Bambi Walk.

A friendly reminder that tonight (Friday the 23rd) at 7:15ish the Bambi Walk gets under way. Who's all there? Lynnie's crew, a bunch of Dutch hockey players, and some people from my sunday team. Good times.

Late start for a Bambi walk

Phil on Friday, July 23, 2010 at 12:04 PM

Indeed. I don't have a lot of hope for this one making it to Bardstown Rd.

Dom, Shannon and Steph are now also in. We may be looking at a group of 30. FANTASTIC

joe on Friday, July 23, 2010 at 12:23 PM

Is this an extreme endurance challenge doing the Bambi walk in 100 degree weather?

Phil on Friday, July 23, 2010 at 12:24 PM

I was watching Louie last night, and he met some chick was into older guys. So they are hooking up and she starts yelling at him to talk dirty to her by saying how old is his. So he's saying shit like "I was born in 1967. I remember when you could smoke on planes."

But I lost it when he said "I'm older than every Major League baseball player besides Jamie Moyer who I hear is still in the Phillies rotation" and she goes "OH GOD YOU ARE SO FUCKING OLD YEEEEEEEEEEEES!"

Best sex talk line ever.

I was also drunk

Phil on Friday, July 23, 2010 at 12:24 PM

Sweet action, Ross is in for the Bambi Walk. It's getting LARGER!

douglas on Friday, July 23, 2010 at 12:48 PM

anyone doing hullabalou this weekend? my sister actually called me last night w/ a free ticket to bon jovi tonight

joe on Friday, July 23, 2010 at 12:58 PM

Wasn't planning to go. Actually seems like it will be quite miserable.

douglas on Friday, July 23, 2010 at 1:05 PM

after getting back from lunch and realizing how fucking hot it is you might be right, but i'm not going 'til tonight, I'm not doing the all day thing, and bon jovi doesn't come on 'til 9:30, so hopefully it won't be too bad

joe on Friday, July 23, 2010 at 1:48 PM

Hullabalou will be great people watching, trash and half naked chicks (most will be both).

douglas on Friday, July 23, 2010 at 2:15 PM

i'm going without the wife so i hope so

Brock on Friday, July 23, 2010 at 5:50 PM

I sense that Joe is making excuses for all plans tonight in order to sit on his couch.

I, on the other hand, will be making a trip to Bed, Bath, and Beyond... maybe over to Home Depot, and if we have time, maybe the fabric shop.

In actuality, I'm going to haul the 500 lbs of change I found in Phil's car to the bank and put a down payment on a house. If only they took KFC receipts, I could retire.

joe on Friday, July 23, 2010 at 6:23 PM

I have been productive: oil change and liquor barn.

Wrecking Crew on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 9:54 AM

I fell asleep watching the Reds win. At least, I think they won. God we suck. Of course I will be getting black out drunk with Joanna's family today. Productive weekend.

Bigworm on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 10:11 AM

Sounds more fun than my weekend of studying pharmaceutics.

Phil on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 12:26 PM

I drank enough for everyone last night, don't worry.

joe on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 2:02 PM

strong work.

Brock on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 5:51 PM

Brewfest next weekend. Oh, the glory!

douglas on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 8:10 AM

i guess sundays don't count towards perfect days

joe on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 9:14 AM

Drinking is still fun, but hard to come back from. I wasn't even hungover yesterday, but it is taking 2 days to recover.

adrian on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 9:17 AM

I cooked like a lobster from being at the lake over the weekend

joe on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 9:23 AM

I still have your chairs and sunglasses from 4th of July. I also have I think Jay's bag of stuff and a random lid to a container.

Brock on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 10:08 AM

So how did the Bambi walk finish?

Phil on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 10:50 AM

Not 100% sure on the end. Definitely made it to Molly's, but I think I ended up wandering off and buying pizza.

My buddy Ken has a voice mail from the Dutch guys we were with that says "KEN WE ARE WAITING FOR YOU TO COME JOIN US FOR OUR WALK TO THE RIVER!" so who knows if those guys are alive

Brock on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 3:16 PM

Sounds like you all were on a mission. Did you just have a drink at each place and move on quickly? Do you know which ones you did hit?

I need these details for the record books.

Phil on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 3:23 PM

Well the obvious problem with details is that I clearly blacked out somewhere around Bearnos / Tony Bombozz.

But we had a set of dutch engineers leading the charge with a print out so we hit everything on the "official bambi walk t-shirt", plus a few extra like Za's. I was for a while pretty good about just getting something like a Miller Lite but soon I found myself finishing girls beers for them which then led to me wanting better beer which then led me to ordering 23oz beers which then led to time traveling to my bed the next morning.

