Things Are Gonna Change - I Can Feel It

By popular demand, a new post.  Word to your mother.

Anyways, work has been kind enough to hook me up with an account.  Nothing really should change, but I will have 4GB of storage space.  Hosting movies and the such won't be an option, because bandwidth is still at a premium, but I can store a lot more crap on here. 

If you are curious about where this stuff is hosted, take a look at a Xodiax's facility information.  In summary:

  • On two power grids (including one redudant power grid, so it's really on three seperate power grids).  Plus a  750 kW Kohler diesel generator.  Oh, and the Xodiax data center is located in a hospital zone, which means high priority from the electrical utility, fire and police
  • Reinforced concrete walls are 12-18 inch thick

So, theoretically, NattySci.com could withstand one hell of an attack from physical forces.  And Law & Order: Natty Sci (doink, doink) will take care of all the busters out there hatin' on the site.

I should mention that while this change happens weird things will happen. I'm still at the old host right now, and even once I get everything in place to make the movie, it will still be a couple of days before everyone sees the same version.

As for James's question about O'Shea's Trivia: Gone. They are doing poker night instead. Basically the same thing applies. You play poker to win bar money. I don't even think you have to pay to get involved. But instead of trivia, it's just poker. According to Joe, 30 people played last time.

Acronym Bee: Considering that it was me with our sales guy, and a girl from Marketting, we held our own. We finished ahead of teams from Kindred, UPS and some company called SS. Beat by a team from Cisco and AT&T though. I choked on a couple that I should have known:
ATM (the switching stuff, jackass)
AT&T
PCI

If we could have gotten those, we would have been in the final round. But I did get some that few teams knew, which kinda surprised me. I knew PCL and PARC.

But there was one team that had this dude that just answered EVERYTHING. His teammates didn't even say a word. He'd just write the answer down. Our other team got stomped with a lot of main frame specific questions like DEC, RLL and other crap from 1970.

Next year, I'm gonna study during down time and me and the marketting guys are going to shock the world!

Natty Sci Cincy is busting loose on the UC Intramural world. We are 1-2 in Flag Football, mainly because we have Ohio U's former starting running back, and the Volleyball is 1-2, which is awesome considering half the team has never even touched a volleyball before. Since we play in the Coed leagues, we are quickly becoming the arch-nemesis to the Coed Fraternity Alpha Phi Omega. Reminds me of the old days getting into it with that poser frat ADG.

As for Jay, Happy Freedom from the Womb day. I'll be in Louisville around 7PM. Hope you've got the blood transfusion ready because by 11, you'll have more alcohol than blood running through those veins.

This shouldn't come as any surprise to anyone.
Nor to last night, all major networks (antenna that is, I'm a poor bastard) aside from Fox (shocking, I know) decided to air Bush's campaign speech at the Great American Ballpark. Pure Republican propaganda....two days before an election....for free.
There I was, watching my 60 minutes, when boom, Arnold is cut off mid-sentence to take me live to GAB to hear ass-clown. They said temporarily, but no, we stayed for the whole speech. ALL NETWORKS.
So instead I get to watch these morons clap to Bush telling them that he cares nothing about what they think. Like when he said, "A politician should not do what the majority wants, he should lead with conviction and logic". What? A majoral elected politician shouldn't care what the people want? And all these idiots are clapping to him, saying, "Thank you for telling us our opinion means nothing to you, you will be sure to get our vote in two days."
Please, if I hear one more asshole tell me media is liberal, I'm gonna kick some serious ass. Whether Bush or Kerry, airing free campaign rhetoric for 45 minutes is not what the media should be doing. The fact that they let the Bush campaign in is horseshit, it was a free occasion, and it didn't sell out. Therefore, it shouldn't be on TV.

MTV originally was not going to air it. But a couple political websites (dailykos and GNN I believed) pushed on the TRL submit page until they were forced to air it.

But it is in fact on MTV, and is the #1 video right now. I personally believe that MTV airs only real world vs road rules reruns along with pimp my ride.

Preface: Not an attack on Marc

Now I understand the slanted views of many. That article might as well be in the enquirer or the Globe. Now, I didn't want to talk about this anymore, but reading articles like that is like listening to Limbaugh and believing he's not partisan.

