,000). You don't win that by picking the first 32 games right, you win it by getting the elite eight right. ORU or Memphis probably won't be in the elite eight in 90% of everyone's bracket. Memphis (or ORU) in all likely hood will loose to Bucknell (kings of the upset), Kansas OR Gonzagaa before they get to the final four. If you REALLY want an upset you need to put Memphis in the final four and knock out UConn or duke. If Duke or UConn wins the national championship, it's not going to help you win $10,000 because at least 80% of the world has picked them to be in the final game.

Of course, this advice does not apply to office pools were generally speaking the one dude who gets the national champ right wins.

douglas on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 11:04 AM

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/5411946

Bigworm on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 11:09 AM

Okay - I signed up and am all about the upsets this year.

Oral Roberts don't fail me now.

Another upset to watch for is San Diego St over IU. They have a poor man's Killingsworth on that team who might be able to negate his advantage to IU. Also, with inconsistent hoosier play this year (effort has been there, just sometimes they get the same results like my CATS do) this could have the makings of an upset.

Another big upset UK over UCONN.

Barry on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 11:26 AM

i'm not sure i'd take that msu over unc. unc is one of the hottest teams right now and yeah they're young and inexperienced, but come on roy williams can keep their heads in the game. it's not a bad pick, just i wouldn't take it. izzo's a hell of a coach and he does have an experienced team. dying to see the paul davis-tyler hansbrough matchup. if you're looking for an upset maybe UW-Milwaukee over Oklahoma. UW returned all starters from last year's cinderella team and i'm biased against the big 12.

douglas on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 11:44 AM

i think msu over unc is a very possible upset. unc is very inexperienced, and keep in mind, until last year, roy williams was best known as a choke artist. it took a team with five starters going to the nba to win the championship, albeit with five starters he didn't recruit either.

Barry on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 11:50 AM

no, roy williams was best known for not winning the championship. he had final four, elite eight, and sweet 16 teams

Barry on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 11:52 AM

also, i guess i must repeat myself as I too think it's possible.
"it's not a bad pick, just i wouldn't take it."

Bigworm on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 12:02 PM

UNC is a good team no doubt, and they really put it on Duke at Cameron, however, that is a rivally game and a lot of that was due to emotions IMO. Never count out Tom Izzo, he has a history of leading his team deep into the tournament. Also, UNC shoots 70.3% from the charity stripe, whereas, MSU shoots 77.1%, which is key to be a good FT team to make it deep. Also, MSU has played against good defenses all year round.

douglas on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 12:03 PM

he was a choke artist, b/c many of those teams were overwhelmingly projected to win the championship and ultimately did nothing, and the times he choked far outweighed the times he went anywhere. Sweet 16 and Elite Eight teams mean nothing unless you're fucking alabama-birmingham or something, but when you're kansas, uk, or north carolina, it's expected.

douglas on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 12:05 PM

tom izzo, like wes said, he a reputation for taking teams far that weren't supposed to go anywhere, last year to the final four anybody? that team wasn't supposed to sniff the elite eight

Barry on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 12:10 PM

i disagree. perhaps i shouldn't be giving props for sweet 16 and elite eight, but repeated final four and going to the championship says something about a coach. what i'm getting at is that he does choke in the big game, but not in the elite eight, which is where they play msu. i've gotta give a midterm, be back later.

Barry on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 12:11 PM

i'm just saying unc is hot now and msu fell off late in the season.

Phil on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 12:14 PM

It's all about WVU and LSU in the final four.

either that, or my all big east elite eight will DOMINATE!

douglas on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 12:15 PM

lsu has a legitimate shot, wvu, not so sure

Brock on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 12:19 PM

Phil, I like the Big East Elite Eight possibility too. That would prove how friggin' ridiculous these teams are compared to the rest of the country.

Never count out Iona though. The Gales have potential.

Brock on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 12:20 PM

Douglas, how could you dis your twin brother, Kevin Pittsnogle.

Bigworm on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 12:22 PM

Hey now, I was thinking of taking Iona in their first round game. Their coach was a college all-american who averaged a double-double in the NBA over something like 15 years. They also have a good backcourt and can knock down the 3. They kind of remind me of Valpo, but better.

douglas on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 12:25 PM

brock, my 'twin' obviously didn't inherent any of the wonderful, good looking genes i received. he just received the retarded, tall lanky ones. he grew up using basketball as his escape and his only way of finding acceptance. I on the other hand was not so desperate. i'd have to be a millionaire like he's gonna be to live life that ugly

Brock on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 12:28 PM

Oh come on, we know you are anxious to get a bunch of freaky-ass tattoos all over your arms and move into a trailer.

just to let some of you hardcore alcoholics out there, phoenix hill is opening up fri. morning for st. patty's day at 6am, so someone has to take the plunge, go out all night on thursday, stop at whitey's for a quick pick me up, and get started again fri. morning. there's apparently a bunch of other bars opening up at 9am

douglas on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 12:29 PM

yes on the tattoos, no on the trailer. unless it's a doublewide....

Bigworm on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 12:32 PM

Brock - no doubt Big East is the best conference in the world, however, I wouldn't doubt the SEC and it's chances this year either.

Barry on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 2:49 PM

back from the midterm. so i think the conclusion is msu over unc - very much possible though we disagree over how likely. LSU and WVU-don't know. i have lsu doing everything from going to the final four to losing in the 1st round. depends on tyrus thomas' health and if darrell mitchell can find his shot again. if by some crazy chance of events garrett temple starts shooting like he did against vandy - watch out dukies. wvu could go down to s. illinois if both teams shoot like they have been. what's the word on Pops Mensa-Bousa (however you spell it).

just a reminder (a late one at that): trivia at wicks tonight...

Phil on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 6:24 PM

so i've been getting a shit load of chase credit card offers. I called 1-888-567-8688 to get my ass removed. it was pretty interesting. The first half of it they ask you questions like "state your name, then spell it." Then suddenly they switch to you entering stuff with the keypad. Quite bizarre.

We'll see how this works out. Fuckin' chase, why can't the person in charge of mailing my ass a credit card once a day waste as much time as joe?

Bigworm on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 11:02 PM

Philco - Bonuses for the amount of volume they mail out.

Brent on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 11:09 PM

Phil, Im pretty sure its LG model# HL-DT-ST DVD +- RW GWA4164B.

joe on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 7:40 AM

the sad thing is i work for them and have an account there and I get just as much mail as you all do.

douglas on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 9:37 AM

slow day huh

Bigworm on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 9:39 AM

So last night I was watching the Suns and the Clippers play and I must say it was a pretty entertaining game to watch. With that being said what really caught my attention was what the tv commentator said, which isn't about either of the above mentioned teams.

It was heading to 1/2 time intermission and this is the conversation piece leading into it:

TV-1: "Enough about the Knicks, they are aweful"
TV-2: "The Knicks are battling out with the Hawks tonight"
TV-1: "Great, talking about a pillow fight"

That is pretty bad when a TV commentator equates your game to a 3rd grade pillow fight. That is what Abby would call Fan-tabulous.

joe on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 9:45 AM

I got this crazy idea where I would try working today

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 10:06 AM

My mention of using the chase credit card applications to wipe my ass probably set off some sort of warning on the internet over there.

so what's the st. pat plans? I'm thinking about going to Brendan's. Hopefully it won't be too crazy go nuts because not too many people know that it is open.

joe on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 10:15 AM

UL plays at 7 UK plays at 9:45 ish? What is Brendan's?

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 10:26 AM

Brendan's is the new o'shea's / flanagan's bar where Meijers used to be. I believe they opened last Saturday.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 10:27 AM

I am guessing Brendan's is the Oshea's extention in st. matthews?

Bigworm on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 10:27 AM

Wow I am good.

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 10:32 AM

I am not too keen on heading down to baxter. Last year it was insane, and that was on a freakin' thursday. I got asked if I wanted to help with the door because they are so afraid of being short people.

It's going to be amatuer drinking night, so I'm hoping that the amatuers don't know that the new place is open yet.

joe on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 10:34 AM

I am game for that place. Also, I know I can walk home from there if neccessary.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 10:36 AM

Or better yet, we all just walk for your place to there.

douglas on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 10:37 AM

that's crazy talk, you're crazy

douglas on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 10:39 AM

okay, a little late, that last post was in response to joe's ridiculous comment about working.

douglas on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 10:40 AM

is brendan o'shea the owner of the new place. brendan o'shea was my baseball coach in high school and i know his family owned or used to own o'sheas. phil, you've gotta know.

joe on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 10:41 AM

he coached at trinity for a while too

joe on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 10:42 AM

That was crazy talk. Talking about drinking and bars is much more important.

douglas on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 10:44 AM

i'm glad your priorities are back in order, joe. i had faith in you. that was funny though, i mean joe working, hahaha

douglas on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 10:45 AM

i will say one thing though, amateur drinkers means a lot of girls that don't normally go out and get drunk, which means they have like two drinks and are ready to fall for the inverse wingman, just something to think about.....

douglas on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 10:50 AM

dodson's sister's birthday is tomorrow and he said he's got two rooms at the hyatt and they're gonna get trashed....something else to consider anyway

joe on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 11:07 AM

From Joanna

https://www.optoutprescreen.com/

Hey, I saw that thing on NattySci about Chase pre-approval offers. If you want to get rid of them without having to deal with a phone call, use this website. you'll just have to print out this thing and mail it in and you will be off their lists forever. Just thought you'd want to know. Chris and I were getting spammed pretty hard with stuff from Chase and citibank and american express. Its slowed way down since I opted out.