I'm told that night caused more than a few "I hate Phil Scott" posts on facebook, so I got that going for me, which is also a good sign.

joe on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 3:57 PM

The only one I saw was from Shannon.

joe on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 3:59 PM

Of Shannon and Dom, not that another shannon didn't have that as their wall post.

douglas on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 3:59 PM

not babymama i hope, i know my sister spotted her at molly's

Phil on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 4:23 PM

Ah, Shannon should hate me.

Is anyone running in the Alumni Race on August 12th?

joe on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 7:04 PM

Crossed my mind if I can run.

joe on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 7:56 AM

I have done 6 of the past 9 since I graduated. I missed one because it was a saturday morning and a full 5k and I missed one to drink with Cuban at a Bat's game and I didn't run last year for some reason. If my back will hold up I think I will give it a shot and die. I haven't done much exercise in the past couple months. Moving the run to Tom Sawyer Park really pissed me off.

Phil on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 8:49 AM

So is it back to being a 2 miler? I think I could gut that bitch out.

Granted my legs feel like absolute jello right now after my 5 mile walk on Saturday and hockey on Sunday and Monday, so clearly I'm a bitch so who knows.

joe on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 9:03 AM

They have messed with the distances every year. They shortened it one year due to the heat and then they shortened it one year because of an archery tournament on the course. I thought they shouldn't have altered the course that year.

I like what they say about the A's hats.

Adopted by: Almighty Ambrose Nation (Chicago), Orchestra Albany (Chicago), Spanish Cobras (Chicago)
Why: The Ambrose and the Albany share the same first letter as the Athletics, while the Spanish Cobras rock the green A's caps to represent their primary color.
Complex says: Three gangs from the same city rockin' the same hats? Shit must've gotten real dicey in those shootouts.

Going to a family wedding Saturday. My cousin just graduated from UL in May and her husband will graduate in a year. They are part of the yea Jesus side of the family that has rocked t-shirts with fetuses as an anti-abortion fashion statement before they could walk. My mom was telling me that reception is a school gym with no DJ but an IPod hooked up to something, and the toast is not to alcohol but to milkshakes. However, there are 2 kegs. Her mom asked my mom if 2 kegs is too much beer for the beer drinkers. My mom laughed and said does she expect most of us to quit at 2 beers? Should be an epic wedding.

well not redoing it, just painting the cabinets and replacing the hardware (hinges and handles). sarah and i are pretty much on lockdown regarding anything that costs money right now until all this trial bullshit is over. we've been wanting to do it, we had the paint, just got new handles and that's it. it's not hard, just tedious as hell. painting walls is a lot faster b/c you just use a roller, a lot bigger pain in the ass doing cabinets

I don't understand peoples use of the thermostat. If it gets hotter outside you don't have to make it colder inside, the same temperature will suffice that you have left it on all summer. It gets hot so you wear short sleeves to work so the office cranks it down to freezing. They do the opposite in the winter. So basically in the winter dress for summer and summer dress for winter. Logic at its finest.

St. Matthews was originally called Gilman's Point, named after the bar that was located there. It used to be a major center for cockfighting, and was once "The Potato Capital of the World"

Weird dream of the night.

So we all went on some sort of road trip for some reason (adrian's bachelor party?). Anyways we are getting hammered at some bar where we meet some ladies. And because this is a dream, I'm not creepy and awkward so I hit it off with some chick. Well I go back to her hotel room to do the do with her. But I gotta first leave my bag of stuff in my hotel room. So I go to that hotel room, drop it off, and head back to her place.

So I sneak off the next morning, go back to my hotel room and I'm peeing when in walks this 5 year old black kid.

I'm in the wrong hotel room. So I get out of there quick before I'm found out. Problem - all my stuff is now in some strangers hotel room.

Then I woke up.

Philco,

Create a web service that will return the last 20 comments of the most current post in descending order. I will need other functionality but need to stRt out with the basics when using objective C

I need to work on grabbing the results and displaying them for starters

Phil on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 2:52 PM

I was going to redo the site in MVC. I was also going to expose three methods in a web service:

GetRecentComments(int numberOfComments)
That would return the most recent comments

GetPreviousComments(int startingComment, int numberOfComments)
That would return the previous comments from a given comment's id so you could have like a "Previous 20 Comments" button.

AddComment(string commentText, string userName, string password)
Adds a comment (duh)

Brock on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 3:19 PM

We could discuss how fucking awesome the Reds game was last night. Down 4 in the 8th and they score 4 in the 8th to tie and 4 in the 9th to just piss all over the D-backs rug.

Seriously, after Brandon Phillips hit that double in the 9th, I fully expected him just just take a leak right there on second base while waving to the fans pouring out of the stadium.

Granted this was Arizona, who sucks, but a 3 game lead this late in the season makes anyone giddy.