Of course there were 1-3% votes thrown out. This "hanging chad" argument probably makes up about 1-5% of the original 1%. The other 99% of the votes that are thrown out are because someone voted for Kerry and Nader, or Kerry and Cobb, hell even Bush and Kerry. They punched the card more than once, and not just when they meant to vote for Kerry.

"Expert statisticians investigating spoilage for the government calculated that 54 percent of the ballots thrown in the dumpster were cast by black folks."

1- The margin of error in that calculation is high, because how do you know who cast those votes... you guess based on demographics of the precinct, and thats just odds.
2- The ballot setup is pretty intense for anyone, and low-income individuals tend to get confused (I couldn't figure out how to do a write-in at first), but won't ask for help or don't even realized they messed up.
3- As a voter in a black majority precinct, the reason why African-american votes are thrown out is because they make mistakes like everyone else. The difference is, if I made a mistake on my card, I would approach the poll officials and ask for a new ballot. Listening to people standing in line at the polls, I guarantee the majority of black voters wouldn't let "those white officials get within 10 feet of my ballot." Simply, they won't approach officials for a new ballot, or admit they made a mistake.

It comes down to this... its not some Republican conspiracy that votes are thrown out, its just mistakes on the side of voters. And any argument for these voter mistakes swinging the election is just grasping for fairy tales.

Since I broke my rule, TAKE DOWN YOUR DAMN KERRY/EDWARDS SIGNS! I don't still see any BOB DOLE signs in the yard, or even YES ON 3 signs, put your damn fridge or couch back out on the lawn.

First of all, the greatest defensive showing of natty sci history. we pitched a shut out in the first half, featuring lynnie picking off a pass towards the end of the half right as they were building momentum down the field. offensive highlight would be joe taking a quarterback draw up the middle the length of the field for the score.

natty sci 12, other team 0.

second half we got away from our game plan and suffered a complete collapse. one fade pass that involved the ball going end over end into the other teams hand led to a score that put us up by only six. we counter with a score of our own, giving us a 12 point lead with 2 minutes to go. The score featured a play where burket levels some guy in the back field while blocking, gets a dump off pass, and then levels someone else on the way to end zone.

the other team proceeds to launch some ghetto ass throw 30 yards down the field, and scored shortly after that. they add a single point conversion to bring them within 5.

so it's natty sci ball with 1:15 to play. time to run out the clock. a quick pass takes all of 6 seconds off the clock as we run out of bounds accidentally. a quick run adds a few more yards, but it's quickly becoming apparent that we need a first down to be able to take all the time off the clock.

and then, the play of the century. Douglas throws a quick hit to burket, and he's moving down the field trying to pick up first down yardage. AND HE GETS STIPPED OF THE BALL, Kerry Rhodes style. The other team takes the fumble back for a score, putting them up be 1. Conversion ensues. Now, the other team should have just taken a knee because a busted play returned for a touchdown would be unlikely, but we could have tied it if we pulled it off. But their QB is rolling out right into Douglas. He does some retarded pump fake and lower his shoulder. Douglas wraps him up and "tackles him."

Which provokes the "THAT WASN'T NESCASARY!" yell and the QB throws the ball at Douglas' back. Douglas at this point turns around to face QB guy who puts up his dukes, and takes like four steps back. Flags go flying and the refs start yelling at the other team to stop being bitches.

Anyways, off setting penalties - natty sci ball with 1:15 to go. We bring out the big guns - B-mac (how the fuck would you spell that) steps into QB to lead our drive down the field. A quick hit and we move 15 yards. A few busted ass plays move the ball a few yards, but take too much time off the clock. B-mac scrambles out and out runs a dude to the sideline to stop the clock, putting us in position to attempt the hail mary. Douglas and myself inexplicably get behind their defense and b-mac heaves the ball down field - right to Douglas. But the ball is slightly tipped and falls inches from his hands.

Game over.

So, for the record:
Natty Sci shutout a non-girl team for a half
Lynnie had a clutch interception
Burket (BURKET!) fumbled the ball with time running out
Got in a fight, refs took ourside again
Almost pulled off the hail mary comeback to their comeback

The only thing that was missing was the big jay touchdown and then the ensuing big jay touchdown dance.

I'm not making excuses because I know I sucked ass, but my fumble was not the only thing that cost us the game. First of all, refs should have to call stripping tackling too. It's the same principle. You should have to go for the flags or nothing else. I suck and shopuld have held on to the ball or just ran the fucker over. Secondly, there was the interrception that was ran back for a TD. Adding to the sting of a one point loss is the fact that we converted ZERO extra points. Finally, up by two TDs with less than a quarter of the game left, we should have just kept running the ball and following our blockers instead of trying to force passes.