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 11:14 AM

the phone call thing was a piece of cake, no human intervention and it took about 5 minutes. Highly recommended. Just watch out when they ask for your social, that's when you start using your keypad.

I'm also going to try this to get even less junk mail:
http://www.dmaconsumers.org/cgi/offmailinglist

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 11:17 AM

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 11:18 AM

I'm in! I was #1,303 in line. Christ this site is going to SLAMMED

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 11:29 AM

someone do me a favor, try to open this URL up in Media Player (file, open Url):
mms://a2047.l2265160200.c22651.g.lm.akamaistream.net
/d/2047/22651/v0001/reflector:60200?
auth=ca.dscxdmccdvcvatcmbcdpdhaydkbrcobv
-begzgc-ba-dljoyxrp-m6kvmgl9n9ntkx&aifp=v0001&

I split it into four lines because otherwise it'd fuck some stuff up on the site. Just start up notepad or word, and paste it into one big line and then use that in media player. I'm just curious to see if the games are as easy to "share" as last year...

You should see a screen saying "Your live streaming game has not yet begun"

TV review:

"The Loop" sucks

Jay on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 11:55 AM

So a coworker of mine (a 26 year old female) is wearing a Rainbow Brite sweatshirt today. When I asked her about it, she said she was desperately trying to cling to childhood. Also, that ESPN tournament page gave a hit that said I was trying to go to a gambling site. Stupid state proxy.

Jay on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 11:55 AM

Which show is that, Joe?

joe on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 11:59 AM

New show on fox about a 23 year old guy just out of college who is an executive for an airline. It is called "the loop" because it is in chicago. It was terrible

Jay on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 12:07 PM

Happy Birthday to Eric Estrada, Flavor Flav, and Chuck Woolery.

Jay on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 12:08 PM

Is that the one with the neighbor kid from "Grounded For Life"? (The same one I'm talking about was also in That 70's Show)

douglas on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 12:16 PM

i only saw the last couple minutes of it, i was watching this new show on hbo about a polygamist with three wives, which rates very high on the unintential comedy scale.

joe on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 12:17 PM

Yep jay you are correct

Bigworm on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 12:27 PM

I GUARANTEE Cincinnati wouldn't be losing by 20 to The Shockers!

Church on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 1:24 PM

Hey Brock, is there any truth to the rumor that UC's president was so pissed about Huggins attending a game, she told the committee to not consider UC?

Pacific better lose or my bracket is busted

joe on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 1:33 PM

I remember barksdale getting hosed trying to steal a base off pitts

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 1:47 PM

joe on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 1:47 PM

It is happening to people here

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 1:50 PM

So, while I wait at #3000 in line...anyone see Cuba last night?

Those fuckers are crazy.

Brock on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 1:50 PM

Church, there are so many conspiracy rumors showing up since this atrocity happened. Here is the most substantial with regard to yours:

Andy Kennedy is a huge fan favorate now, but Zimpers (UC prez) doesn't want anyone left from Huggins' staff, so in order to prevent any chance of him getting even more support, she ordered the new AD Thomas (who was the assistant AD at Virginia before he went to Akron) to contact his old boss Craig Littlepaige (AD Virginia) to NOT put UC in the tournament.

I think this is a joke, because if it were true, this is a huge backfire since now UC gets at 3 home games if they keep winning in the NIT and that'll create even more support for Kennedy among the fans.

This is all untrue and unlikely because Kennedy is going to Ole Miss next year to be a thorn in the side of UK.

douglas on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:11 PM

wait a minute, wichita st. is the SHOCKERS? How did I not know this? How is this not a Natty Sci favorite? Outside of KY, Wichita St. is my new favorite team. Do you think if they win the championship they'll throw up the Shocker in all their pictures? How could you not? Go Shockers!

joe on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:13 PM

how did you not know they were the Wichita State Shockers? I thought it was common knowledge

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:14 PM

I had Wichita State in all of my brackets for that very reason.

If anything I want to see a "Wichita State shocks the sweet sixteen!" headline

adrian on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:18 PM

God damn fucking Oklahoma. Well, there goes my elite 8 team.

FUCK, SHIT, COCK, BALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brock on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:22 PM

Who the hell depends on Oklahoma. They are even worse than UC when it comes to choking in the tournament.

Jay on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:23 PM

I'm glad you all keep posting updates. It lets me know how screwed my bracket is.

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:25 PM

six point game, adrian...

joe on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:26 PM

go pacific!! 5 pt game.

Brock on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:27 PM

I'm more concerned about the BC-Pacific game. Its close. BC looked really good in the ACC tourney.

Brock on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:29 PM

Like the Super Bowl, they might as well just make the NCAA tournament a national holiday. Who the hell is actually doing any work.

The cure for cancer will have to wait.

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:29 PM

BC sucks. I think I have them loosing to Neva in half of my brackets

Bigworm on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:30 PM

Yeah I have BC going pretty far. BC is a good tough team, however, every team you play in the tourney is a good team, especially with the parity this year.

Brock - UC would be down probably still.

Brock on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:32 PM

To Wichita State? A you fucking serious?

Bigworm on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:33 PM

Yes and your record suggests it...UC lost to Seton Hall, Seton Hall losing to Wichita St.

Of course that is all based on your theory that UC is the greatest team in the world how you point out teams UK has lost to that UC beat. ;)

Brock on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:37 PM

Which means that Wichita St is exponentially greater than UK?

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:38 PM

Pacific just can't get ahead, two straight threes just missing...

Brock on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:41 PM

Whats the point of filling out like 9 brackets. I don't even know who to root for.

joe on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:42 PM

you can put it in the book. Milwaukee and The shockers of wichita victorious

Brock on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:46 PM

How about you guard the guy whose dropped 27 on you in the final seconds and not let him shoot the 3. BC coach is dumb.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:46 PM

Hmm...not really....UK beat West Virginia 80-66 (before morris returned) which finished #3 in the Big East regular season. Seton Hall finished #7, although they did beat WVA, they played more common opponents as opposed to the simple head to head game. Therefore, as shitty as my UK team is...we would be in the top 1/4 of your conference..which you currently are not in. We also beat UofL pretty easily which did split with you.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:49 PM

I am never a fan of filling out more than 2 brackets for money. I am in two different pools at Abby's work and right now I am 0-2. Good thing is I only had Seton Hall assPirates and Oklahoma winning 1 game.

Brock on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:49 PM

BC-Pacific in OT!

I'm 2-2 on the Yahoo Natty Sci Tourney!

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:50 PM

i filled out one for real.

then i filled out a four more to try to win the ESPN.com bracket thingy by picking stuff like an Illini vs Memphis final game.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:51 PM

BC is shooting a whopping 16% from 3PT land...he fellas instead of going 3-18 from outside, throw it inside.

Brock on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:52 PM

This is so much fun though. I love college basketball so much. Will you marry me college basketball?

Bigworm on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:53 PM

1-2 for me for the Sci...the game that is gonna make or break me is if South Alabama pulls off the upset against UF!

Brock on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:54 PM

Good call on the BC game, Wes. Both Smith and Dudley are their leading scorers and they are their frontline. Clue: you are bigger and better down low. Throw it inside you dipshits!

joe on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:57 PM

apparently I just heard my boss was yelling at me earlier for not working and watching basketball. However, I never turned away from the game and I ignored him the whole time. Shit happens.

adrian on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2:59 PM

God Damn Fucking Bost College.

There goes my final four team

Church on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 3:00 PM

BC better pull through. I picked them last year and they fucked up.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 3:04 PM

Hmmm...interesting stuff...UW-Milwaukee might play Florida if Florida beats S. Alabama. UT has beat Florida 2x this year already going 2-0 against them. Pearl's old team same style against Billy D and the gators.

I LOVE THE MADNESS BABY.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 3:05 PM

Okay I had BC getting eliminated by UF in the sweet 16, well at E&Y I do. Not sure on the Natty

Bigworm on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 3:09 PM

Man what was I thinking on my Natty bracket....I have BC in the final 4 on that one, getting beat by OSU.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 4:08 PM

I just realized that E&Y's might just be the best tournament. If you pick the upsets, you get the difference in the seed rankings as bonus points.

Damn you Nevada!!!

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 4:12 PM

ROLL TIDE

Bigworm on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 4:13 PM

Damn Philco - you and I have been on the same brain wavelength today...scary really.

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 4:13 PM

on the marquette game the announcer just referred to the wichita state game as a big upset...

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 4:18 PM

john felix (sp?) for alabama is ON FIRE. Novak is supposed to be 5 for 6 from 3 pt range! FUCK YOU NOVAK!

Brock on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 4:23 PM

Isn't the Fat Chicks entry Jerome?

Bigworm on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 4:24 PM

What is sad is in my $5 pull I accidentally changed it to Iona over LSU because I thought it was Iowa...I need to look at these things more carefully. Of course if Iona wins, that is 10 points in my favor because of bonus points.

douglas on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 4:26 PM

go montana! that's my second upset i'll have right already, i already picked uw-milwaukee over bc.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 4:27 PM

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 4:31 PM

Church, Winthrop is making you look like a genius right now.