Shit! I didn't even realize the Cumberland River was flooding. I don't think its anything serious. We just had several days of rain off and on, so apparently they have to let some out of the damn up-river and its making the river higher than normal.

I was debating with my cousin at the game last night about him bring his 3 kids to the game and who is at fault when I spill beer on them. I'm carrying a beer for myself and bringing one to my dad and his 3 kids are running around aimlessly and bump into me and I do the raise the beers while doing a 360 beer spill to spill in every direction but on them. At a past game I was lectured for my language when they were there. I feel that bringing your kid to thirsty thursday is your own risk and I shouldn't have to be responsible for my own actions. joe on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 9:07 AM

I was picked up to go back to playing softball yesterday to avoid a forfeit so I was stuck at first base as I am not as graceful moving as I once was and was avoiding more injury. I will say, as long as no lefty pulls a missle right at you, first base is the way to go. It isn't far from the dugout and you just hang out.

Also, never put Chris at shortstop.

i played second base over the weekend and it was a refreshing change of pace from the usual shortstop / 3rd base i'm usually playing in softball

joe on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 10:18 AM

Hartline or Froman? Which QB will screw up and lose the game?

douglas on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 10:41 AM

hartline's 2-0 vs. UL teams that were better than this year's, so I'd put my money on him to win

joe on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 10:47 AM

Do you want Hartline as your QB this season? Hartline did win last year, but he really didnt help their cause much. Is he the best QB to manage this team? I think Froman will try to be Elway and Favre rolled into one and take of and throw a dumb interception or 2 or try and scramble for an extra yard or 2 and get lit up and fumble.

douglas on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 10:57 AM

at the beginning of the season i try not to hold opinions of QBs, he's obviously the most experienced and was doing reasonably well before he got injured. plus you never know how well he's developed in the offseason. that said, i do think he's on a relatively short leash this year. newton proved he could manage games last year as a freshman, especially against tough competition. but they kept the play calling extremely conservative for him so who knows what he can do. as long as they win i don't give a fuck

douglas on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 10:58 AM

and i know absolutely nothing about UL's quarterback situation so I won't even try to offer an opinion on whether froman will be good or not

joe on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 11:06 AM

Whoever UK's 3rd string guy is will transfer.

joe on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 11:07 AM

UL's best QB Will Stein isn't allowed to play because he is too short. All I have heard is that if he was over 6 feet tall he would be a D-I starter. Burke and Froman both suck I believe.

douglas on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 11:08 AM

ryan mossakowski. what's interesting is he named hartline the starter, but didn't name a 2nd string officially, so technically newton and moss are even. i think he's trying to avoid that scenario becoming a reality. newton was forced to step in last year b/c moss was hurt and redshirting, but moss is supposed to be every bit as good as newton with a cannon, more of a traditional pocket passer, while newton's more of a runner/playmaker. i think most people prefer newton b/c they've never seen moss yet

douglas on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 11:09 AM

wasn't burke the QB last year?

joe on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 11:18 AM

Froman was going to start but was hurt in the preseason, so Burke started at the beginning of the season and got hurt so Stein came in for a game then Froman came back and finished the season.

Bigworm on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 4:10 PM

I am guessing UK will exploit UofLs smalllish defensive line and go with a running game. With Hartline under center, we know we won't see a pass more than 15 yards down field.

Best story of the day:
I was at lunch and lady at work started commenting on personal things about my family. Other people thought it was strange, not knowing my grandpa worked at the VA and she is old enough to work with him. In filling them in of this information she gets personal and starts calling my grandpa mean. I question that and apparently she is still holding a grudge from 20 something years ago when my grandpa made her cry at work.

Therefore, it is family tradition to make women cry.

douglas on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 1:18 PM

the appropriate response probably would've been that i'm sure he had good reason to make you cry

Phil, Bob Valvano just came on the Early Birds and starting taking cheap shots at Drew Diener's hockey skills.

douglas on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 9:30 AM

to answer your question, amazing athletic accomplishment. i haven't played ball in six years now and i wouldn't be competing well in college, much less AA professional ball. also considering everyone was gunning for him and he's freaking 6'6" or something with a huge strike zone, he also finished 3rd on the team in RBIs too

oh, and robert sullie and justin coleman are ineligible for UL this year, it's gonna be ugly

joe on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 12:55 PM

Rick was on the radio this morning commenting on it. When asked why Sallie was ineligible he said "I think he never graduated and got a degree from Memphis." He said Kuric or Swopshire will take the positions of left by those 2.

Rick went on to say he wants this years style to be like the 96 championship team, then laughed saying there is no where near that talent level, but I want us to have the 7 passes in 7 seconds that that team did. He then added you know, our 13th man on this roster is not Nazr Mohammed who is still in the NBA.