To sum it up, I can't hold on to a football and should never touch the ball again unless I'm playing defense, and Natty Sci sucks no matter who we try to bring in to help us win.

So who's up for taking the forfeit next week and playing tackle?

I think no matter who had the ball they were going to strip it. In retrospect, we probably should have been running with the ball like a FB after they started yelling strip the ball from the sideline. But I don't think ANYONE in the history of flag football has had the ball legally stripped. Then again, not many people have had their ass ran over in flag football, so filing that formal complaint might not be in our best interest.

While the University of Memphis basketball team was winning its first exhibition Saturday night, a campus apartment that houses players was burglarized.

The victims were Clyde Wade, Arthur Barclay, Rodney Carney and Joey Dorsey. According to a report filed with the Memphis Police Department at 11:04 p.m. Saturday, the four players were robbed of approximately $66,720 worth of possessions, including eight mink coats valued at $40,000.


However, by Monday afternoon, the report was amended and minks removed.

Curt Guenther, director of communications services at the UofM, said late Monday that the report instead now stated that nine fur coats "of some description" and two fur purses were taken. All together, those items were valued at $3,600, and, according to Guenther, did not belong to the players, but rather a friend.

Memphis coach John Calipari declined comment after the Tigers' 110-46 victory over LeMoyne-Owen on Monday, citing a lack of knowledge about the situation. He added that he planned to meet with Wade, Barclay, Carney and Dorsey after his postgame press conference.

The original police report listed descriptions of 20 types of items that were taken. Among them were $2,500 in diamond earrings, $4,000 in custom-made shirts and $6,000 worth of shoes.

No arrests have been made. Campus police said Monday that the investigation is ongoing.

i agree pil, but it skates the line of satire. because it does base the story off the truth and does try to do it in a funny way. Baron doesn't think it is funny because of the actual truth of it though. and I can understand that. I often laugh at this President and administration as their absurdities, but when I truly think about it, it isn't funny in the fact that it is true. the absurdity in this "semi-satire" is in the truth, not an outside absurdity brought to the thurth to make it funny, like you'd see on the Daily Show on SNL Weekend Update.

we were wearing flags, but some people did end up getting dropped. we may have set a record for most points given up in a 2 minute period (35), and most violent incidents.

let's see here. we had burket running over some guy who didn't get up fast enough, causing the guy to scream "COCKSUCKER" and walk off the field mid play. To which burket responded "GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS BEFORE IT GETS SNAPPED!"

We had the football thrown at B-Mac incident after b-mac elbowed the guy in the chest. I'm not sure if B-Mac hessitated on the retalitory throw, but he was at least 15 feet off and flew like a duck. Ball did almost go into the street.

We had the jackass running around after the interception where I tried to slam the ball out of his hands, and he got slammed down by Mark.

Any other incidents? Luckily the comedy stylings of phil running the option prevented any post game meelee.

That analysis of the Lions sounds exactly like the Saints.

Technically its not that huge of a test, relatively speaking (with the exception of Purdue). However, since UC has had a long history of playing ultra-cupcake pre-conference schedule, this is an improvement. The fun should be late in the season when they play Wake and Xavier.

Louisville has got themselves a nice helping of the SEC this year, and I for one hope they sweep those 3 teams just for spite of how cocky the SEC claims to be every year, despite pretty poor post-season performance (statistically-speaking, if you put 8 teams in, you should do better). I don't vouch for C-USA, but all this "crap-conference" talk will soon end next year when the Big East bolsters itself and we watch the Big 10 and Big 12 drop to 2nd tier status.

In 2005, look for the Big East and ACC to dominate college basketball with the SEC and Pac10 battling it out for the scraps of the pathetic Big 10/12.

Orange Bowl (national championship): USC vs Okahoma

So say Texas looses. We move into the top 6, right? Well, not so fast my friends. We will probably be passed by Miami and Georgia before the end of the year. Notice we are only .002 higher than the 9th place team. So we need a Miami loss to Virginia Tech AND a georgia loss to Georgia Tech, otherwise we stay at 7th place and without anyone to dance with. And if Virginia Tech beats Miami (which is good) AND Virginia, they'll probably leap us too. Not good times.