Brock on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 4:33 PM

But seriously, did anyone have Tennessee making it out of the Sweet 16 anyway?

Bigworm on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 4:34 PM

Nope. I have them making to the 16 but that is it.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 4:35 PM

All you had to do was listen to ESPN for that one. They called Winthrop over UT, and this was their reasoning..Winthrop was really like a 13 or 12 seed and UT was more like a 3 seed.

I do wish I was watching the UT-Wintrop game...looks to be pretty good.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 4:50 PM

Damn you South Alabama!

Bigworm on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 4:50 PM

ROLL SOUTH TIDE

does that even work?

Barry on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 4:54 PM

i've got nevada winning but losing to BC and I have UT losing in the second round

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 4:57 PM

montana just started the half by dribbling up the court, and then off their foot. if anything, it doesn't look like montana is a second half team.

Brock on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 4:59 PM

After 3 games, a 5-way tie for first.

Barry, me, Jerome, Church, and Joe.

Brock on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 5:02 PM

Marquette is clawing their way back. I kinda wouldn't mind going perfect, so I might cheer for UT

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 5:06 PM

5pt game, Marquette is back in this.

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 5:06 PM

this felix guy is unconcious.

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 5:07 PM

and nevada has cut it to 3 with UT by 2...

Barry on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 5:13 PM

i think florida's gonna survive the fighting pelphrey's

douglas on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 5:25 PM

go tennessee! damn that was a pretty shot

Brock on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 5:28 PM

Church's bracket is screwed. Well, not really, but that would've hurt everyone else more.

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 5:30 PM

man, that was a nice looking pass from that winthrop guy. it was like flutie to fagen, well, without the catch.

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 5:38 PM

looks like Nevada is done.

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 9:37 PM

When George Washington sent it to overtime they were laughing about it. Even the dude (elliot) who if they made a free throw would have iced the game was laughing it up and bouncing around.

I like their swagger

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 9:52 PM

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 10:06 PM

man, mexico is owning the US. Another 8 pitch inning.

Let's go CUBA!

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 10:11 PM

Uh, so the southern vs duke game just started. It's like watching a natty sci scrimage. Southern is up 2-0, but it's a cluster fuck. I think they'll get beat by 40

adrian on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 11:06 PM

Looks like the "power-house" big east is going to be 0 for 3.

Phil on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 11:38 PM

UK all the way baby!

Brock on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 11:56 PM

The Big East will rise again. I wouldn't be surprised to see 3 Big East teams in the final four.

adrian on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 7:52 AM

Brock, there will be only three big east teams making it to the next round. Write that down!

adrian on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 7:54 AM

There will only be one Big East team in the Final four. Write that down!

joe on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 8:20 AM

Adrian's gay. Write that down!

Church on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 8:30 AM

Fuck Texas A&M
Fuck Washington
Fuck Tennessee
Fuck Montana

Those two guards from Bama were unreal yesterday

joe on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 8:52 AM

this is amazing I am winning another natty sci fantasy event.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 9:03 AM

Too bad you picked Marquette in the Elite 8. Dumbass.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 9:14 AM

Brock - now do you think UC should have been in the tourney? I think with Cuse, Seton Hall assPirates, and Marquette all losing that shows the parity in college basketball today. That is directly related to decreasing the # of scholarship players from 15 to 13 several years ago.

joe on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 9:14 AM

I thought too highly of their kick returner

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 9:14 AM

And fuck you Iona.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 9:17 AM

I am also adding South Alabam to the Fuck You list...there goes my sweet 16 team.

douglas on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 9:31 AM

why exactly is iona getting a fuck you?

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 9:43 AM

Because I was looking at different scenerios on my $5 bracket and thought I read IOWA instead of IONA, even though Iowa is 2 teams down and left them beating LSU.

adrian on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:03 AM

I am just giving you faggot ass big east boys shit right now. They are still the best conference..hands down

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:04 AM

Wes, I think UC would have still faired much better than all of those teams. Here's the reason.

UC was starting 4 seniors. Even with a lack of a bench, the level of consistency UC has had all year is unmatched. The only teams in the conference that UC lost to that were below them in the standings were Louisville and Syracuse. In both those cases, they won a second game. On the other hand, teams like Seton Hall, Syracuse, and Marquette all lost to bottom feeders in the league. Syracuse got slaughtered by DePaul, Seton Hall lost to St. Johns, DePaul, and Rutgers, and Marquette even lost to Rutgers. The point being, when it comes down to crunch time, a more experienced group will hang with it and prevent a collapse. If anything, this proves Cincy deserved a spot over those teams b/c they maintained consistency even when they lost a senior starter and had only 7 scholarship players all season. Their snubbing is just inexcusable.

Stop hating on Iona. Just b/c you can't read doesn't warrant Iona all of a sudden becoming a powerhouse.

joe on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:06 AM

the three losses were the 6, 7 and 9 teams. I'll listen to you after the 1,2,3,4 and 5 play.

adrian on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:06 AM

Hell, even gay ass louisville would have played better than S. Hall.

adrian on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:07 AM

Joe, trust me when only three big east teams will make it to round two. Nova, Uconn, and G-town

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:08 AM

I love how Adrian talks shit with disclaimers. Don't be surprised when its

Big East 10-3
SEC 4-4

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:10 AM

Should I bring up the good-ole-boy selection process that always awards the SEC and Big 10 with easy matchups?

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:11 AM

I think the thing that really blows is the fact that college football has influence over college basketball. College football is inferior to college basketball in ever aspect. Remove the layers of corruption and institute a playoff system or just go fuck yourself.

adrian on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:12 AM

brock i am just messing with you

Phil on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:16 AM

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6448213...52290/?GT1=7935

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:18 AM

yeah UK gets UAB (arch nemesis when it comes to tourney time due to c-usa team and are 2-0 against UK) so if we beat them we get UCONN.

Real fucking easy.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:20 AM

Brock - quit hating on the SEC just cause Cinci doesn't get to represent the Big East in THE BIG DANCE. Stick to THE LITTLE DANCE until your team proves it can play with the big boy. The last time I checked, the SEC doesn't own the selection committee.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:21 AM

Unfortunately, UK isn't the cream of the SEC crop this year. Sorry. Look at Tennessee and Florida for your prime examples.

douglas on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:22 AM

i want to hear more about this good ole-boy conspiracy that gives the SEC and Big 10 easy seeds....Cuz I was just thinking how easy UK got it by having to go against UConn in the 2nd round IF they win.

douglas on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:22 AM

guess i'm a little late.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:23 AM

Wes - I wouldn't be harassing the Little Dance when UK could have just as easily have been there. You can thank shitty teams like Auburn and Ole Miss for the Wildcats bid.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:24 AM

Where are all these Louisville fans at? Man up!

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:28 AM

Holy shit, I think all the UC fans are going to explode if we don't know who the coach next year is. Everyone is fearing that Mike Davis or Louis Orr will be here to shit the Bearcats down the tubes the next few years.

douglas on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:29 AM

no, there's absolutely no reason for UK to be at the little dance, their SOS was good, especially their out of conference schedule which was pretty loaded, they deserve to be there. Pretty much any UK team that wins 20 games is automatically in

joe on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:30 AM

So UK fans talk about Conference USA being weak. They get UAB and they cry about it being a tough game.

adrian on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:36 AM

So how is the

Not
Important
Tournament

going?

joe on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:37 AM

Being a traditional UL fan, wait till football season.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:40 AM

Side by side comparison my man:

UK
SOS- 15th
NonConf SOS- 34
RPI- 41st
vs Top 50- 3-8
vs Top 100- 9-12
Last 10- 6-4 (2 wins over Ole Miss and 1 over Georgia, loss to Vandy)

UC
SOS- 5th
NonConf SOS- 22
RPI-40th
vs Top 50- 4-8
vs Top 100- 11-11 (1 win over S. Florida and Providence, losses to Villanova, Pitt, WVa)

If UK was a "LOCK"- explain to me how UC wasn't anything but?
Last 10- 5-5

joe on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:40 AM

When is the last time you went to the final four? When is the last time you had a winning football season? When is the last time you went to a bowl game? And to beat you to the punch we have 2 national titles and the last time we won was '86. you all have 7? and won in '98.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:41 AM

Sorry, the wins and losses I mentioned for UC should be listed next to the Last 10 games.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:42 AM

Joe, I like your enthusiasm, but lets compare apples to apples... fuck college football until after April.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:50 AM

UC finished 8th in its conference and was bounced early in the conference tournament by the #9 team. Brock UC got screwed no doubt, however, this was the 1st year that any conference received an 8th team, which is 1/2 of your conference. If your team played a little defense on McNamara or denied him the ball on that 3 PT shot, you woudl have been out and Cuse out.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:51 AM

Not that I thin c-usa is week or strong, just look at UK's tourney history against c-usa teams.

eliminated by UAB and Dwayne Wade as a #1 seed

joe on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:54 AM

yes, I am aware of that, but then why do UK fans argue that Conference USA is weak? Are they just ignorant UK fans that I work with?

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:55 AM

But that's okay cause UK is gonna roll UAB then beat your fucking Huskies too.