Phil on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 12:57 PM

Coleman was no surprise - Sallie was brought in to help fill that void. I wonder if Sallie just couldn't pass the GRE or whatever. The whole thing seemed like a hail mary from the onset so I'm not shocked it blew up.

On the plus side - it's Kyle Kuric time!

joe on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 1:08 PM

The plan is to lock Kuric in a room with the Syracuse game on make him watch it over an dover. Pitino said he hopes Kuric wins the job because he has the athletic edge and speed over swopshire.

douglas on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 2:36 PM

joe on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 9:11 AM

$200-250?

douglas on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 9:51 AM

i actually just called and they said $310. maybe they raised it. sarah's aunt called us yesterday, her father in law died earlier this summer and they're about to take a bunch of stuff to an estate sale, but they're trying to offload a bunch of it to family and friends, including a two year old pool table that's been barely used that's apparently pretty nice. i'm trying not to spend money right now but it sounds like we can get a steal on it

joe on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 9:54 AM

I hadn't moved a pool table in a few years so $310 sounds reasonable. You can typically refelt it then too if it needs it or you want a different color.

douglas on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 10:03 AM

i don't know what it looks like, but his widow told sarah it's apparently a really nice table that the dude took good care of. if we can play the poor family member connection and get it for a few hundred bucks, plus the cost of moving it, it will beat the hell out of paying a couple grand for a new one

In 2006, film student Alex Kralie began work on his first feature-length film. Titled Marble Hornets, it was about a guy returning to his childhood home after a lengthy absence. Kralie and his friends were rather excited about working on it.

After two months of on-and-off shooting, Kralie suddenly canceled the project, claiming it to be due to "unworkable conditions".

Jay, his friend, asked him what he was going to do with the tapes. Kralie replied flatly:

"Burn them."

After much arm-twisting, Jay persuaded Kralie to at least give him the tapes, to which Kralie agreed under the condition that they were never mentioned to him again. Kralie transferred to an out-of-state school, never speaking to Jay or anyone else again.

Jay, spooked by Kralie's comments, filed the tapes away and forgot about them. Until July 2009.

While reading a thread on Something Awful about The Slender Man Mythos, Jay was reminded of the tapes and inspired to look through them. He promised in the Something Awful thread to post any interesting things from them to YouTube.

He sat down and started watching the hundreds of unmarked tapes. There was some scary shit in there.

Jay started a Twitter page to chronicle his findings. Since Entry #9, he's noted a guy named 'totheark' responding to each entry.

Here are the videos

Actually, to play D, in a 'no check' ligue, is the toughest job on the ice. You can't use the normal tools of the defencemen (to hit guys). My brother, was the toughest defencemen that I seen in my life, just guys were scared of him, he almost kill guys, on the ice or in the parking . He could not do it ! Anyone doing anything for the game tomorrow? Draft still on for tonight?

douglas on Friday, September 03, 2010 at 9:28 AM

instead of saying i got nothing, i'll just ask what you want to do. i have no interest in going to tailgate at a game i'm not attending. i'll come over with beer or something

joe on Friday, September 03, 2010 at 9:32 AM

I am emergency back up call for a ticket to the game if Joanna decides she doesn't want to go to the game. The weather is supposed to be nice so I am expecting her to go. At the same time I don't want to wait and not get the call and sit around by myself. If I don't go to the game I have no problem having people over.

My cousin and her husband bought Tailgaters over by Papa John's. You could kill two birds with that. Tailgate with the folks going to the game and then stroll over to the restaurant to watch the game.

Just trying to promote family enterprise.

Looks like I'll be lying around in oil-soaked sand on the beaches of Alabama during the game.

joe on Friday, September 03, 2010 at 10:25 AM

Has tailgaters been cleaned up or is it still ghetto?

joe on Friday, September 03, 2010 at 10:32 AM

We were allowed to wear our favorite team t-shirt to work today and I am ashamed at how many people wore Bellarmine gear.

douglas on Friday, September 03, 2010 at 10:32 AM

i hadn't heard of anyone going to that place in a long time

I was quite pleased with coming up with the Double Dwayne Bowes as a team name, but apparently the whole fucking internet had the same idea

Brock on Friday, September 03, 2010 at 3:48 PM

Tailgaters should be pretty nice now. It was closed for years, but they reopened it back in May. Trying to spread the word.

Barry, thanks for cleaning up the beach for my arrival. I appreciate that.

It must be nice to have a job where you are trying to waste time as Friday expires instead of frantically wrapping up work so you aren't there until 8pm.
Yes, I'm bitter.

I think our plan for the draft is to find a WiFi hotspot along the road and draft mobile. That'll be interesting.