So ok, saying the football gods smile upon us and grant us:
1) A Texas A&M victory over Texas
2) A Miami loss to Virginia Tech
3) A Virginia Tech loss to Virginia
4) A Georgia Tech win over Georgia

we'd be safely into the top 6 and they must take us, right? Wrong. If the Pac-10 champion goes to the national championship game, the Rose Bowl doesn't have to follow the normal rules. They can take Cal even if we slide ahead of them. I'll repeat that because it warrants repeating: The Rose Bowl can ignore the "top 6 you are in at large clause." Crap.

So we need Cal to somehow lose to a Southern Miss team on the decline. BUT, a more likely situation would be a USC loss to either UCLA or Notre Dame. That would knock them out of the national championship, and giving the rose bowl the more traditional Pac-10 champ and not loosing a team to the national championship.

So, in my head the stars align like this:
1) A Texas A&M victory over Texas
2) A Miami loss to Virginia Tech
3) A Virginia Tech loss to Virginia
4) A Georgia Tech win over Georgia
5) Either a USC or Cal loss

That would put change things like so:
Orange Bowl (national championship): Oklahoma vs Auburn
Rose Bowl: Michigan vs USC
Fiesta: Utah vs Boston College
Sugar: Miami vs .... Louisville?

So, does this theory sound about right? I'm sure that the fiesta / sugar bowl matchups would be different. But I'm not too familiar with the selection process to figure out how things would line up.

I was amazed at how well Cincy can "Logo Stomp". I definitely say they are one of the top 5 Logo Stomping teams in the nation. Their running backs were especially impressive. Did you see that move the starting Cincy running back put on our logo? He jumped up and then did a 180 degree spin, then he hopped on one leg and went 180 degrees the other way. It should make the ESPN top 10 highlights tonight.

Their Linebackers were also very fast when they ran up to the logo. And since our logo is a little larger than most, I thought Cincy's linebackers and backfield would have a hard time containing it. Boy was I wrong. They did a great job and basically just swarmed all around it, our logo had no chance.

All in all it was a very impressive performance by Cincy. The good news for us is this year Cincy loses 15 of their Logo Stomping starters. I'm so glad because I don't know if I could take another vicious beating like that.

great day of football. i was at first pissed off about the bengals vs. browns game, but that turned into a doosey. then the pats game in the mud, and the snow game in denver and all was good in the world.

plus NO shitty dome games. god I hate watching football played in a dome, especially if astroturf is involved. BARF.

hey adrian, you know how you mentioned SCO got hacked? Word on the street is that it was running an older version of PHP, and people having found some exploits for it. Supposedly quite a few sites have been compromised recently, and PHP is being pointed to as a culprit.

You might want to ensure that your servers are running 4.3.9 or 5.0.2.

looks like good ol' Cobra Kai pulls the upset. Despite the 45-17 point loss, Bulger almost had as many points as Favre, and Faulk actually got enough carries to push me over the top. I should have gone with the laundry pooper Najeh Davenport. 178 yards and a touchdown. Had I known Mike Martz was going to try to loose the game, I probably would have sat Fault down. But a win is a win, although it's always sweeter when your star player quite possibly broke into a down and took a dump in a closet before the game. Anyways, final tally:

I read on ESPN that the BCS committee is not ruling out a possible UTAH vs Auburn game. Most likely it won't happen but it is still possible. So that would be two BCS games that involoved undefeated teams playing each other. Now that would be wicked.

Alright, it's time for a rant. I don't know if anyone else was shocked (or cares) about Jason White winning the Unitas golden arm award. Anyways, something is very wrong with that. I mean you have this fucker who somehow plays for the better part of 6 seasons and has only a hair over 7000 yards??! With Oklahoma's offense? WTF!!! This fucker already won a Heisman trophy that he didn't deserve. Larry Fitzgerald should have gotten that. I don't know whose balls he's sucking but I find this unbelievable. Jessica Simpson will re-ignite special Christmas family memories on the upcoming Nick + Jessica Family Christmas TV variety show by performing with her younger sister Ashlee.

The festive performance of Little Drummer Boy will mark the first time the Simpson sisters have sung together outside the family living room.

Simpson says, "We've only done it in the living room, so hopefully it'll be great."

Meanwhile, Simpson's husband Nick Lachey has revealed his former boy band 98 Degrees will reunite for the TV special, and perform together for the first time in three years.