Brock quit venting just because UK got in. UK's winning percentage was better than UC or did you forget to add that one. Any team that doesn't win 20 games all year and doesn't win atleast 1 tourney game doesn't deserve to get in.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:57 AM

According to the committee, conference affiliation was not considered, so it wasn't Syracuse vs. UC for a spot.
So what if the Big East got 8 in, the Big 10 got 6, thats 55% of their conference. I recall the SEC, the Big 12, and the Big 10 have gotten 7 in before... that's DEFINITELY over half. That argument doesn't hold.

As far as McNamarra goes... even the #1 team in the country couldn't stop that little peckerhead from firing off lucky shots, nor could G'Town. I am upset they let him take it instead of denying him, but 9 out of 10 times, a running heave like that hits the back of the rim.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:59 AM

I'm going to keep venting b/c its a fact! UK only had a better record b/c they played Ole Miss and Alabama in the SEC tournament. The winning percentage argument is null. SOS voids that one before it leaves your lips.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:01 AM

Hey I think UC got screwed, no doubt, but you are gonna have to bring it every night in conference aparently.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:03 AM

HEY DON'T BLAME UK, BLAME CINCI FOR NOT TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS. TYPICAL AMERICAN BULLSHIT, WHEN SOMETHING GOES IN YOUR FAVOR YOU TAKE CREDIT AND WHEN IT DOESN'T YOU POINT THE FINGER. BROCK CINCI ISN'T EVEN THE BEST TEAM IN THE NIT, SO IF YOU GUYS WIN THAT YOU HAVE A REASON TO BITCH.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:04 AM

Bullshit Brock, UK took care of business to get in, had you guys beat Cuse you would have been 20-11, which is much more attractive than 19-12 with early round exit of conference tourney.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:10 AM

I'm not taking it out on UK... you are the one who brought up the UK argument. I am simply drawing a comparison between the teams.

There are two places to point the finger at UC, and Syracuse isn't the one: Villanova (we stop them from making a layup, and we are a lock) and Seton Hall on the road (they played flat that day, and would have finished Seton Hall off right then and there.

Also, who is this team that is better than UC in the NIT?

Thank you NIT committee for a 2nd round matchup with Charlotte (nice favor for a #1 seed).

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:12 AM

The only ranked team (at the time of the game) UC played during the OOC shedule was Memphis (#9) and you lost.

UK played: Iowa (#17) lost, West Va (#13) won, Indiana (#16) lost, UofL (#4) won

UK split against ranked opponents OOC, UC is 0-1

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:15 AM

Of course you have to bring it every night in conference, that was my point in the first post I made. UC beat all the lower teams (they took care of business) and sprinkled some quality conference wins in there too.

I hate to make the UK comparison again, but you'll appreciate it more as a fan. They lost to Vandy twice, who was below them. I'm not trying to belittle UK (ok maybe a little), but its a convenient argument tool here since you are more familiar with them. All of these comparisons are even more amplified for most of the other 9-13 seed teams in the tournament.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:17 AM

Yes UK lost to Vandy 2x this year, however, Vandy didn't take care of business, like UC didn't. Hence the reason why you guys aren't dancing. Don't hate me for that, that is just the facts.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:18 AM

And why is it the facts? Because the selection com. said so, that is why.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:19 AM

Both Vanderbilt (on a 10-game winning streak) and LSU were ranked at the time we played them also. The difference is, UK played those 4 hard games OOC, but then played Bumfuck SW St. for the rest of them. The OOC SOS shows this. UC played Murray St., Ohio, Tenn Tech, Miami. Although those teams "suck," they are still top tier in the mid-major conferences, which meets the committees criteria of "go out and play someone."

adrian on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:20 AM

Hey, I wish Cincy the best of luck in the NIT.

adrian on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:20 AM

Brock , Wes..shut the fuck up. It is like an Idiot is yelling at a Moron...Nothing gets solved

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:21 AM

I don't know what is fact or fiction with the committee this year. They spout out requirements, but when you look at those requirements, they don't add up. Hence Littlepaige getting belittled by all these analysts. AIR FORCE!

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:22 AM

Adrian, its fun! Besides, I just burned most of the morning off with this, and now Wes and I will be watching games here in about 45 minutes.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:23 AM

An interesting tidbit:

The Green Baron has spent all morning trying to find proxy servers in Vietnam and Zimbabwe so he can watch the Ohio St game, which is blacked out here.

You're from Indiana Baron, who cares about the Buckeyes. Bucknell will be on.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:24 AM

Brock - UK wasn't a "lock" until they beat Ole Miss for that 20th win, but in my eyes it wasn't until after they beat Bama for their 21st win.

And for the record, Bama beat Marquette which finished the Big East #6

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:30 AM

OOC tourney teams UC and UK played:

UC: Murray St., Memphis, LSU
UK: Iowa, WVA, UNC, IU, Iona, Kansas

but for some silly reason our OOC SOS is lower. I guess when you do favors and play High Point (where Tubby played col. ball at) you do get penalized.

Phil on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:31 AM

Air Force played Illinois pretty close last night

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:33 AM

Phil, I don't think you watched the same game I did. Illinois toyed with them the whole game, much like GW did UNC-W. No need to go out and blow a giant load on the first night baby.

Green Baron on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:36 AM

I'm surfing by the beach in warm, sunny California right now.
And watching the Ohio State Game

douglas on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:42 AM

bottom line, UK is an institution, its fans travel everywhere, and the NCAA knows that, if UK is borderline compared to someone else with similar wins, etc., then 9 times out of 10 UK will get the nod. it's a business after all. plus, UK did what it had to do at the end of the season to make it. a win over tennessee, a close game against LSU and two wins in the tournament is what they needed, and they came through

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:44 AM

So now to a really important discussion.

Bucknell or Arkansas?
Arizona or Wisconsin?

I hate 8-9 games. They can really blow your bracket if they end up knocking off a #1. What's the rate on that? Every other year I think.

douglas on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:47 AM

ark over bucknell, wisc. over ariz.

Marc on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:50 AM

God, I can't wait until Basketball season is over so that I get my nattysci.com back.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:52 AM

Marc, grow some balls and be a man.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:54 AM

You were born and raised in KY, and you went to school with Wally Szczerbiak, how can you not like college basketball. That has to be a sin or something.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:56 AM

To make Marc feel better,

Did anyone get up early and eat green eggs and biscuits with gravy? I am hungerin' for some of that now. I was too tired from drinking last night.

joe on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:56 AM

what are we doing tonight? I plan on being drunk at a bar for the UL game at 7 and I want a place to sit.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:59 AM

Brendan's does sound good tonight. Shouldn't be no where near the type of crowds you see on baxter.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 11:59 AM

However, I will probably stay at home and watch the game on my big screen.

joe on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 12:00 PM

he was coming in town saturday to bask in the glory of coming back to Louisville, the birthplace of natty sci.

Marc on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 12:01 PM

I spend all my time while you guys are out talking about basketball and football, to hit on your girlfriends, wives, sisters, baby's mamas, ...cousins. (anything with a pulse and a vagina...and i'm a little flexible on one of those)

I never minded playing ball and having fun doing that. Just never got into watching someone else play. Closest I deal was watching wrestling. but I always enjoyed the backstage arguements and brawls more (wrestling in like the male soap opera).
I can get into a game if i'm there at the game. loved going to Red Birds, and later RiverBats. Also saw many pro games growing up and enjoyed them. just can't watch sports on tv. If you see me watching a game at a bar, its either because sometime cool just happened (and someone told me or a I heard a crowd cheer) and i'll looking for the replay... or I'm bored out of my freaking' skull and jus like looking at the moving pictures.

Green Baron on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 12:01 PM

Marc went to Miami? I thought he sounded familiar.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 12:02 PM

I apologize for stealing any thunder, I assumed all the phone calls made last night would have spread the word by now. Didn't know it was a secret.

ASS!

Phil on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 12:04 PM

so let's play Green Baron -> Marcus Six Degrees!

douglas on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 12:05 PM

i would like to go to baxter at some point tonight

Jay on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 12:07 PM

I did not know that Brock. And my plan for this evening is to talk in a fake Irish accent to all the drunk girls and say "Kiss me, I'm Irish." And for the record, these chicks I work with said my accent could indeed fool drunk people.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 12:09 PM

If UofL can manage to squeak past Delaware St., then they get a matchup against Clemson. Miss Universe went to Clemson, so you all could fight about that.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 12:11 PM

Shhhh... Jay.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 12:13 PM

This year is the 69th Annual NIT. Makes sense, full of teams that got screwed.

douglas on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 12:13 PM

the chick i sit next to at work is gonna be at baxter with like ten girls....

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 12:18 PM

I wonder what Douglas' vote is for the evening.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 12:18 PM

Jay - If it is anything like your accents you went through for your theater class, that won't fool anyone. The best shot you got is "kiss me I'm drunk."

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 12:19 PM

Hmmmmm...basically what you are telling me is they are going to be surrounded by drunk dudes in like 3 minutes.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 12:20 PM

Okay i don't know if those accents were for theater but I remember you using some accents before, and I couldn't tell the difference in that and your normal voice or how they differ from each other.

adrian on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 12:20 PM

ten girls + 1 adrian = lots of hand jobs

Jay on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 12:20 PM

Hey wes, I guess I'm just lucky you won't be out tonight to hate on me. And I've found Natty Sci Corp.'s mission statement.

http://money.cnn.com/2006/03/16/new...dex.htm?cnn=yes

Green Baron on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 12:21 PM

6 degrees, I can do it in 2
I kissed Olivia Paris....
Olivia Paris slept with the rest of Miami, likely Marc.
Dude, that chick puts me within 3 degrees of the entire world.

Phil on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 12:21 PM

so on the MMOD stuff they are broadcasting the audio before the game. Highlights so far were Bill Raferty talking about two women in the stands doing something, but he referred to them as "not being spring chickens." Bill Raferty and Vern just lost his pen and Bill Raferty is making fun of the hotels he stays at. This is QUALITY entertainment. Now they are trying to remind themselves how to identify the Northwestern State players. Bill Raferty just said "I got fat daddy...NO QUESTION"

Green Baron on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 12:22 PM

by the way, I saw her in Cincinnati....so if anyone wants the hookup...
I imagine its like throwing a hot dog down a hallway by this point though.

douglas on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 12:25 PM

what i'm saying is i got the in with the girl i work with, and she knows i'm with verile men looking to spread their seed, thus we become the drunk dudes surrounding them

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 12:26 PM

Jay, when he mentions "spreading their seed," he doesn't mean hosing the back of your bathroom door down.

Jay on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 12:31 PM

The bathroom, Brock? My seed has been spread over every sqare inch of my apartment.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 12:34 PM

Much like Adrian's seed has been spread all over Phil's place.

You knew that was comin, much like Adrian on a couch thinkin about Big Red.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 1:08 PM

I find it slightly hypocritical for Xavier players to talk about class with regards to trash talk.

http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs....T0102/603170375

Xavier players talk more trash than any team I've ever seen.

Phil on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 1:09 PM

hey OSU and Iowa - STOP SUCKING

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 1:14 PM

The Big 10 shining though!

Phil on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 1:24 PM

Snakes on a Plane trailer: http://youtube.com/watch?v=8aAkHGCuQT4

It warrants mentioning that Sam L Jackson is so bad ass he shoots a snake IN THE FACE.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 1:43 PM

Where did this whole Snakes on a Plane thing come from? The Baron insists it used to be a kids game or something.

Phil on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 1:50 PM

once the movie it made it onto IMDB last year people have been overly excited about it. combine the title with articles like this: http://hucksblog.blogspot.com/2005/...king-plane.html

and the one when Sam L Jackson when asked why he did the movie he responded "It's SNAKES ON A MOTHER FUCKIN' PLANE! I didn't even read the script."

and I'm pretty sure it isn't a kids game

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 1:55 PM

The damn thing has a Wikipedia entry:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snakes_on_a_plane

Phil on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:03 PM

finally, OSU and Iowa pulling away

joe on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:14 PM

so i'm at work today. This guy married kid or tow roughly mid 30's came up to me and said he wanted to show me something he found on the internet. He explains the back story before hand. Him and his brother were looking to eat at o'sheas so he did a google search of "O'sheas Louisville". He pulled up the screen he found and it was a drunken story of me at O'sheas on nattysci.com.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:17 PM

Jay, for the record, when have I ever hated on you in the presence of ladies at the bars. If I recall, I have the greatest introduction of all time.

This is Jay (arm on the table with a loud "thud"). I don't know what this means, but that's what I hear!

That was Legen.....dary!

Jay on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:17 PM

Joe, that is about the most awsome thing EVER.

Jay on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:19 PM

You have never hated on me in front of ladies, except for that time at flanagan's. "Hey, it's my twin brother adrian!" "What, you said you're name was Brent!"

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:21 PM

How is that hating on you? That was a pretty good fuck up, but come on, why did adrian use a fake name?

And for the record, you weren't gonna get laid because if so, why did it matter if Adrian's name was fake? That would have just helped you out by being a "good guy" and not an asshole like, Brent or Adrian whatever his name is.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:22 PM

The Bucknell Bison's symbol on the Yahoo page is basically an orange version of the Buffalo Bills symbol.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:27 PM

Bucknell has played reallyl well so far, let's see if they can keep it up.

Jay on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:32 PM

Wes, I'm just joking around, man. I can't seem to get laid no matter what I do, so I thought I would take it out on you.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:32 PM

And this is why I love giving love to the little teams for in the NCAA Tourney.

Arkansas should destroy Bucknell, but they are down by 2 with 2:25 to go because they have only hit 11-20 from the charity stripe (55%) vs. Bucknell's 10-11 (92%). The hogs are shooting 20% from 3-land (2-10) vs. Bucknell's 55% (11-20). The great 3 point shot equalizes height/strength.

Jay on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:34 PM

And the line "This is my buddy, Big Jay, (thud), I don't know what that means, that's just what I've heard." Is one of the greatest lines in the history of mankind.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:34 PM

Bucknell by 2 55-53 with 1:29 to go.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:36 PM

It's hog crazy in there all tied at 55!

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:37 PM

Bucknell playing poised takes the lead again by 2 on a lay-up.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:39 PM

Should've taken it inside Fergurson...go for the old fashioned 3.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:40 PM

Northwestern St. are you kidding me??!

Who picked that?

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:42 PM

Take that IOWA.

Does IU still want Alford after he just got beat!

Church on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:42 PM

Steve Alford is the worst tournament coach in history

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:42 PM

I did brock on my yahoo natty sci one baby!

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:44 PM

I guess you thought Northwestern St was playing IONA

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:44 PM

I guess that makes up for my South Alabama airball.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:45 PM

No that was in my E&Y bracket for money, so that is only why i was mad. In this one, I picked games how i wanted them to occur. Hence, South Alabama over Florida.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:47 PM

And Bucknell hangs on for the win. The hogs came charging back on some pressure D, but when the game was tied or when they needed a bucket they went for a 3 PTer despite their 2-10 shooting prior.

Sometimes you have to play the odds.

adrian on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:49 PM

North western state had the SHOT of all shots...fucking awesome even though they screwed my bracket up by beating iowa.

douglas on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:49 PM

who else wants alford to go to IU? Anybody? I sure as hell do.

douglas on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:50 PM

joe still has a comfortable lead in our league

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:52 PM

Who cares..I should automatically win by picking Northwestern St. over Iowa.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:58 PM

Joe is not in good shape. He lost an Elite 8 team, so his max possible points are lower than the top 10 people. Right now Phil is in control.

I liked the ESPN brackets better b/c it would list that info right on the standings instead of having to click on each one. Stupid Yahoo!

When is Google gonna do brackets... they'd make it awesome some how.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:58 PM

Now if I can get Northern Iowa to take out G-town I am a freakin' genius.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:59 PM

True dat.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:00 PM

Come on Georgetown! Now this would really hurt. Where's that Princeton inspiration!

joe on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:04 PM

brock just accept the fact I am better then you.

douglas on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:04 PM

i lost a couple games, but i still have all my elite eight teams, i had iowa losing 2nd round anyway so i'm not hurt. in my office pool i'm still doing real well, and really that's the one that counts cuz there's several hundred dollars on that one.

douglas on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:05 PM

p.s., just received word from co-worker that she only knew of one friend with boyfriend, and they are going to brendan's first, but they are going early and then going to baxter.

douglas on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:06 PM

she said most of her friends were pretty cute, of course in girl talk that doesn't always mean much, but i asked her not to bullshit and she said she wasn't, so i should get props for trying to hook some of you fuckers up

douglas on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:07 PM

congratulations to brock and wes, while you've been arguing incessantly about the ncaa, you two have managed to set new personal records for posts in one day.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:10 PM

And now the mighty SEC is 4-1, thanks for the jinx Adrian.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:11 PM

I am thinking this will be the "crazy go nuts comments days" big winner.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:14 PM

Wes, we need to argue about something else to get an unbeatable record. How about how big a bitch Bruce Pearl is?

joe on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:17 PM

Both of Pearl's programs won.

joe on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:17 PM

might be a bitch but he is winning in the NCAA

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:18 PM

Did I mention I hate the Missouri Valley conference!

joe on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:19 PM

Interesting that UL and UC used to be in it

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:19 PM

Bruce Pearl is a bitch. When he came to the SEC he said, it doesn't matter if we can't beat UK. Tubby's response was take a number buddy. My wildcats are inconsistent this year, and for some reason in the SEC they still circle that UK game.

But what I say to Bruce Pearl..is fuck you, let's see how you do when you are being hunted instead of the hunter.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:20 PM

Any coach who would be Nancy Zimpher's lapdog drops a peg in my book.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:20 PM

Pearl almost got blackballed years ago with that whole Iowa/Illinois recruiting scandal shit he pulled years ago. He is lucky he didn't get blackballed for life.

The good thing is, he is a good coach that brings tons of energy to the game. What I admire is how his teams bring it every single night.

joe on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:21 PM

Look at the banners in Rupp. Of course you want to beat them.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:21 PM

Nancy Zimpher is a first rate bitch.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:22 PM

I know that is the reason Joe. I have been saying it for years.

UK: Everyone tries to emulate, but you cannot duplicate.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:22 PM

Ok, so maybe Wes and I agree about that. How about how much money Abby had at the end of that Life game.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:23 PM

UK: Everyone tries to emulate, but you cannot duplicate, except for UCLA

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:27 PM

Roy Hibbert, you giant goofball, you're my boy... own these little guys... no more upsets!

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:30 PM

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:35 PM

UCLA can blow me. West-coast basketball doesn't exist.

douglas on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:48 PM

ucla doesn't count b/c they haven't had a good consistent run since the 70's

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:53 PM

UCLA had 2 good decades I will give them that. Those teams were the best that money could buy, obviously.

UK is the all-time win leader, so we have had much more consistent basketball.

joe on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:54 PM

they still won those championships.

joe on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:55 PM

they got one in the 90's as well

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:55 PM

Let's go Oral Roberts!

joe on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:56 PM

UK never won in the 80's where is the consistency?

joe on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 3:59 PM

when are we going out tonight?

Jay on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 4:02 PM

I'll be in town around 5:30 or so, so I need about an hour to take care of a few things (i.e., rub one off). After about 6:30 or 7 i'll be good to go.

Phil on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 4:06 PM

i think i'm heading out right now. give me a call once you guys get together. i'll be at brendan's.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 4:07 PM

Bullshit Joe! While UK didn't win a National Championship in the 80's, UK has been in the top 10 winningest programs in the country each decade since the 30's.

http://www.sportsstats.com/AP/alldecade.html

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 4:08 PM

UK is the only team in the country to do that. Not even the great UCLA managed that one.

douglas on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 4:08 PM

who never won in the 80's? rex chapman anybody? they had some great teams in the 80's, they were just on probation for the end of it so they weren't in the tournament

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 4:09 PM

I'll be in The Ville tomorrow sometime, so don't get too hammered and puss out tomorrow.

douglas on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 4:09 PM

i'm leaving work now, someone call me later and let me know what the fuck is going on, i'll have my gameface on

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 4:10 PM

Yep and I remember a guy by the name of Shawn Kemp..who would have brought quite a few championships to Lexington.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 4:10 PM

Damn your Oral Roberts.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 4:12 PM

joe on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 4:13 PM

where would you rank UL in the 80's? 2 titles, i believe 4 final fours. They still aren't one of the 10 winningest programs of the 80's.

Phil on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 4:14 PM

hey joe, what's your plan? I just realized I could probably pick you up at work and we could head right on up to the bars.

give me a call at 802-5292

joe on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 4:15 PM

I am leaving right now anyways. I got a ride home.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 4:22 PM

UofL had some good teams in the 80's no doubt. See this brings an interesting question, what do you measure success by, the tournaments or the entire season.

Brock on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 4:22 PM

Too bad everyone is leaving, we are only 13 posts away from 200. Well, 12.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 4:30 PM

Brock, we can do it!

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 4:31 PM

Oral Roberts you pisses of shit. You are only down by 12. Get it together.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 4:33 PM

LSU has a pretty good chance it appears to get to take it to Duke.

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 4:33 PM

Bigworm on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 4:34 PM

Thanks alot Michigan St. That's what I get for thinking a Big 10 team is good. The Big 10 blows, and I should have known that, it was a joke that they had the highest RPI all season.

Big East on Friday: 7-0

I think they recovered from the slack-ass Thursday.

Bigworm on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 11:30 AM

Wow, Rondo and UK handled UAB's press rather easily I think. UK shoots somethign like 30% from the floor, 20% from 3PT land and still manages to win. UCONN better hope that UK isn't shooting well.

Bigworm on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 11:37 AM

Big east put the smack down yesterday. Especially Uconn, Nova and G-town.

Bring on those pussy ass Huskies.!

douglas on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 12:49 PM

yeah, the mighty UConn sure laid the smack down on mighty albany, taking it down to the last couple minutes of the game to seal it vs. a 16 seed, not to mention villanova not exactly cake walking to the next round

Brock on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 1:24 PM

Louisville put the smack down on Delaware St!

At least the Big East has that going for us.

Church on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 1:44 PM

Damn you Michigan STate and Kansas. While I am all for congratulating GMU and Bradley for winning games for the mid majors, maybe next time they could do it against teams that are not in my fuckin elite eight. I can safely say I am out of the brackets now

Somewhat related, the NIT game was awesome last night. I finally got to see a U of L game where I wasn't having to maneuver around rafter hanging banners to see.

Let's go IU today, Morrison is trying to not only beat Redick in scoring average but also in being a prick

Brock on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 2:26 PM

Church, I had the same experience at the UC game last night. We got seats all the way down in the 5th row, practically on the floor. Funny thing was, the place was reasonably full. I think people are just waiting to buy tickets to these games at the gate.

Joe, did you have Manhattan knocking off Maryland in your NIT pool. UC has got the most brutal bracket of all. Minnesota, Florida State, and South Carolina are all thats left. At least we get all those teams at home.

Church on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 2:51 PM

Brock, the good thing about the NIT game last night at U of L, and, probably so, at UC is that fans who don't have season tickets were able to not only get tickets, but get good tickets. The damned thing is I will be in Nashville when the next game is played

GO Jaspers. Maryland proved why they were not place in the NCAA

Phil on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 3:13 PM

wtf is this Knock Off movied on Showtime? Is it supposed to be a satire?

adrian on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 3:25 PM

Church, I have three elite teams out of it already..Mich St., KU, and Oklahoma

Church on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 3:28 PM

Adrian, with the way it is going, I will be happy just to have my final four picks in the sweet 16

Wichita State University-Official Team of NattySci.com. Go Shockers!

Phil on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 6:15 PM

CBS is frooze up for me with Jay Bilas looking even more retarded than normal. While funny, I'd rather be watching one of the games...

Brock on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 6:20 PM

Thank you Shockers for ending the gay-love affair between Bruce Pearl and ESPN!

Brock on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 6:22 PM

Church, I'm in the same boat, I'll be able to watch their game on Tuesday against Minnesota, but I'll be out of town if they play Fla St or SoCarolina on the weekend. That would be the last possible home game, which sucks.... but I'll be in Disney World!

It's the same way when I look at pictures of Vietnam or the Holocaust, except worse, because while Kristin has never committed war crimes, she makes girls with esteem issues cry. In fact, I'm pretty sure that when Satan masturbates, he thinks about Kristin Cavallari."

Phil, that just downright sanctimonious.

Jerkin' it on a pornstar's birthday is a particularly unique fetish that deserves some praise.

The only one higher is Cheryl, and hers basically looks like mine except I have Villanova over Texas and she has Texas over Villanova. Come on 'Nova!

Interestingly, my dad picked Witchita State in the Elite 8, which is a distinct possibility. I asked him if it was b/c they were the Shockers, and his response was, "Why would the shockers matter? I'm just getting crazy in my old age."

We were discussing the ethics of the female dunk at work today. She flat beat a chick on a fastbreak and dunked on her in one and the other was beating her baseline. I give her credit for those. Had it been a wide open dunk with no one around at the end of a 48 point thrashing, is this ethical? Terrible sportsmanship, but supposedly good for the sport.

Jay on Monday, March 20, 2006 at 12:12 PM

Refering to marc's post, Jane March is probably best known as the chick who does Bruce Willis in the pool in the movie "The Color of Night." While this movie is no doubt hot, her hottest role was in "The Lover", where she plays a Chinese Businessman's sex toy in turn of the century Hong Kong.

http://cbs.sportsline.com/collegeba...l/story/9323426

Bigworm on Monday, March 20, 2006 at 1:54 PM

Philco - that would be the equivalent of a guy doing a 360 or a windmill dunk in a game. If you are at home, I say go for it to get the crowd hyped up, the exlamation point on the win so to speak. If you are away, you bring it back out and run out the clock.

adrian on Monday, March 20, 2006 at 1:56 PM

I agree with the comments about Randolph, but i am not so sure about bradley. Granted, doubling his season average would help but i think the key is going to be crawford. A slasher who can step back and drain the three ball. If he can just stay focused and motivated then i think we will put up a much better record than this one.

Barry on Monday, March 20, 2006 at 1:56 PM

got my ta evaluations back from last semester. I asked them to feel free to make comments that could help me become a better TA and here is one response. "Barry, with the goggles on, looks like the guy from 8 mile." Additionally I flipped around during games this weekend (by the way F%^& you Bradley, George Mason, West Virginia (tried to pick an upset), and Washington (ditto)), and saw what might be the worst movie ever made. I don't recall the title but it involves Jason (Friday the 13th) and outer space and the future.

joe on Monday, March 20, 2006 at 1:56 PM

do you need an exclamation point on a 48 point win?

Phil on Monday, March 20, 2006 at 2:02 PM

i once got a review back that said I needed to get a girlfriend.

Bigworm on Monday, March 20, 2006 at 2:05 PM

I wouldn't say it was a surpise. Vitale, and even though I hate him I agree, made the comment that this is the year to beat up on Kentucky cause next year you won't. He is correct. Rondo (still waiting to see if this is true), Bradley, Crawford, and Morris all said they'd definately be back for next year. Bradley is a big-time scorer (typical new york type point guard) and is almost as fast as Rondo. If we continue to play a 3 guard line-up with Rondo, Bradley, and Crawford, that might just be the best backcourt in the country bar none. Morris is really starting to mature and realizes he needs to battle every night, and he will. The CATS are getting an athletic PF in Perry Stevenson next year (6'9" 200 lbs.) who needs to put on some muscle but is a big time shot blocker and rebounder, that we desperately need. Bobby Perry ended his season on a high note (25 points against UAB, 20 against UCONN with around 7 rebs in each game) and I think he is going to be a good force for the CATS next year (Jr. who is coming into his own now and is hungry for his senior year). UK is also hot after several other big time recruits left on the board for 2006 and I believe we may sign another athletic forward (ranked top 30 in country in 2005 before he went to prep for a year, UT wouldn't release him) which is the key missing piece for this team and another center.

douglas on Monday, March 20, 2006 at 2:28 PM

if rondo stays, we'll be top 5 preseason next year. when crawford plays with his head out of his ass, he's the best all around player on the team, bradley has an enormous amount of potential, but will never realize it while rondo is still there. i almost hope rondo goes to the nba b/c he doesn't make UK's offense run efficiently, it's bad when a short stocky white dude runs the offense more efficiently than a mcdonald's all-american. perry and thomas are primed for monster senior years, if rondo does stay, we'll have 7 or 8 players interchangeable every night and wear the fuck out of some teams, this is depending on how good this freshman coming in is.

and for the record, rondo's gonna look into the nba, if he's a lottery pick, which i don't think there's a shot in hell of him being, he's gone, if he's first round, he's going to think about it.

I replied "that's like saying for a car under $1,000 a pinto is a great buy." Phil, it appears the "moving screen" is a real bone of contention amongst refs and officials the world over. Evidently, most do not feel as strongly about the call as the 300 pound woman that was in back of us tonight. However, it does cause a certain amount of anarchy as the following thread shows the sad and methodical decline into vicious name-calling and general character assault amongst a group of officials discussing the validity of the call and its existence at all in the following forum:

http://www.gmcgriff.com/discus/mess...html?1141308985

Marc on Monday, March 20, 2006 at 11:32 PM

The other night after Bearnos trivia I caught a tv movie on cbs (i believe). The movie was called Time Bomb. It was about a terrorist plan to blow up a arena full of people during a football game. It starred a few known people like Angela Bassett. But the lead role was played by David Arquette. Yes, if you know me, you know I have a deep deep hatred for David Arquette and Freddie Prinze Jr. And I generally refuse to watch anything with either of them in it. But there was nothing else on it seemed. so i watched it, and am reluctant to say sorta enjoyed it. it wasn't spectacular or anything, but it managed to entertain me for 90 minutes. I hate admitting that. But then again I liked the premise of the movie... although I liked the premise the first time when I saw Sudden Death that starred Jean Claude Van-Damme fighting terrorists at a Penguins hocky game. So maybe that's what happened.

Wing Commander on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 12:01 AM

Thank you New Line Cinema.

Marc on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 9:09 AM

I think the scary movie for Wade is "Midgets on a Plane" Because they're Midgets on a mother-fucking plane. You can't get away from them. You can't even seen them above the seat...but they're there....waiting....lurking....waiting to pounce and attack you with their short stubby appendages. A plummelling of tiny fists, ankles bites, and headbutts to the groin. (I think I might have made Wade shit himself, at least he shouldn't be near phil's floor when doing so.

Phil on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 9:21 AM

It's funny because the Wade is to midgets as Phil is to Snakes analogy is probably the best one. We both agree that their (lack of arms and legs | short stubby legs) are gods way of saying "You shouldn't exist!"

And they are both poisonous.

V for Vendetta was actually really good. It is not really an action movie, but more of a biting social commentary. I can garauntee most of the people who read this site will not like it, and call me gay and stupid for saying it was good, but more open minded people will probably like it.

Any objections?

Jay - Politics, they are what they are. Everyone who makes a claim thinks theirs is the best for any situation. I simply laugh because people will never agree. I have been hyped about this movie for a while, and I for one..will side with the terrorist.

Jay on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 2:22 PM

Barry, I actually meant open-minded about movies. Liking movies for what they are. Judging them on acting, directing, cinematography, plot, dialogue, and boobies.

Jay on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 2:25 PM

Phil, in wes's article, there is a picture to the right of a guy dressed up as one of the characters from Katamari Damacy.

I just read that Robin from how I met your mother was on the L Word. Anybody know if she was playing a lesbian on the show?

douglas on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 2:43 PM

every time i've ever been flipping thru and caught that show, it's been lesbians, so my guess is yes, and i need to see clips, b/c a lot of those chicks get naked, so if there's a naked robin, i'm gonna' need to see that

joe on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 2:44 PM

that'd be hot

Phil on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 3:05 PM

jerome and i have invested far too much time into looking for her boobies. I believe the best you can find is like a side boob shot from some other movie. and we are talking like "it might just be a wrinkle on her back" side boob.

not good times.

Barry on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 3:20 PM

jay, i figured you were talking about being open minded about movies. forgive me i often have difficulty explaining myself clearly. what i was getting at is that my friends seemingly are people that would love a story geared at ripping on bush and his "big brother" empire, but they did not like it. so there must have been something about the plot, acting, etc. that they did not like. then i just decided to get on a rant bec. i hear the crap i was talking about all the time. but now i'm going to have to rent it to make up my own mind as i have heard conflicting reviews. still won't pay 7.50 to see it.

Jay on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 3:46 PM

I often find that "open-minded" people are really just closed minded people that exist on the fringes. So, an open minded person would say, "You know, even though her head is shaved, I still think Natalie Portman is hot," As opposed to a closed minded person on the fringes saying, "I thought Natalie Portman was ugly until she shaved her head. I don't like any hair on girls at all. I'm open minded that way". As you can see, being open minded is different than just existing in the periphery. So yes, Barry, I did just answer your rant with another. And I can still crank it to Robin's back-fold.

Brock on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 4:47 PM

See, if Molly Ringwald would have taken those roles, she would have been one of hottest women in Hollywood at the time. Therefore, I wouldn't get harassed for thinking she was hot.

All I got to say Douglas, is we're counting 2000+ US soldiers dead in a senseless (in every part of the word) war. That's 5 of my high schools....dead. For what? I'm quite happy there's some influential people out there making this point. Cindy Sheehan might be an annoying bitch; but that never stopped Rush Limbaugh or Jerry Springer. If people want to speak out against the war; let them, you're not any better for speaking out here saying you want to kill them.

I understand people wanting to show loyalty and honor to the troops overseas; but sometimes you have to see the other side of things and question why you're there. I see no reason for us to be there; nor did I ever.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 8:22 AM

Cindy Sheehan is a bitter mother who lost her son in the war in Iraq. Her ex-husband, yes ex-husband, divorced her because she went crazy. Every time the troops are on TV they all say how we should be there, how are doing the right thing, and all want to stay there and are proud of fighting against the insurgents in order to finally liberate a country that has been oppressed for many many years. I am sure her son was the same. The dad supported him and understood his cause and his beliefs, but Cindy never did and is doing a public grief and out cry for her son. It would be different if he was drafted by the government, but he wasn't. It was his FREE CHOICE to join the military and his PATRIOTIC DUTY to serve as needed. He made the ultimate sacrafice for his country and he will always be remembered that way.

Baron to say this is a completely senseless war, you are mistaken. Forget about the WMD that they have or don't have let's focus on Saddam. Are you suggesting we pack up our shit, leave that damn country and allow him to take power again? I believe by toppling him and his regime, that is the greatest good for the people of Iraq. An end to Saddam the Tyrant is a good enough reason IMO. Costly - Yes, but worth it, Yes.

If the United States turns its back, who will stand up for the little people? No one.

So I ask you, do you want to empower Saddamn again?

Adrian your views on politics don't count and here is why.

Remember when the City/county was merging and you voted against the merger, not because you didn't want the two to merge, because when you were filling out your ballot and you got to Prop-48 or whatever the proposal was, you simply filled in "No".

And your reasoning was, "Well I don't know what this is, but I figure we must not need it". People who vote for or against something without making an informed decision shouldn't be allowed to vote.

joe on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 11:17 AM

Green Baron on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 11:28 AM

You know Wes,
I've lost count of the number of people who have asked me if I want Saddam back when I state my position on the war.
It's really quite simple. Just because I don't support the war, DOES NOT mean that I support Saddam.
I choose to live in the US. Does that mean I support Bush?
You and I both choose not to invade Russia. Does that mean we support Putin? We also choose not to invade Pakistan, China, Iran, N. Korea, Syria, Libya, Saudi Arabia...and countless other countries. Do we support all these leaders and they're tyranical dictatorships?
Back to leading up to the war. Was Saddam evil? Hell man, I don't know, I don't live in Iraq. I DO know however that the beliefs americans have on him are completely one-sided. I assume we have all gotten our sources on Saddam from everybody but Iraqis. So I'm not about to claim anything on him.
Two of the more popular claims:
He invaded Kuwait
He gassed his own people
Are filled with inacuracies and lop-sided accounts. First off, when Kuwait raised tariffs on oil transport and claimed oil fields within Iraq territory, Saddam felt justified in invading. I don't blame him.
Second, he gassed Kurds, not his own people. Kurds are not Iraqis; they are more gypsy like and do not claim to be part of any formed nation.
So as you can see, I can hardly make a decision on Saddam, as he never bugged me. Which is EXACTLY why we had NO BUSINESS meddling in others affairs. It is not the place of this country to forcefully remove the leaders of other countries; that is the job of the united world, or the UN.
Yes, the UN is corrupt and bureaucratic and nothing gets done, but it is the best method of action to reduce the reciprocal hatred.
I'm sorry, if I was an Iraqi, Saddam is my leader until I oust him. I wouldn't want someone coming in and doing the job for me. I hate Bush, but I'll be damned if I'll let some Frenchy oust him for me.
In regards to the soldiers....
I don't think you have the knowledge to say that every soldier over there is happy to be there. Many are National Guardsmen, who did not expect to be shipped overseas.
Next, about Sheehan. I'll tell you what. You have a child, look him/her in the eyes, and tell them, "Yah, go to war, you could get killed if you want" Then tell me how easy it is to watch them brought home in a casket. You could always just imagine it when they're a child. Then we'll talk.
Next, Sheehan has stated that she believes lies brought her son to war (some feel she is right). Personally, I'm just glad that someone speaks out against it publicly. I don't care if she's a psycho bitch. It's because of her that public discourse occurs on the topic so that people can be made aware of alternatives.

Marc on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 12:10 PM

Holy Shit, we got into poltics. (And it was techinically started by Douglas, not Baron.) I held back but now must quickly state my thoughts. I mostly agree with the Baron, because I am a hippie liberal douche to some degree. The only thing I wish to ask is can you always believe what the soldiers are telling you? This adminstation has classified numerous events and facts for purposes of "national security." Some justfully so, but I doubt that any of us belief some information isn't classified to simply cover some legislatives asses. Soldiers are often asked their thoughts by visiting senators or high-ranking officials, or by the media. However, dissention can often be punished in a military. There were soldiers who refused to "torture" before the uncovery of the Abu-Garab prison scandal, and they were dealt with by military court, even though some considered these acts "war crimes" or simply unjust. Speaking out about the war while you're under the government's thumb, in Iraq, can have negative consequences. Do some soldiers believe we are there justly? yes. Do some WANT TO BELIEVE they are there for just reasons? yes. Are some hesistant to speak out against the war given consequences? I guessing yes.

Some troops have come home and begun to run for their local offices, as their way to oppose the war. Nobody wants to put troops in harms way, unless it's absolutely necessary. America just have differing opinions on whether it's necessary.

Furthermore, I hope the Baron's long as post didn't make him #1 wordy bastard. That's all I got in life.

That being said,
I would absolutely love it if Saddam returned to power in Iraq.
I think the only way to control these people:

Is with a tyrannical dictator. I'm sorry, Democracy is reserved for rational individuals.

Nice Phil....censorship huh? That's a good way to promoting this as an open forum.

Take that Phil.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 12:23 PM

Baron - here is the problem though, Saddam runs for President, Dictator, Tyrant, etc...un-opposed and he still only gets 97% of the vote. When he took power, he executed people in congress, parliment or whatever other name you want to give it who opposed him. This is all very well documented and I wouldn't consider it lies. People have physical scars where his regime tortured people, public executions were all very much known and for what crime? And then there are Iraqies who were abducted in the middle of the night and never heard of again. Where do you think these people are? What about people who were just made examples out of?

And no, when my kids are born I will not be able to look them in the eyes and tell them, "yeah go to war, go get killed". However, even though it will hurt if that day ever comes, if my child ever goes to war my response will be "I am proud of you son/daughter and I understand you feel this is your patriotic duty. I'll see you when you come home". No, I don't ever wish this day to ever come, (I really don't want my kids to go to the military I have already told my wife that) but the realities of the world is war exists. If my kid joins the military and goes to war, I hope they return, alive. If not, I will grieve deeply I am sure, however, I will have a sense of pride knowing my child gave his/her life for a just cause. I believe the Iraq war is just for the simple understanding that Saddam would never leave. He knew the UN was in his back pocket for the whole Oil for Food Program corruption and wouldn't ever oust him from his power.

Well I guess that is one good thing Saddam did, he gave his money to charity. And by charity I mean the UN. And by good I mean if you consider buying off the UN good.

Marc - and what do you think of Al-zarqwai lopping of heads because they were American? Is that justified? He isn't even Iraqi, but Jordanian who is crossing the boarder blowing up Iraqis and Americans.

I for one will believe the soldiers before I will the media, who will all know acurately reports everything and never uses sensationalism for an audience.

I'll give you that this thing isn't black and white, lots of shades of gray and it is a huge clusterfuck right now.

Is torture justified in order to save American lives?

Green Baron on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 12:41 PM

My step-father spent 6 years in prison. Trust me, we torture our own people as well. Look at women's prisons, where rapes and beatings are rampant. My step-father likes to say, "In prison, the only innocent ones are the convicts." Meaning the guards are often more corrupt. If we were overthrown, would the victors grab our convicts and say, "Look at the torture handed down by Bush". You can bet on it.
Saddam didn't torture, his lower subordinates tortured. I've seen the reports of people claiming torture, I am not disagreeing that people got tortured. I'm saying I heard it from our news, which usually blows things out of proportion (Cincy riots anyone?).
In addition, MANY states torture. Are we going to overthrow all of them?
I don't think Sheehan is doing a disservice and disrespecting her son for speaking out against the war. Honestly, if I die in battle and my mom thinks it wasn't justified, I wouldn't interpret that to mean I wasted my life.
And as far as I know, there were very few members of the UN who benefitted from the oil for food program, which was established AFTER the gulf war. Also, notice my posting, I said the UN was corrupt and bureaucratic. I'm not saying its the end-all to war doctrine. I'm saying it's the best option if you don't want the world pissed at you.
Which brings me to my next point: Why don't we just invade Iran and Korea? Run by tortuous dictators. WMD actually present and bragged about. Hates americans. Harbors terrorists. No really.... Why not? As you begin to type the answer to this, be reminded that your response will be filled with reasons to which I felt the Iraq war was unjustified.

Bigworm on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 12:54 PM

The North Koreans are doing everything in their power to start a war with the United States.

1. Nuclear Arms willing to use against US and others
2. Constantly firing "test" rockets over Japan (US bases in Japan)
3. Using money/technology that was supposed to be used for the development of the country in order to better off the people, instead now they are using it for terroristic means.
4. Oppression

The reason why the US hasn't gone to war with them yet is because of the big ClusterFuck in Iraq for one (we cannot fight a 2 front war and spread ourselves overly thin). If the US attacks there goes Seoul via nuclear bomb, and all the US soldiers in South Korea. Furthermore, If the US attacks China will get involved, which will nullify our recent actions (and by recent I mean going back to Clinton, who nearly destroyed eveything we worked for with China over human rights), back later.

Green Baron on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 1:19 PM

So what I'm hearing is, we don't attack because:

1. Outrcry from neighboring nations and retaliatory actions by both the nation attacked and neighboring nations

Hmmmmm......
I don't buy the 2-front war thing; that's a popular response that isn't true.
The US defense budget is more than the rest of the world's....combined. We could really lick North Koreas's Ass...if it wasn't for the whole nuclear missile thing...which we have Patriot Missiles for.

"That's kicked....kicked his ass"
-A little Demolition Man for you, you can do what you want with it.

Green Baron on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 1:20 PM

that "Hmmmmmmm......" was supposed to be followed by, "Sound familiar?"

Bigworm on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 1:43 PM

Baron - you're right, to an extent. We are, however, with Nukes involved and some 60,000 US soldiers in South Korea I don't think losing 60,000 soldiers is on top of the US list right now. If North Korea nukes our guys, do you think that will stop us from nuking them? Whenever a neighboring nation is China and we are already at odds with them over Taiwan, things look more gray than black and white.

Also, since North Korea is borderline crazy, if they nuke that area then China is dealing with the consequences of that bomb.

Green Baron on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 2:24 PM

So far, I haven't seen proof they have nukes. Personally, I call bullshit. But hell, what a fireworks show huh?

Anyway, this whole thing started over Cindy Sheehan. Look, she's a psycho, no doubt. But I hate people gettin' on her case, so I'm sorry I got this thing started over Douglas goin' after her, but I wish people would just lay off her. Who knows how any of us would respond if our child comes home in a casket. So what, you don't agree with her. Then don't listen. It's that simple. Look at Anne Coulter, on the bitch of the millenia award list, she's first, right in front of Sheehan. You won't believe how much I hate this bitch. How many times I've wished she's gone down in a plane crash and how many stinger missiles I've wasted trying to make that wish come true. That shit ain't cheap.
But you know what, I listen to her, I hear her point, I conclude she's a stupid fuck, and then I go about my day. I wish people would do that with Sheehan. There's other nutcases out there bitchin' about stuff, Sheehan just gets the facetime because it's about Iraq. Who gives a fuck what it's about. Listen and leave it alone.
Plus, I see people always attacking her, the person, not the politics. As Mark put it, that just makes you appear petty. None of us has lost a child, who knows what we'd do if we did. Me? I'd blame Xenu, and start preaching the Scientology doctrine.

Green Baron on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 2:26 PM

And that goes for you too Phil. You don't like the politics, then don't read it.
If you want, I can begin all my political posts (if I'm asked again, which I doubt) with a
*politics - PDFRTP*

if that would make you happy

Bigworm on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 2:29 PM

Baron I actually agree with you.

Damn you Xenu and your mind controlling drugs!
